FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 5858:1999 Aerospace Nuts, self-locking, with maximum
operating temperature less than or equal to 425 C Procurement specification issued by the International
Organization
for Standardization
(ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the
recommendation
of the Aircraft, Space Vehicles and Aircraft Electrical Equipment Sectional Committee
and approval of the Transport Engineering Division Council.
The text of International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard
without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards.
Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a)

Wherever the words International

be read as Indian Standard.

Standard appear referring to this standard,

they should

b)

Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice
is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.

In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards listed below for which
Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their
place are also listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated:

NOTE
The data given
in this
table
are
based
on single sampling
plans for a normal inspection,
as specified
in
ISO 2859.1:1999,
Tables 2-A and 6-A. A 100 % inspection should be performed when the sample size is as large as or larger
than the batch size.
Other sampling plans specified in ISO 2859.1

may be used (double or multiple sampling), but these shall be chosen in such a way

as to ensure an equivalent quality level.

As regards those manufacturers

who carry out an inspection during the manufacturing

process (inspection on a machine and/or

inspection between operations), the sampling plan @ the final inspection shall be compiled in such a way that the overall inspection
plan will guarantee an equivalent quality level.
