Overview of Data Science Analyst Position

As Data Science analyst you will be working on various analytical/statistical tools like SAS, R and work within big data environments
such as hadoop, using hive, PIG, map reduce etc.. You will perform data mining techniques and communicate analytical results in
forms that resonate with scientific and/or business collaborators and highlighting actionable insights. You will develop skills in
analytics techniques, data, technologies, thinking for problem definition and hypothesis-based approaches.

Qualifications
Required:

A Masters degree (or be working towards one) in Computer science/Statistics/Applied Mathematics/Operations Research,
Statistics, Econometrics with concentration in data mining/predictive logistic modeling/machine learning/NLP
Experience developing algorithms for any college related data mining projects or academic research
Experience using any statistical software package(s)
Competent programming aptitude with solid computation and data mining skills (with expertise in using SAS and/or SQL)
Knowledge of Big data technologies (Hadoop)
Experience with / knowledge of statistical models, clustering, segmentation. Knowledge of markov models, neural
networks, machine learning would be an added advantage.
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity
Fast learners will be used to augment customer project teams
Experience working (intern or otherwise) in a corporate Analyst-type role, especially with a project, data or process
improvement background
Evidence of leadership skills in extra-curricular activities
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with the MS Office Suite, MS Project and Visualization tools.
Must have strong research experience and skills, including use of Internet based resources
Must be organized, self-motivated and willingness to learn
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required Fluency in oral and written English is a

Must be able to work with little direct supervision and be reliable and dependable
