4-4 HOW TO UPGRADE FIRMWARE

Connect PC and CM-24/12 with the PARALLEL CABLE.

It is necessary to prepare the followings to upgrade


the FIRMWARE.
1. FIRMWARE DISK
2. PC with MS-DOS
3. PARALLEL CABLE

Turn on the power while pressing [ ], [ ], [ ] keys.


It is ready to receive data when [PAUSE] LED starts
blinking.

Open the download. BAT from MS-DOS. (Type download


and press [RETURN] key.)

Some PCs can not use the BAT FILE. Please refer
to the ReadMe File in the FIRMWARE DISK.

4-5 TOOL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT


TOOL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT is designed to ensure cutting quality by eliminating tool-bouncing as the tool
traverses the media.
This adjustment must be performed after replacement of the TOOL CARRIAGE, BED and GUIDE RAIL.
ROLAND SPECIAL TOOL ST-006 is used for this adjustment.

Put the WHITE DUMMY PEN (ST-006) to the TOOL


CARRIAGE.

Put the PINCH ROLLER DOWN at the both ends of GRIT


ROLLER. Cover the PAPER SENSOR with paper and turn
on the power.

4-6 TOOL PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT


TOOL PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT is for adjusting the voltage supplied to the solenoid of the TOOL CARRIAGE
to ensure that correct pressure would be added to the blade when cutting.
This adjustment must be performed after replacement of the TOOL CARRIAGE, BED and GUIDE RAIL. It is
necessary to enter PEN PRESSURE MODE to perform this adjustment.
ROLAND SPECIAL TOOL ST-002, ST-006 and ST-012 is used for this adjustment.

Driver IC [MTD2005] supplies voltage,


corresponds to the pen pressure, to the solenoid of
the Carriage. Tool Pressure could be set by
adjusting the OFFSET with "MIN" adjustment and
GAIN with "MAX" adjustment of the Tool
Pressure Adjustment.

CARRIAGE and put the SLIDE VOLUME, which is
located at the right side of the machine, to MAX.

keys to enter the PEN PRESSURE MODE. Press
[PENMODE] key to select MAX. PRESSURE MODE.
[PENMODE] LED will be ON when entering MAX.

Pen can be moved up and down by pressing the [ORIGIN
SET] key.

Pull up the TOOL CARRIAGE with the TENSION GAUGE


(ST-002) and measure the tool pressure when pen tip leaves
the BED. Adjust Tool Pressure so that it will be 195 ~ 205gf
with [ ], [ ] keys. 1 step = 3gf.
Press [SETUP] key to save the settings.

4-7-1 CALIBRATION_[CHECK]
CALIBRATION CHECK MODE is designed to check whether CM-24/12 can cut in the correct length as ordered by
the data.
It can be checked by the original data installed in the CM-24/12.
It is necessary to enter the CALIBRATION MODE to perform this check.

Put the 0.25 mm Standard Ceramic Pen to the TOOL


CARRIAGE and set A1 size paper on CM-24 and A3 size
paper on CM-12.

Turn on the power while pressing [ ], [ ], [TEST] keys


to enter the CALIBRATION MODE.
[TEST] LED will be ON when entering CALIBRATION
MODE.
Press [SETUP] key.

CM-24/12 will start drawing a figure when pressing the


[TEST] key. Calibrating amount can be calculated with the
formula shown in the PROCEDURE 4 by using this figure.
