.1 SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE

The purpose of an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) is to put together in a single document that records all inspection
and testing requirements relevant to a specific process. On a construction contract the process is likely to be a
construction activity, element of work, trade work or providing a product section. An Inspection and Test Plan
identifies the items of materials and work to be inspected or tested, by whom and at what stage or frequency,
references to relevant standards, acceptance criteria and the records to be maintained.
Inspection and Test Plans, when properly implemented, help ensure that, and verify whether, work has been
undertaken to the required standard and requirements, and that records are kept.

.2 DEFINITION
ITP -Inspection and Test Plan
- The minimum requirement of the activities for quality control and inspection of the field construction work.
Client
- Organization which contracts with the testing station and provides the test specification.
Design load
- load for which the support has been designed
Failure load
- Point at which the support cannot carry any additional load
- NOTE it is also known as the limit state failure load and is determined during a destruction test on the support.
Test report
- Document summarizing all the relevant aspects of the tests
ITP -Inspection and Test Plan
- The minimum requirement of the activities for quality control and inspection of the field construction work.

.3 INSPECTION
Routine Tests and inspection reports that has been produced during manufacturing will be provided to client
representative to assure that poles has been produced in accordance to project specification. In addition the
following inspection shall include undertaken:
- Minimum and maximum tip wall thickness
- Minimum and maximum butt wall thickness
- Condition of pole interior and evidence of exposed rings or reinforcement steel;
- Proper hole and insert locations and sizes;
- Evidence of cracking during or after two-point handling.
- Actual manufactured pole weight;
- Report of any repairs made to the pole;
- Date of manufacture and inspection(s); and

.4 TESTING
One sample for each type of pole will be selected randomly by client representative. Sample test will be carried out in
accordance to those outlined on IEC 60652 for the selected pole to verify compliance of the support design with the
specification.
The material(s) and the manufacturing processes used in the fabrication of the prototype support shall be to the
same specifications as those used during the fabrication of the production supports.
In addition, a sample test is required on a production support, and shall be chosen at random from the batch.
The sample test, the support shall successfully withstand the loads specified and designed for.

.5 TESTING PROGRAMME
6.1. The expected Testing date shall 2nd week of November.
6.2. The Foundation for test: Test will take place in a horizontal plane. The Pole will be supported at its
bottom end and at its point of Fixity, which is taken to be at its ground level. This is as per requirement
of PCI USA (Precast Concrete Institute).
6.3. Load will be applied in the horizontal position, it will be applied with a winch attached to the Overhead
Crane, and the load direction will be changed with pulleys.
6.4. Drawing of Test typical rig arrangement is attached.
6.5. The load is applied at 610 mm from the top. The position of the dynamometer will be placed to
measure the load horizontally/at right angle to the center line of the pole being tested.
6.6. Deflection will be measured of the top of the pole with help of a needle point attached vertically at the
center of the top of pole. The deflection will be measured with help of a millimeter tape.
6.7. The tolerances will be according to 60652 IEC:2008
6.8. No strain gauges are required.
6.9. The applied load is given for in the Table in the Test Plan in IEC 60652 for the poles being tested.
6.10. The final load will be held for 1 minute
6.11.The load will be applied with the winch at a steady rate and held for one minute at each load 50%, 75%,
90%, 95%, and 100% and as required salient stages as shown in the inspection forms of clause 9.
below.
6.12. The Test is a Sample Test, and minimum of 1% poles will be tested for each lot for each pole type.

.6 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA.
7.1. The performance of the support shall be considered acceptable if it resists the specified design loads (at
100 %) for 1 min without failure of any components or assemblies.
7.2. Permanent local deformations such as bowing or twisting of secondary members and components are
acceptable. Ovalization of holes and permanent deformation of bolts shall be accepted.
7.3. Additionally, the requirement of clause 15 (IEC 60652) shall be fulfilled
