What Are Some Bad Aspects Of Religion In Our Society?

Religion is a very important aspect in our society. In the past, people of our

society did not know that many religions existed. When people were born, they adopted

automatically their parent´s religion. During their growth, always all told them that their

religion was perfect and that there were not bad aspects. In today´s world, the

communications are much better than in the past. and the knowledge about other

cultures and religions has grown very much. Now we realize that religion has many bad

aspects. Too many religions, wars and fanaticism are negative aspects of religion in our

society.

The excess of religions causes damage in our society. First, almost all the

religions believe that another religion is false. Therefore, every person who belongs to

another religion is wrong. This fact causes a very big conflict in our society because it

divides her. The division in the society does not allow its progress. Second, the quantity

of religions produces a false faith. For example, people belong to a religion, but

suddenly they change their mind because something they do not like. Immediately, they

change their religion. The effect is that the people do not take the faith seriously and

lose the commitment to practice a religion. Additionally, the great amount of religions

confuses people in their sense of freedom. For example, it is clear that people are free of

changing their religion any times they want, but this also generates freedom of creating

new religions too. This fact has produced that people create religions without good

arguments, many of them with bad intentions and cheating their followers. The great

quantity of religions is a negative aspect in our society.

 The wars are the worst thing that can happen to society and many of them have

been caused by religion. Many religions preach that other religions are bad. They think

that it is necessary to fight in opposition to other religions. It is the main reason because

they begin the biggest conflicts in the world, which gives as result many wars. Many

people believe that they have the obligation to fight in opposition to the persons who

have another religion. They think that it is their duty with their religion and that it will

take them to heaven. This way of thinking causes many deaths throughout the war.

Additionally, many religions demand sacrifices from their members. Some people think

that the major sacrifice that they can do is giving their life for their beliefs. They think

that with this justification they can die in a war and it will be considered an honor. It is

clear that many beliefs that teach the religions can generate wars.

Religion causes many cases of fanaticism among their followers. First, a person

who follows all the rules that his religion dictates, get enthusiastic and fall in the

fanaticism. This person will suffer a psychological problem that can cause many

damages to the persons who are close to him or her. Second, religion is not flexible with

many thoughts. The result of this fact is that their members are not flexible either. This

one is an important reason to generate fanaticism in their followers. They will not be

flexible with their thoughts and therefore they will not tolerate the others. There are

many beliefs that the religion cannot prove. In order to convince people, religious

people use the God's name. Therefore, many acts, the fanatics do, are done in the name

of God. This phrase justifies the fanaticism of some religious. Fanaticism is a social

problem, caused by some people who follow strictly all the rules that religion gives.

In summary, it is clear that religion has some bad aspects, such as the many

religions, the argument of many wars and some cases of fanaticism. The great quantity

of religions produces a serious division in the society. The possibility to easily change

their religion is a sign of lack of faith and commitment. People create new religions
without good arguments. Some religions are opposed to other religions, demand

sacrifices and promote that it is necessary to fight against the persons who belong to

other religions. These arguments are used to generate big conflicts that originate wars.

Fanatic people are not tolerant with the rest of the society, because they follow the rules

of the religion strictly and do everything in the name of God. To summarize, there are

some bad aspects of religion in our society, but surely there are some good aspects too.

People need to evaluate the effects of religion in their own lives.
