1. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1-1 Safety statements
- SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS - This manual contains important instructions for our inverter that should
be followed during installation and maintenance of the inverter.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, install this inverter in a temperature and humidity controlled indoor
area free of conductive contaminants. Ambient temperature must not exceed 50oC (122oF).

The AC output of the inverter need a disconnect switch such as a breaker which has to be provided by
others.

The over-current protection for the output AC circuit has to be provided by others. All of our inverter has an
electronic protection of AC output short circuit.

The following precautions should be observed when working on inverter:

Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.

Use tools with insulated handles.

Wear rubber gloves and boots.

The AC input of the inverter needs a readily accessible disconnected device and shall be incorporated in the
building installation wiring.

Short circuit backup protection is relies on 16A building installation device.

1-2 Other safety notes

- Examine the packing container for damage. Notify the carrier immediately if damage is present.
- Do not disassemble the inverter.
- Do not operate near water or excessive humidity.
- Keep liquid and foreign objects from getting inside the inverter.
- Install inverter in a well-ventilated area. Do not block air vents in front of inverter or air exhausts in the
back.

Do not operate close to gas or fire.

Do not plug appliances, such as half bridge rectified load, into the inverter receptacles.
Do not operate if the unit is leaking liquid or if a white powdery residue is present.
Elevated operating ambient temperature: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating
ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration
should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the manufacturers
maximum rated ambient temperature.

Reduced air flow: Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required
for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.

Mechanical loading: Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not
achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.

Circuit overloading: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit
and the effect that overloading of circuits might have on over-current protection and supply wiring.
Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.

2. INTRODUCTION AND INSTALLATION

2-1 System
ESI (Energy Saving Inverter) series inverter is an extremely reliable DC-AC inverter system, which utilizes
the most advanced power electronics and microprocessor technology to achieve the following features:
Self-Diagnosis
The ESI series inverter is equipped with a microprocessor that can perform self- diagnosis to get a highly
reliable operation. With the microprocessor, the inverter is able to identify any failure and show this failure
message on the LED/LCD display with visual/audio alarm once a failure is encountered.
High Frequency Architecture
With the high frequency architecture design, the ESI series inverter has outstanding characteristics such as
high efficiency, light weight and compact outlook. The high efficiency feature means less energy waste when
power conversion from DC to AC. The light weight and compact outlook benefits easy installation.
Modular Design
All ESI inverters use modular design structure. The outstanding feature makes the inverter to be easily
maintained and have high MTBF time.
High Efficiency
The ESI series inverter uses advanced soft-switching techniques to increase operating efficiency and reduce
switching noise.

Different to the traditional design concept of using low frequency transformer and bipolar transistor, ESI
inverter adopts IGBT. The new design concept does not only minimize the weight and dimension but also enhance
output short circuit reliability and overload capacity.
There are two paths that can supply output voltage. One is from bypass AC input, another is from DC to AC
inverter. So there are two operational modes can be chosen (by the front panel). The operational mode decides the
default output path.
The first one is Off-line Mode, output will come from AC bypass path during the normal condition. System
will transfer output to DC/AC inverter path if any AC input abnormal is detected. When AC is recovery, system will
come back to bypass path automatically. During operating under this mode, the efficiency is very high, but the output
waveform is totally decided by AC input.
The other one is On-line Mode, output will come from DC/AC inverter path during the normal condition.
System will transfer output to bypass path if DC/AC inverter fail or input abnormal is detected. When DC/AC
inverter output becomes normal, system will come back to DC/AC inverter path automatically.
The Off-line/On-line mode is changed from one to another by pressing ON button when output is available.
The operational mode cannot be changed when any abnormal or fault condition is detected.
