Broken Soldering Iron Cord
Therearetwomethodsoftestingthesolderingironcord.
1. TurntheunitONandsetthetemperaturecontrolknobto480C.
Then wiggle and kink the iron cord at various locations along its
length, including in the strain relief area. If the LED heater lamp
flickers.Thenthecordneedstobereplaced.
2. Check the resistance between the plug and the wire on the
terminal. The values should be 0 if the value is , the cable
shouldbereplaced.

Checking of the Heating Element And Cord Assembly

The hand piece may be disassembled for trouble shooting and


repair:
1. Turnofmainstationandunplugfrompowersource.
2. Detach the soldering iron plug(15 asshown in the figure below)
fromthemainunit.
3. Turnthenut,(1asshowninthefigurebelow)counterclockwise.
4. Pulloutthetipenclosure(2asshowninthefigurebelow),the
tip(3 as shown in the figure below) , and the tip stand (4 as
showninthefigurebelow).
5. Turnthefrontmodule(5asshowninthefigurebelow)counter
clockwisetoreleaseitfromthemainbody.
6. Push out the Heating element (6 as shown in the figure below)
viathecord(14asshowninthefigurebelow).

Inspect and Clean the tip
CAUTION:Neverfilethetiptoremoveoxide.
1. Setthetemperatureto250C(482F).
2. When the temperature stabilizes, clean the tip with the cleaning
spongeandchecktheconditionofthetip.
3. Ifthereisblackoxideonthesolderplatedportionofthetip,apply
new solder (containing flux) and wipe the tip on the cleaning
sponge. Repeat until the oxide is completely removed, Coat with
newsolder.
4. Iftheisdeformedorheavilyeroded,replacewithanewone.

Calibrating the Soldering Iron temperature


Thesolderingironshouldberecalibratedwheneverthewholesoldering
ironischangedandwhentheheatingelementortipischanged.
1. Connectthecordassemblyplugtothereceptacleonthestation.
2. Setthetemperaturecontrolknobto400C(750F).
3. Turn the power switch to ON and wait until the temperature
stabilizes.
4. Place an external temperature sensor on the tip of the soldering
iron.
5. Whenthetemperaturestabilizes,usearegularorsmallcrosspoint
screwdriver to adjust the screw (marked CAL at the station) until
the external tip thermometer indicates the appropriate
temperature.

ASSEMBLY and PREPARATIONS


A.MainStation
As soon as the equipment has been removed from the package,
REMOVE THE SCREW locatedatthecenterofthe bottomofthe
mainunit.Thisscrewholdsthepumpinplaceduringtransportation.
WARNING: Failure to remove the screw before using the
equipmentcancausedamagetothesystem.

B.SolderingIron
1. InstallthesolderwiretothesolderingironholderasinFigure1.

2. Connect the soldering iron cord assembly to the 6pin output


terminalfoundatthelowermiddleportionofthemainunit.
3. Place the soldering iron to the soldering iron stand as shown
above.
4. Dampenthelargecleaningspongeandplaceitontheironholder
base.
C. DesolderingGun
1. Connectthecordofthedesolderinggun
tothe8pinterminal.
2. Connect the vacuum tube to the
suctionvacuumcap.
3. Place the desoldering gun onto the
holderinpreparationforusage.

IMPORTANTREMINDERS:
1. Make sure the equipment is placed on a flat stable surface
and all the heatgenerating components placed on their
respectiveholdersorstands.
2. EnsureallfunctionswitchesareOFFpriortoreworking.
3. Ensureallterminalconnectionsareproperlysecured.

GeneralGuidelines:

Beforeusagedampenthefilterpadswithalittlebitofwaterto
allow efficient air passage and filter action, redampen pads
frequentlyformaximumefficiency.

A.INITIALPROCEDURES
1. Plug the device to the main power source using the power cord
providedinthepackage.
2. With all function switches deactivated and all terminal connections
properlysecured,switchONthedevicebyactivatingthemainpower
switch(1fromthecontrolpanel).

B.DESOLDERING
1. Followtheinitialproceduresabove,A.INITIALPROCEDURES.
2. TurnONtheDesolderingfunctionswitch(3fromthecontrolpanel).
3. Setthetemperature.
a. Always set the temperature to as low as possible for the work being

4. Keepthesolderplatedsectionofthenozzlea
shinywhitebycoatingitwithasmallamount
ofsolder.
Tip: If the tip of the nozzle is coated with
oxide, its heat conductivity will be lowered.
Coating the tip with a small amount of fresh
solder ensures maximum heat conductivity.

5. Applythenozzletothesolderedpartandmeltthesolder.
a. Neverallowthenozzletotouchthe boarditself.
b. Confirmthatthesolderismelted.(Partiallymeltedsolderwillstillbesucked
uphoweveritwouldclogthebarrel).

A. DESOLDERINGGUN

b. Be sure that nozzle is completely heated,
beforecleaningthehole.
c. Clean out the hole of the nozzle with the
nozzlecleaningpin.
d. Ifthecleaningpincannotcompletelypass
through the hole, use the cleaning drill
instead.
CAUTION:
The desoldering gun will be extremely hot.

C.SOLDERING
1. Connect the Soldering Iron connection assembly to the 6pin
receptacle located at the front of the control panel (7 from the

3. TurnONtheSolderingfunctionswitch(5fromcontrolpanel).
4. Setthetemperature.
