OCTOBER, 2014
The summer months passed all too swiftly and we are enjoying a lovely Fall
season. Fall is always full of a fervor of activities and it's a favorite time of year, albeit
a harbinger of cold weather ahead. However, as we enjoy the weather we have at
present, our teachers have many accomplishments of their students to recognize.
Ms. Laura Schwanitz's Students
Student and adult musicians from several communities performed at the Family Music
Festival in Utica last spring and raised more than $500 for the American Heart
Association in memory of Mrs. Diane Maciasz. A special thanks to Evola Music for
providing a keyboard. Evola Music employee Mackenzie Olbrys and her sax quartet
from Eisenhower were outstanding! A wide variety of musical selections was
presented by the Romeo High Flute Octet. There was also a unique group featuring
five bass clarinet players (including Dylan Joles ad Laura Schwanitz). Ms. Laura
performed with the Voyageurs Ensemble woodwind quartet. This special evening
ended with a lively rendition of the Sailor's Hornpipe for flute, oboe, clarinet and
bassoon.
Congratulations to flute student Emily Maciasz. Emily has been taking private lessons
since September, 2012. She is in the seventh grade band at Shelby Junior High.
Freshman Jermaine Juarez is playing bassoon and alto sax in the music program at
Dakota High.

Ms. Noelle Morabito's Students
Five of Ms. Noelle's students were selected to participate in the Michigan Accordion
Society's Youth Music Night held in June at Forestre Banquet's in Troy, MI. These
students were Justina Gaynor, Delaney Garon, Johnathan Oestringer, Maria Magnoli
and Jaixai Reineke. They did a fabulous job of representing Evola Music and each
received a $100 scholarship to be used toward music lessons, an award, and a one-year
membership to the Michigan Accordion Society.
Ms. Noelle's daughter, Valentina D'Anna, was the first recipient of the Michigan
Accordion Society's Accordion for Kids program scholarship. She received a 12-bass
accordion and her first music book autographed by Mr. Palmer, the publisher, and is
happily studying accordion with her amazing teacher, Mr. Yakov Todromovich. If
anyone is interested in learning more about the Accordion for Kids program, please
contact the president of the Michigan Accordion Society, Mr. Joseph Recchia at
248 824 3856.
Many of Ms. Noelle's students were excited to hear her sing and play piano with Mr.
Aaron Caruso at the Feta Italiana in July, and The Aaron Caruso Show held at Andiamo
Celebrity Showroom on September 12, 2014. We send a special thank you to all the
students who came out for these great events.
Ms. Noelle's students are looking forward to the MAC Competition, preparing for their
