Caution: Do not modify the length of the sample pump vent tubing or
sample pump integrity errors may occur. If the tubing is damaged,
replace the tubing with the same length of tubing (part number 21114),
or use the sample pressure pump kit (part number 111669).
The vent tubing length is calibrated to the pump. Use a sharp razor blade
to create a clean cut and do no flare the open end of the tubing.

direct contact with superficial cuts, open wounds, and other skin
conditions that may permit absorption into subcutaneous skin layers
Wear gloves while servicing parts of the instrument that have contact
with body fluids such as serum, plasma, urine, or whole blood.
Cover all superficial cuts and wounds before starting any work.
Disinfect tools and other items that have been near any part of the
instrument sample path or waste area with 10% v/v bleach.
Do not use the biohazard sink for personal cleaning such as rinsing
coffee cups or washing hands.
Some service procedures require the removal of the protective housings that prevent
human access to the laser radiation. The removal of the protective housings may change
the classification of the system to CDRH Class II and EN60825-1 Class 2. All service
procedures must be followed precisely.
NOTE: The classifications in this document are defined by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) regulation
21 CFR 1040.10 and the European Standard, EN 60825-1:1994 and A11:1996.

The locations of the reagent and sample barcode scanners and their associated laser safety
labels are shown below. The laser apertures for the sample and ancillary reagent barcode
scanners are directed into the system away from the operator. During normal operation,
reflections from the sample barcode scanner laser beam may be visible to persons in the
immediate area, but there is no laser safety hazard associated with this exposure. The
laser aperture for the primary reagent barcode scanner is directed toward the barcode
labels at the end of the reagent packs inside the primary reagent compartment. During
normal operation, the barcode scanner does not scan the reagent packs until the primary
reagent compartment door is closed. When the primary reagent compartment door is
closed, there is no operator exposure to the laser.

Warranty Period
The warranty period commences upon installation at the customers
location and extends for a period of one year thereafter. The customer,
with some exceptions, may purchase additional service coverage beyond
the one year warranty period as part of the original instrument acquisition
for second or subsequent years beyond the original installation date. The
customers original Purchase Invoice or appropriate Agreement
Addendum must indicate the term in months for additional service
coverage.
Replacement of Parts
In performing warranty service under this agreement, Bayer
HealthCare or its authorized distributors will provide appropriate
parts to repair the instrument, or Bayer or its authorized
distributor will arrange for the exchange of the instrument, at no
charge with the exception of certain parts or subassemblies that
are considered Customer Maintenance Items. Customer
Maintenance Items include, but are not limited to, the following
items: lamps, electrodes or sensors (which are covered by a
separate warranty), reagents, calibrators, controls, paper, and
pens. Consult the appropriate system operators manuals for a
complete list of Customer Maintenance Items for any specific
model of instrument.
Design Changes and Retrofitting of Instruments
During the warranty period, Bayer HealthCare reserves the right to
change the design or construction of specific models of instruments
without incurring any obligation to make such changes available to an
individual instrument. If Bayer HealthCare notifies the customer of a
change that improves the performance or reliability of their instrument,
and Bayer HealthCare requests to retrofit that instrument, the customer
must agree to allow Bayer HealthCare or an authorized distributor, at
Bayer HealthCares expense, to retrofit components or make design
changes, which will not adversely affect the instruments performance
characteristics.
Warranty Exclusions
Bayer HealthCare or its authorized distributors will provide warranty
service to customers during the warranty period, which, in the event of
onsite repair service includes appropriate parts, travel to the location of
the instrument, and onsite labor during normal business hours.
Bayer HealthCare or its authorized distributors will provide warranty
service during the warranty period only, and instrument repairs, labor,
replacement parts, or exchanged instruments or components, as
provided during the original warranty period, will not extend the original
warranty period or be warranted beyond the termination of the original
warranty period as described above.
THE WARRANTIES DESCRIBED IN THIS DOCUMENT WILL NOT
APPLY IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING EVENTS OCCUR:
1. Repairs or modifications have been made to the instrument by
someone other than an authorized Bayer HealthCare representative.
2. The instrument has been operated using accessories other than
Bayer HealthCare brand accessories, or consumable supplies and/or
reagents not having the same grade, quality, and composition as
defined in the system operators manuals.
3. The instrument has not been installed within 90 days of shipment to
the customers facility unless otherwise specified.
4. The customer has not performed appropriate customer maintenance
procedures, as outlined in the system operators manuals.
5. The instrument has been misused or used for a purpose for which it
was not intended.
6. The instrument has been damaged in transit to the customer or
damaged by the customer while moving or relocating it without
supervision by a Bayer HealthCare representative.
