The word 'familiar' is from the Latin 'familiaris', meaning a
"household servant," and is intended to express the idea that
sorcerers had spirits as their servants ready to obey their
commands. Those attempting to contact the dead, even to this day,
usually have some sort of spirit guide who communicates with
them. These are familiar spirits.
Familiar spirits are sometimes referred to simply as "familiars"
or "animal guides", are supernatural entities believed to

assist witches and cunning folk in their practice of magic. Familiar

spirits are also called as alter ego, doppelgnger, personal demon,
personal totem, spirit companion. They are capable of appearing in
numerous guises, often as an animal, but also at times as a human
or humanoid figure, and were described as "clearly defined, threedimensional forms, vivid with colour and animated with
movement and sound" by those alleging to have come into contact
with them. Simply put, a "familiar spirit" is a demon. It is defined
as "a spirit or demon that serves or prompts and inspires an
individual". Demons serve or prompt people to do evil, and to go
against the commands of God.
"Ghosts" are not the disembodied spirits of dead people trapped
between this world and the next. Hebrews 9:27 says, "And as it is
appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
Ghosts are familiar spirits which impersonate dead people. These
demons are called "deceitful spirits" because of their ability to
convince people that they are disembodied spirits of dead people,
rather than what they really are-demons. Such appearances are in
actuality demonic forces imitating people in order to
deceive. These familiar spirits are around each person from their
birth and death and so they know all their behaviors, characters,
habits and secrets. Therefore they can imitate as a dead person or
an animal or even as a spirit guide who inspires people with ideas
to deceive people. Familiar spirits can take on any shape and
personality.
These demons that imitate dead people are also called "familiar
spirits" in the Bible, probably because they were familiar with the
deceased person and can imitate his or her voice. Spirit mediums
claim they can channel the deceased person's voice to give
messages from the "other side." In most cases, the medium fakes
the person's voice. However in a few rare cases, it is a demon and
not the deceased person who is speaking through the medium. For
example, a demon that was familiar with a person living in the
1800's can give accurate information about the deceased
individual. It will pretend to be the deceased person's spirit, but it
is actually a demon. The Bible warns us about trying to contact the
dead because it opens the door to demons.

Leviticus 19:31, "Regard not them that have familiar spirits,

neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD
your God."
Leviticus 20:6, "And the soul that turneth after such as have
familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will
even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among
his people."
1 Chronicles 10:13, "So Saul died for his transgression which
he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the
LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that
had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it."
2 Chronicles 33:6, "And he caused his children to pass
through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he
observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and
dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil
in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger".
Sorcerers or necromancers, who professed to call up the dead to
answer questions, were said to have a familiar spirit
(Deuteronomy 18:11; 2 Kings 21:6; 2 Chronicles 33:6; Leviticus
19:31; 20:6; Isaiah 8:19; 29:4). Leviticus 19:31;20:6,27;
and Deuteronomy 18:9-14 refer to mediums and familiar spirits
and forbids being involved with them, as they are an abomination
to the Lord. A medium is one who acts as a liaison to supposedly
contact or communicate with the dead on behalf of the living. In
reality mediums are contacting demons who convince the mediums
that they are familiar and can be trusted and believed.
Familiar spirits and spirit guides are under the control of their
master, Satan. They influence people to spread lies and deceit in
order to thwart the kingdom of God. To knowingly open oneself to
the work of demons is an evil thing.
Some avenues through which demons or "familiar spirits" can gain
entrance into a person's life are divination, transcendental
meditation, hypnosis, channeling, yoga, visualization, Kundalini
Awakening/ Luciferic Initiation, necromancy, witchcraft,
homosexuality [sodomy], fornication, drugs, and alcohol. These are
all activities that believers are exhorted to avoid. Instead, we are to
be filled with the Holy Spirit, with love, with joy, and with the
fullness of life that comes from Jesus Christ. We are also to be on

guard, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but

against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in
high places." (Ephesians 6:12).
Saul died because he transgressed against the Lord for asking
counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it (1
Chronicles 10:13). Christians should never be afraid of "ghosts,"
which are actually demons, because "greater is He who is in you
than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).
God forbids man to have contact with the unseen realm, the spirit
realm. All of our contact for information is to be sought from the
Lord through prayer and His Word, the Bible. Isaiah 8:19,20 says,
"And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have
FAMILIAR SPIRITS, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter:
SHOULD NOT A PEOPLE SEEK UNTO THEIR GOD? for the living
to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not
according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
Herein lies great danger today because of the emphasis on "spirit
guides" and "angels." Many people claim to have regular contact
with "spirit beings" or "spirit guides" (which they say are angels).
These people range from movie stars to musicians,
inventors, discoverers, businessmen, writers, world leaders, wives
of the leaders of old, established (once considered fundamental
Christian ministries to witches and satanists. Thus, these people
are actually dealing with "familiar spirits." Spirit beings with which
they are "familiar" because of repeated contact. The Bible forbids
all such contact with the unseen spirit realm. By being in contact
with these spirits, they are being deceived and also deceiving many
others.
We are not to pray and ask angels to lead and guide us. We are to
pray to God and to read His Word for direction. Jeremiah
33:2,3says, "THUS SAITH THE LORD the maker thereof, the LORD
that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; CALL UNTO
ME, AND I WILL ANSWER THEE, and show thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not." Romans 12:1,2says, "I beseech
you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present

your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is

your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be
ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." That
"renewing of the mind" is from the reading and study of Gods
Word, the Bible. Beware of "familiar spirits." People are having
contact with them all around this world, and the Lord tells us to
have no part in it.

Since ages past fallen angels have been instrumental in the
advances of mankind, be it technology, literary arts, music, art of
acting, art of beauty, medicine, inventions, discoveries, etc. They
have led mankind on the course of destruction. Just as Satan
tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden [Genesis 3:5] with immortality
and the ability to become a god, the demonic spirits today are also

tempting a rebellious and wicked mankind with the ability to

become a god by rejecting Jesus Christ. Starting from the 17th
Century called the 'Age of Enlightenment or the Age of Reasoning',
to even today, Satan and his fallen angels have been responsible for
immense advancements in technology. This is the exact time that
we began witnessing an explosion of knowledge, weaponry, world
wars, technology, and with these advancements came the
questioning and rejection of the existence of God and explosion in
immorality. Though some good has come out of it, its dangers
outweigh the good.
[The Age of Enlightenment (or simply
the Enlightenment or Age of Reason) was a cultural movement of
intellectuals beginning in late 17th-century Western Europe
emphasizing reason and individualism rather than tradition. It
spread across Europe and to the United States, continuing to the
end of the 18th century.Its purpose was to reform society using
reason, to challenge ideas grounded in tradition and faith, and to
advance knowledge through the scientific method. It promoted
scientific thought, skepticism, and intellectual interchange. The
Enlightenment was a revolution in human thought. This new way of
thinking was that rational thought begins with clearly stated
principles, uses correct logic to arrive at conclusions, tests the
conclusions against evidence, and then revises the principles in the
light of the evidence. The ideas of the Enlightenment continue to
exert significant influence on the culture, politics, and governments
of the Western world. Originating around the 17th century, it was
mainly sparked by philosophers such as Francis Bacon, Ren
Descartes, Baruch Spinoza, John Locke, Pierre
Bayle, Voltaire, Francis Hutcheson, David Hume, Cesare
Beccaria, Immanuel Kant and Isaac Newton. All these people were
heavily involved with occult sciences and philosophies and rejected
the Bible and God. The Scientific Revolution is closely tied to the
Enlightenment, as its discoveries overturned many traditional
concepts and introduced new perspectives on nature and man's
place within it. "For Kant, Enlightenment was mankind's final
coming of age, the emancipation of the human consciousness from
an immature state of ignorance." The Enlightenment flourished
until about 17901800, at which point the Enlightenment, with its
emphasis on reason, gave way to Romanticism, which placed a new
emphasis on emotion; a Counter-Enlightenment began to increase

in prominence. Enlightenment and Romanticism has shaped

the modern world by emphasizing man as the controller of his own
life rather than God, by removing morality and trying to make man
evolve into a god. Many occult societies like the Illuminati were
formed to advance Satan's kingdom on earth].
THE GREAT GENERAL COUNCIL OF SATAN IN THE 1700s: In
the 1700's, Satan called a great world council for all his angels and
demons to lay out a master plan for the conversion of the world to
his side. The purpose was to ready his forces just before the last
great controversy between himself and Christ.
At the beginning of the 1700s Lucifer and all his spirit counselors
throughout the world held a Great General Counsel with one
purpose in mind, it was to prepare for the great industrial age
which was soon to break upon the world, and they also foresaw
another age that was to follow the industrial age,
where tremendous scientific discoveries would be made by people,
and the world would enter into a unique age that would change the
way that everyone lives. Lucifer also understood that these changes
would also usher in the end times and the close of the "Great
Controversy between the forces of good and evil.
This council was to prepare and train his angels and demons on
how they were to work and how to prepare the world's people for
the great industrial age and a greater age to follow of great
scientific discoveries that would change the way everybody would
live, which would usher in the last final great controversy between
good and evil. Lucifer had been studying the Bible and he found
in Daniel 12:4 where we are told about the time of the end, "Many
shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased. He
understood it to be that they were getting to that point, and he with
all the spirit counselors, now needed to change their modes of
operation in order to better ensnare people and devise a way
whereby people would disqualify themselves from being members
of Christs coming kingdom.
Satan said he would devise ways whereby people will disqualify
themselves from being members of Christ's kingdom. This was to
be accomplished by:
a) Bringing about a great industrial age,

b) Introduce Christian idolatry, and

c) Deceive people into believing about a coming Glorious
New Age.'
By the time the Counsel came to a close they had settled upon 6
major policies that were going to be followed. The plan would
involve the following:
1. Bringing about a great industrial age: No matter how you
look at it the last 150 years has been a time of
great accomplishments by mankind. It was during this time that
computers, phones, televisions, circuit boards, rockets, cars, radios,
satellites, microchips, lasers, nuclear weapons, and millions of
more advancements were made. If we look into our near future
things like hover cars, cloaking devises, force fields, teleportation,
singularity and the like, are all possible. There has been an
explosion of technology and these are no small accomplishments;
these are things that changed the lives of most people on the face
of the planet. But have you ever just sat and though for a moment
about how these inventions came about so quickly? In a little
over 150 years we have had major advancements in technology
unlike any other time in history. Why is it that the fastest source of
travel for 5,000 years was horse, boat, and foot; and yet today we
can go to the moon and back? What accounts for the technological
gap? These technological advances have come with aid and help of
Fallen Angels and demons. These demonic forces have been privy
to secrets that would yield some of the advances we see happening
today. Now you might be thinking, if fallen angels and demons have
been around since mans creation, why do we only
see advancements in the past 150 years? Because we are nearing
the end of the age.
Furthermore, the book of Daniel tells us that knowledge will
increase in the latter days (Daniel 12:4). Could this be due to the
fact that watcher angels are sharing their information with the
masses? think about it, for 5,000 years we saw minor advances in
technology; people used nothing more than horseback, boat,
carriage, and walking to get around. Since the 1900s we have now
entered into a new age of cars, planes, rockets, and we are even
traveling to the moon, in a little more than 150 years. The
advancements in technology are leading to:

The 'Singularity' which is the merging of man, computer and

machine.
Transhumansim which is transforming the human condition by
developing and making widely available technologies to greatly
enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities.
Evolution of mankind from human to a god with god like super
powers and immortality by genetic engineering, mixing of species
and cloning.
2. To deceive people about the existence of Satan and his
angels, so they would not believe that they exist: First, they
were to see to it that humans would be made to people believed in
God and thy also believed in the devil. But now this all needed to
change. (Note: a recent survey shows that over 75% of people
today do not believe in a real, tangible devil!)
3. To have total control over the minds of people through
hypnotism: The next step in the three part strategic policy
adopted at the Council, was to find a way to be able to obtain total
control of peoples minds, and this would be done by taking
hypnotism out of the realm of the occult and introducing it into the
field of medicine as a new science, for the supposed great benefit
of mankind. They strategized that by taking hypnotism out of the
realm of the occult and mainstreaming it as a science, they could
regress people and flatter them to actually believe that they were in
an earlier life. They would make people believe in
reincarnation. These supposed regressions of people to so-called
former lives would become a popular belief. This of course
supported the notions of a person living after death in a higher
plane of existence and reincarnation, both of which are unscriptural
and non biblical beliefs. Satan said that he would gain peoples trust
by healing disease, introducing it into medical practice for healing
disease, alleviating mental problems, using it for patients for
surgery, and solving crime problems. As his plans developed he
introduced more psychological principles to bring advancements in
the field of psychology. He told the council that through this avenue
of mysticism, he would de-Christianize the western world. This
bears heavily, as you will soon see, on the beginnings of the theory
of evolution. In order to begin this movement, Satan chose a
Physician named Franz Mesmer to bring hypnosis to the forefront

and to be accepted as legitimate by using it in his medical practice.

It was at first called, "Animal Magnetism," then known as
"Mesmerism." By the time Mesmer died in 1815 many European
doctors were using it to anesthetize their patients for surgery.
4. To destroy the Bible without burning it through the
theoryof evolution:
It was Charles Darwin through whom Satan chose to introduce the
theory of evolution because Darwin was hypnotized as a child.
Through hypnosis, the enemy gained control of Darwin's mind. He
well knew Darwin had a fertile mind an d that he would probably
take his mental suggestions and develop them into an effective
weapon against God's word.
This is what Satan meant when he told the council he would
destroy the Bible without burning it. He outlined to them just how
he would use evolution to destroy man's belief in: 1) the creation
week, 2) the fall of man, and 3) the plan of redemption.
He said anyone teaching this theory was to be blessed by him
before the whole galaxy and greatly esteemed. They would be given
5 angels to be assigned to them throughout their life.
They call it a religious system; the theory of evolution; Because it is
a system of schooling people and getting them to disqualify
themselves from being members of Christs kingdom. And he said
that every teacher of that theory is recognized by the spirits as a
person of great value and receives a very special unction from
Satan himself.
They would be considered ministers of this great religious system,
and
Satan himself gives great power to
: a) induce spiritual blindness, b) to convince and c) to convert
people.

Since the inception of the evolutionary model by Charles Darwin in

the mid-1800's, the unholy mind of the evolutionist has continually
been turned toward discrediting the Biblical account of a literal
creation week of seven days duration.
Now we know what went on behind the scene, and why the Genesis
account of creation has been under constant attack by the enemy to
undermine man's belief and his worship of an omnipotent,
omniscient, and omnipresent Creator. Behind the scene pulling
intellectual strings has been Satan and his cohorts, leading his
faithful followers to delude and deceive the whole world.
Darwin's theory, when first proposed, was eagerly grasped by
agnostics and infidels alike, as a way to explain the origin of the
cosmos and the earth, eliminating the need for the Creator. The
only thing that has evolved is their theory which pits a fiat creation
by an almighty God against a slowly evolving cosmos taking
millions and billions of years.
Life is described as beginning from some primordial soup which
somehow began with the formation of a single cell, evolving
through a process of natural selection to its present state of
development. Thus the universe and man is ever evolving toward
some higher state of existence. However, believers in this theory of
an evolving world have never been able to produce any 'links'
between the various identities, since all still produce 'after their
kind' (Gen.1:21), except in cases of artificial intervention by man or
Satan. This is a very convenient way to deny what 6,000 years of
sin has done to planet earth and its inhabitants. The Bible says that
such a time of trouble such as this world has never seen is
approaching. Soon God will come, in fact, He is ready even now to
pour out His wrath upon this wicked world. This planet is not
evolving toward some better utopian society, but rather toward
SELF-DESTRUCTION -- the exact opposite of what Satan would
have men believe. He has very successfully use d this delusion to
turn man's attention away from the tragic consequences of 6,000
years of sin, and what it has wrought upon planet earth.
5. Christian Idolatry through Necromancy:

Christian idolatry is the most grandiose or great

deception that has ever been brought upon mankind. And he
boasted, that
demon spirits are continually defiling Christian churches through
the avenue of necromancy, by using a
form of spirit worship that involves hundreds of millions of
Christians into idolatry without their being
aware of it.
Necromancy is the belief that one can conjure the spirits of the
dead so you can speak with someone
who has died. Today this is seen in Charismatic churches.
There are hundreds and millions of Christians that
are practicing idolatry while they think they are glorifying God.
Demon spirits have always found over the centuries, great delight
in impersonating
apparitions, departed love ones and persons of great renown.
So by people believing that they are either talking to the saints, the
spirits of the dead, the dead saints;
or a dead relative; or a dead person of some type, they are being
deceived.
When people believe in this, they are actually opening
themselves to be completely deceived by demon spirits, because it
gives the demon spirits an
opportunity to impersonate the dead and for people to believe their

6. NEW AGE- Alien Deception:
The idea of New Age was a big thing that was coming up, one of
the major deceptions of the last days. This is Satan's Grand Plan
for harvesting the multitudes of the earth into his cause, just before
the close of the Great Controversy between the forces of good
and evil Demon spirits will declare themselves to be inhabitants of
far distant planets of the galaxies; that are coming to warn the
inhabitants of planet earth of the impending destruction of the
planet, unless something seriously proper is done to avoid it.

They will claim to have out of body experiences [astral projection],

that is some persons are supposed to be able to go into different
places and come back and write all about it. The spirits will through
a trance-medium converse with influential people. A trance-medium
is known today as a channeler. The spirits will show themselves
willing to give valuable guidance that will not only help people
avoid the destruction of the planet, but it will cause it to enter into
a higher state of existence. For instance, he said the spirits will
promise that if their recommendations are followed carefully they
will usher in a glorious new age of peace and prosperity and

modern technology which is leading to the development of the
'Mark of the Beast'. At the same time these spirits are inspiring
scientists to discover the hidden workings of nature so
that they can break down the barrier between the physical world
and the spirit world and to merge the world of men and the world
of spirit entities like fallen angels and demons. Familiar spirits are
also deceiving people through culture, trends and through the ways
of the world. They set people into bondage by making them believe
that if they follow a certain god or a certain path or a ritual they
can gain wealth, fame, power, spiritual enlightenment and success
in life. These familiars seek for people who have
opened their heart and mind to them. They influence and possess
these people and work through them to deceive millions of other
people. As we near the end of this age, let us not be swept by
promises and temptations of modern technology. Let us also not be
swept away by the charisma and lifestyles of the rich and famous
men and women who claim they invented or discovered or created
things. These people have been assisted by Satan and his fallen
angels for their achievements and Satan has rewarded them with
temporary earthly riches and fame. Let us not admire these people
nor follow them but as Jesus says let us store riches in heaven
which are eternal. "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not
break through nor steal:" Matthew 6:20.

portray a grand illusion to people that they achieved the things
they did because of their own strength, perseverance will power

angels] who control this world; they have fallen in worship before

the pineal gland connects the person to the spirit entities of Satan
and receive messages and ideas from them.

Satan looks for people with certain mindsets to advance his

kingdom on earth and to bring the rule of the Antichrist on this
world. People who reject the One True God, people who are willing
to sacrifice and compromise anything for fame, power and wealth,
people who have a dead conscience, people who are willing to sell
their soul for achieving their goal, people who are greedy and lust

for power, people who practice occult and eastern pagan rituals are
the ones whom Satan selects. People who practice yoga,
meditation, hypnosis, use of psychedelic drugs such as DMT, LSD,
Ayahuasca, etc have had their Third Eye/Pineal Gland opened
through which they can receive messages and ideas from the
satanic fallen angels. These people then implement these ideas in
this world. Satan and his fallen angels inspire people with ideas to
discover, invent, create and write things that will advance his plans
on earth to deceive and manipulate people, to bring people of the
world under the Mark of Beast, corrupt the DNA of mankind by
genetic manipulation and to sit on the Throne of God as god.

Many famous scientists, inventors, musicians, actors of all ages

have admitted to taking psychedelic drugs. Some of them have
even claimed that recreational drugs enhance creativity,
inventiveness and intelligence, while others have gone one to
advocate drug usage. A surprising number of society's innovations
have come from dreams and inspiration from demons. An old
meaning of demon means- guiding inspirational spirit."

Fallen angels teaching humans about science and arts is not a new
concept. The Book of Enoch details how the fallen angels taught
mankind different arts before the global flood and thus corrupting
the world. "And they took wives for themselves and everyone chose
for himself one each. And they began to go into them and were
promiscuous with them. And they taught them charms and spells,
and they showed them the cutting of roots and trees". Enoch
7:1. "And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and
shields, and breastplates. And he showed them the things after
these, and the art of making them; bracelets, and ornaments, and
the art of making up the eyes, and of beautifying the eyelids, and
the most precious stones, and all kinds of coloured dyes. And the
world was changed. And there was great impiety, and much
fornication, and they went astray, and all their ways became
corrupt. Amezarak taught all those who cast spells and cut roots,
Armaros the release of spells, and Baraqiel astrologers, and
Kokabiel portents, and Tamiel taught astrology, and Asradel taught

the path of the Moon. And at the destruction of men they cried out;
and their voices reached Heaven". Enoch 8:1-4.
Book of Jasher too records the familiar story of the fall of the
Watchers [angels] then adds an exceptional detail that none of the
other texts are as unequivocal about, something that can only be
understood in modern language to mean advanced biotechnology,
genetic engineering or transgenic modification of species. After
the Watchers had instructed humans "in the secrets of heaven,"
note what Jasher says occurred:
"[Then] the sons of men [began teaching] the mixture of animals of
one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord"
(Jasher 4:18).
Like in ancient times, Satan seeks people whom he can use to
corrupt mankind. And men and women either willingly or
unwillingly are becoming pawns in his hand.

world applauds as great people, known for their inventions,
discoveries, music, acting, etc, but in fact they were inspired
by demonic beings. The world treats these people as great
achievers, like they are somehow unique, smart and special

But in fact, they were inspired by Satan. Satan inspires such
people so that through these men and women he can reach
millions of other people and thus advance his kingdom on

Francis Crick, the Nobel Prize-winning
father of modern genetics, was under

civilization exists. Descartes recounted
that he thought the whole thing up after
a series of dreams. Descartes once
dreamed of an open book. In the dream,
the spirit of Descartes convinced that
his life is intended to show that
mathematical principles are applicable
in the study of nature and can benefit
tremendously.

Thomas Alva Edison was

an American inventor and businessman.
He developed many devices that greatly
influenced life around the world,
including the phonograph, the motion
picture camera, and a long-lasting, the

was a regular user of Vin Mariani, and
commended its stimulating effects,
claiming it helped him stay awake for
longer hours.
Vin Mariani contained cocaine, assorted

Dmitri Mendeleev was passionate

about chemistry. His deepest wish was
to find a better way of organizing the
subject. Mendeleevs wish led to his
discovery of the periodic law and his
creation of the periodic table one of
the most iconic symbols ever seen in
science: almost everyone recognizes it
instantly: science has few other
creations as well-known as the periodic
table.
Using his periodic table, Mendeleev
predicted the existence and properties
of new chemical elements. When these
elements were discovered, his place in
the history of science was assured. At

this time, chemistry was a patchwork of

observations and discoveries.
Mendeleev was certain that better, more
fundamental principles could be found;
this was his mindset when, in 1869, he
began writing a second volume of his
book The Principles of Chemistry. At the
heart of chemistry were its elements.
What, wondered Mendeleev, could they
reveal to him if he could find some way
of organizing them logically? He wrote
the names of the 65 known elements on
cards much like playing cards one
element on each card. He then wrote
the fundamental properties of every
element on its own card, including
atomic weight. He saw that atomic
weight was important in some way the
behavior of the elements seemed to
repeat as their atomic weights
increased but he could not see the
pattern. Convinced that he was close to
discovering something significant,
Mendeleev moved the cards about for
hour after hour until finally he fell
asleep at his desk. When he awoke, he
found that his subconscious mind had
done his work for him! He now knew the
pattern the elements followed. He later
wrote:

reports having a dream three nights in
a row in which he saw the fish in perfect
original condition. The first two nights -being unprepared -- he did not record
his image.
By the third night he was ready with
pen and paper, and when the fish
appeared again in the dream he drew it
in the dark, still half asleep. The next
day he looked at his drawing which had
remarkably different features from the
ones he had been working out, hastened
to his laboratory and extracting the
fossil realized it corresponded exactly to
his dream. Agassiz' creative dream of
the fossilized fish may have been
induced by having perceived
unconsciously a clue in the stone slab
which he had ignored while awake.

Elias Howe invented the sewing

machine in 1845. He had the idea of a
machine with a needle which would go
through a piece of cloth but he couldn't
figure out exactly how it would work. In
his dream, cannibals were preparing to
cook him and they were dancing around
the fire waving their spears. Howe
noticed at the head of each spear there
was a small hole through the shaft and
the up-and-down motion of the spears
and the hole remained with him when
he woke. When he woke up he realized
that the dream had brought the solution
to his problem. By locating a hole at the
tip of the needle, the thread could be
caught after it went through cloth thus
making his machine operable. The idea
of passing the thread through the
needle close to the point, not at the
other end, was a major innovation in

term Avatar, to which he replied, "It's an

remotely located body, a biological
body." The look of the Na'vi the
humanoids indigenous to Pandora was

inspired by a dream that Cameron's

mother had, long before he started work
