discipline for misconduct that would be actionable under the Act from the licensing
authority of a sister state against an educator who holds educator certification in
Pennsylvania, it may direct the Department to impose comparable or identical discipline
against the Pennsylvania certification unless the educator can establish:
1 Since the commencement of this disciplinary proceeding in January, 2014, the Professional Educator
Discipline Act has been amended, renamed and in some cases renumbered. The amendments were
effective on February 18, 2014. The reciprocal discipline provision under the now titled Educator Discipline

Respondent that failure to respond could result in the factual assertions being deemed
admitted, the absence of any precluding criteria confirmed and the imposition of
discipline without a hearing, Respondent declined to file an answer or otherwise
respond to the Order to Show Cause. Accordingly, the Department filed a Motion for
Judgment on Default on April 16, 2014, requesting that the Commission impose

Commission will revoke the Respondents Pennsylvania educator certification and his
eligibility to be employed as a charter or cyber charter school staff member or a
contracted educational provider staff member. Accordingly, we enter the following:
ORDER
AND NOW, this __11th __ day of June, 2014, it is hereby ORDERED that the
Department of Educations Motion for Judgment on Default is GRANTED and the
educator certification and the eligibility to be employed as a charter or cyber charter
school staff member or a contracted educational provider staff member of Respondent
DANIEL J. PICCA are hereby REVOKED.
