President Benigno S.

Aquino III delivered his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July
28, 2014, in the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City.
The President started his speech with a famous and common Filipino saying Ang hindi
marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan And he started
recounting the miseries , chaos and problems of a very weak , unstable and poor Philippines at
the start of his reign. He compared our country to wrecked house to be renovated yet no
resources are available to do so. With humble hearts and sincere voice, the President presented
the transformations , progress and peace his government had done and accomplished .
The President's speech lasted for an hour and a half, focused on the Aquino administration's
achievements. He even presented the beneficiaries and recipients of the so called tuwid na
daan . Many of which are really true , but the desperate question of his Boss ( the Filipino
people ) is How many among the 90 million Filipinos felt the love and the compassion of the
Aquino government ? How many are the chosen ones ? Many are still waiting, aiming , and
hoping for the warmth and sincere touch of the government .

The President is facing three impeachment complaints before the House of Representatives, two
of which cited DAP as basis. What happened to the tuwid na daan ? What happened to the
sincere governance? His BOSSES are in great confusion , who are telling the truth ? To whom
will they believe? Are we still living ,after five years of Aquino government, in the country of
lies and corruption?

Towards the last part of his SONA, Aquino's voice broke and he appeared close to tears while
recalling the memory of his parents, slain Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late President
Corazon Aquino. The President mentioned one of the famous lines of his father " the Filipino is
worth dying for, the Filipino is worth living for, and he added , the Filipino is definitely worth
fighting for,"

In the midst of great distress , as the President got his lowest popularity ratings, as to add the
three impeachment complaints against him ,he still manages to stand up , be firm in what he
believes , in what he knows would bring the Philippines to the greatest success . In sincere
humility , he appealed to be given the chance to go on and finished what he had started to bring
his countrymen back to the tuwid na daan leading to a more economically stable , progressive
and peaceful Philippines .

Many had been published, many had been said , so may accusations, so many issues, so many
confusions , your Boss is puzzled now .Mr. President , are you still our hero ? Are you still the
President we used to dream of ?

The Filipino people could not just believe in whatever you say now . Please show us how a good
and sincere Aquino government could change and transforms our life. We couldn't see any light
now, all we can witness is political war. political instability, one against the other. We need to
see, witness and experience the real transformation .

As a reply to your SONA , your BOSS now says STAND UP WITH YOUR ADVOCACY
AND VALUES ... LEAD US ALL TO THE REAL TUWID NA DAAN ..
Before he ended his speech, President Aquino became sentimental as he left the public with these
following lines; The Filipino is worth dying for, The Filipino is worth living for. The Filipino
is worth fighting for.
Government agencies such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
through the leadership of TESDA head former CIVAC Representative Joel Villanueva. Aside
from TESDA, the PNP, DepEd and DPWH were commended by President PNoy during his
speech as testimonials of benificiaries were highlighted during the Presidents SONA.
Ordinary people who were mentioned by President Aquino during his fifth SONA on Monday
includes former jeepney barker-turned TESDA scholar, Marc Joseph Escora from Bacolod City.
Another TESDA scholar, Jonnalyn Navarosa from Santa Rosa, Laguna also aired her
testimonial.
Aside from the two TESDA scholars, the President also showcased and commended the bravery
of some policewomen who engaged members of the Martilyo Gang at the SM Mall of Asia.
A testimony of an informal settler Gina Lastrado was also played during the Presidents SONA
while an Aeta leader and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learner also thanked the President
as she gave her testimonial during the Pres. PNoys SONA.
IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINTS. The controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program
(DAP) has tainted President Aquino's administration. It has also triggered impeachment
complaints against him. Another impeachment complaint has also been filed against the
President for the equally controversial Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) that
the government signed with the United States.
TERRITORIAL DISPUTES. In the last few years, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)
was made to face a challenge it admittedly had not prepared for: The defense of Philippine

territory from another aggressive nation. To date, the Philippines' territorial disputes versus
China have not been resolved.
PORK BARREL SCAM. The Aquino administration is hounded by the pork barrel scama
scandal so big, it is said to reach the doors of the Palace.
POVERTY. Although Aquino administration says it continues to exert effort to address
joblessness in the country, millions are still mired in poverty.
TRAFFIC WOES. The Aquino administration has its work cut out for it when it comes to
addressing traffic. Traffic in Metro Manila costs government billions of pesos a year and affects
millions of commuters.
AGRICULTURE CHALLENGES. Failure to meet rice self sufficiency targets, skyrocketing
prices of rice and other commodities, and coconut scale insect infestations plague the Aquino
administration.
CRIME. Improving the peace and order situation in the country was high on President Aquinos
priority list in last year's State of the Nation Address. But in the past six months, the number of
crimes reported has gone up.
POWER PROBLEMS. President Aquino finds himself facing the same problem his mother, the
late President Cory Aquino, faced during the last few years of her term: a looming power crisis.
Now, the President must decide if he will declare a power emergency to try to avert the
shortagean option, some fear, could result to rate hikes.
