COMPANY HISTORY
Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993.
At that time the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles.
In 1997, Performance Torque Converters was founded and they started doing torque
converter rebuilds in house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in
house gave them more exibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of
diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for
their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.
Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address
the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer
to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque
Converter and a company focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename
of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.
ATS Diesel Performance is rapidly expanding and offers high performance
transmissions, valve bodies and torque converters, along with high performance
engine upgrades for Cummins, Power Stroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks.
Upgrades and drive train components offered by ATS now equip trucks from all over
the United States, as well as other countries with outstanding results. From full-time
RV users who travel nonstop, to high horsepower competition based vehicles,
ATS has the answers.

All rebuilt ATS high performance transmissions include the
following features: Our rebuilt, dyno tested ATS High Performance Valve
Body, Alloy Steel Pump, Heavy Duty Gear Train, and Clutch Pack. Our heavy duty
transmission pan to provide increased lube volume and cooling capacity. High stress
areas of case are reinforced - Reduces chance of stress cracks. Critical bolt and
thread holes are inserted - Relieves pulled threads or bolts. Valve Body surface is
machined at - Ensures against hydraulic leaks. External surface of case is sealed
- Reduces corrosion and fatigue.

TORQUE CONVERTERS
ATS FIVE STAR TORQUE CONVERTER
The ATS Five Star Torque Converter is a revolutionary
torque converter that utilizes innovative Viskus Clutch Drive
technology while incorporating traditional technologies of
conventional torque converters.
The Viskus clutch drive, along with the uid-coupling
portion of the torque converter, share in the responsibility
of transferring power through the torque converter. Unlike
other torque converters that rely only on uid transfer from
the impeller to the turbine via the stator, the Five Star
utilizes a Viskus Clutch Drive technology that transfers
rotational energy from the engine to the transmission.
This Fluid Assist technology developed by ATS helps
transmit energy to the transmission in conjunction with the
uid-coupling section of the torque converter. This Fluid
Assist technology results in less stress being placed
on the torque converter while simultaneously enhancing
the uid coupling of the torque converter making it more
efcient. This added efciency means less mechanical
energy is turned into heat and less heat means that more
power is transferred to the transmission.
At low speeds the Viskus Clutch Drive design has less
effect on power transfer allowing for optimal stall speed.
As the engine to transmission RPM differential speed is
increased the efciency of the torque converter increases.
When the transmission input speed is equal to engine
speed, uid is reversed through the Viskus Clutch Drive.
This uid reversal compresses the ve clutch plates
providing a 100% mechanical bond ensuring no plate
slippage during lock up even at power levels of 2000 +
foot pounds of torque.
Optimal stall speed, maximum torque multiplication and
100% efciency is now possible with the innovation of
the ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch Drive torque converter.
Simply put, the Five Star Toque Converters efcient design
equates to higher fuel economy, better performance and
unsurpassed reliability.

FIVE STAR TORQUE CONVERTER
The ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch Drive Torque Converter
is a revolutionary new torque converter that utilizes new
Viskus Clutch Drive technology while incorporating some
traditional technologies of conventional torque converters.
The Five Star Torque Converter provides 100% efciency
with optimal stall speed and maximum torque multiplication.
The Five Star Viskus Clutch Torque Converters unique design
equates to increased power, unsurpassed reliability, better towing
performance and improved fuel efciency for higher M.P.G.

ATS COMMANDER
Electronic Transmission
Push button control allows the driver to select the speed at which the converter clutch will
engage and disengage. With the power off the Commander reverts to factory control.
Minimum speed for lockup is approximately 18 m.p.h. This means that the engine
will not be killed by forgetting to unlock the converter clutch when coming to a stop.
The Commander offers better acceleration and cooler running, as well as giving the
user braking or hold back (even without an exhaust brake). If an exhaust brake is in
place, the Commander has the ability to automatically control the brake and converter
clutch.

TRANSMISSION CONTROL
SYSTEMS
Controlling the 5R-110 or 4R-100 transmission is now
possible with the release of the ATS Select Shift Standalone
Transmission Controller. The ATS Select Shift simply plugs into any 5R110 or 4R-100 transmission and allows for full control of the transmission.
Shift timing, lockup, and line pressure are fully laptop programmable. Tailoring
the optimal strategy only takes a few hours to dial in the exact mapping for your
vehicle. Add one to six adjustable analog potentiometers to adjust shift or lockup
timing, shift quality, or line pressure on the y. This is the most powerful, easyto-use, plug-and-play transmission control system available today. This system is
intended for conversion purposes when installing a 5R-110 or 4R-100 transmission.
This system Does Not support external controls such as cruise control and Does Not communicate with factory pcm.

The Aurora Turbo System is designed with performance
in mind. When looking for extreme performance with
unsurpassed reliability, now you have a choice. ATS
offers Turbo Charger Upgrade Packages for the Ford
6.0L and coming soon for the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel,
designed for special applications such as heavy towing
or extreme performance race applications. The Aurora Turbo System gives you
extreme efciency and ATS offers two frame sizes in the Aurora Family.
AURORA
2000
The Aurora 2000 turbo is a quick response, high pressure ratio turbo system intended
for every day driving and heavy towing. When towing extreme loads with the stock
turbo charger, there are issues when the turbo cant keep up, causing extreme
exhaust temperatures. The Aurora 2000 provides the air ow to the engine to ensure
reliability while maintaining low EGTs.

5000
For the diesel hot rodder of today, there is no substitute for the Aurora
5000. With a ve inch Intake Shroud and perfectly matched Turbine
Section, this is the turbo for extreme performance. Just try to nd another
turbo that produces 60+ PSI and can be driven every day! The Aurora
5000 is not just a replacement turbo. The kit comes complete with a new
turbo base, clockwise rotation turbo, high-ow four inch intake plumbing and
all necessary hardware to install on the engine. When looking for the most
extreme in single turbo performance, the Aurora 5000 is the only choice for
the 6.0L diesel engine.
The ATS 6.9 and 7.3 Turbo System uses a large bypass
valve that is engineered to accommodate the engine
exhaust gas volume. By using a large bypass valve
and a large nal exhaust expansion chamber we
maintain very low exhaust back pressure. This
low back pressure results in increased combustion
efciency. Combined with recommended fuel settings
up to a 50% increase in RWHP is achieved.

The ATS Wastegate Turbine Housing for the 1995-1997 Powerstroke is unique in
design and function. The unit has an external adjustable wastegate that is accessible
and easy to adjust. Exhaust gasses pass through a separate chamber and advance
through a wastegate valve before entering the scroll, or volute section, of the turbine
housing. This maintains exhaust gas velocity for faster turbine spin-up and throttle
response, and also alleviates back-pressure. It gives an 8-12 horsepower increase to
the rear wheels.

The ATS Ported Shroud Compressor Housing is designed to increase your turbo
life by eliminating the damaging effect of compressor surge. When performance
products are added to increase horsepower, the compressor wheel accelerates
faster and compressor surge and utter becomes more apparent and damaging. Our
Compressor Housing is designed with a 4 intake and exclusive inducer bleed ring.
This results in a 13% increase in choke ow allowing more air into the compressor
wheel, and inducer bleed broadens the range of the compressor wheel, smooths out
air ow and eliminates turbo compressor surge. Note that the stock compressor housing only has
a 3 intake.

ELECTRONIC PERFORMANCE
Today diesel performance is widely achieved with the
addition of plug-in electronics. Choosing the correct
module for your application can be confusing and there
are some important considerations to keep in mind:
Towing modules are in the 50-70 HP range and power levels above this
require protective precautions, such as an exhaust gas temperature gauge
and an automatic power back down capability which is achieved with the
Edge Juice Module. When adding an electronic module, an ATS Exhaust
System is recommended for lower EGTs. When using more than one module
in combination or stacking, an upgraded turbo system and an upgraded
intake system are recommended for maximum benet.
E-POWER PROGRAMMER
The ATS E-Power tuner is the most complete option for the 6.0L and 7.3L
Ford. This programmer includes three tuning les capable of adding 30-170
HP. Not only are engine functions controlled but transmission functions
are also recalibrated to improve transmission life. Use the tuner to
retrieve diagnostic trouble codes and clear items if needed..
EDGE JUICE
The Edge Juice is the best middle of the road choice for
performance enthusiast. The Edge Juice is a plug in module that
installs in the engine compartment. It features three power levels with
power gains from 40-115 horsepower and torque gains up to 290
FP. The Juice features an in cab adjustable switch and the Juice
lengthens the injection pulse and adjusts the injection timing. This
provides smooth precise power delivery and power curves that
are custom tailored rather than offset from stock. The module
improves throttle response, drive ability and towing performance.
The Juice is weatherproof with a rugged design. Add the Attitude
or A2 Monitor, both of which have a gauge display, are able to
monitor exhaust gas temperatures and able to de fuel at user
dened temperatures.
ATTITUDE MONITOR
The Attitude Monitor is a plug-in add-on accessory to be used with the Juice Power
Module. The monitor mounts on the dash or A-pillar and allows for easy viewing of
your exhaust temperature, boost and other statistics.

The ATS Attitude Mount is an inexpensive mounting plate that is easy to install. The

FUEL DELIVERY
Fuel delivery is the key to big power. Reliability of recision
high pressure fuel injection pumps is largely credited to
clean, non-ariated fuel. Diesel fuel cavitates very easily, and
this cavitation creates air bubbles. The air bubbles allow the
mechanical parts of the pump to make contact, because
the diesel fuel is the lubricating oil for the pumps. This
cavitation causes extreme wear to the precision injection
pump. Lack of fuel hinders the ability of the engine to make
power. Getting clean, pure, high volume diesel fuel to the
main injector pump is key for high powered, reliable, long
lasting performance of any diesel engine. The pump shown is
also available without the lters and air separation.

recommends for improved performance and lower

Factory systems use restriction in the mufer to remove noise which
creates back pressure and causes extreme exhaust temperatures.

BRAKE SYSTEMS
HIGH PRESSURE BRAKE
PRXB is a revolutionary advancement in braking technology, as it signicantly
improves braking power with 1 3 more retarding horsepower than a traditional
xed orice exhaust brake at 1500 RPM. The PRXB has been engineered
to maximize braking power as the new superior design allows for constant
back pressure as engine speeds change, maintaining optimum retarding
performance through the entire RPM range.
Silent retarding allows the driver safety and control in the busiest
urban areas where engine brakes are prohibited. Installing the
PRXB on the Power Stroke diesel truck will enhance exhaust brake
performance at midrange decreasing the number of brake relines by
as many as 5 times over the life of the vehicle. The customer could
save up to $7500 in maintenance costs which increases their return
on investment and more importantly provides added control for peace
of mind.

the key to Diesel Injection. Stage 3 Injectors require

ATS FIVE STAR TORQUE CONVERTER
The ATS Five Star Torque Converter is a revolutionary
torque converter that utilizes innovative Viskus Clutch Drive
technology while incorporating traditional technologies of
conventional torque converters.
The Viskus clutch drive, along with the uid-coupling
portion of the torque converter, share in the responsibility
of transferring power through the torque converter. Unlike
other torque converters that rely only on uid transfer from
the impeller to the turbine via the stator, the Five Star
utilizes a Viskus Clutch Drive technology that transfers
rotational energy from the engine to the transmission.
This Fluid Assist technology developed by ATS helps
transmit energy to the transmission in conjunction with the
uid-coupling section of the torque converter. This Fluid
Assist technology results in less stress being placed on the
torque converter while simultaneously enhancing the uid
coupling of the torque converter making it more efcient.
This added efciency means less mechanical energy is
turned into heat and less heat means that more power is
transferred to the transmission.
At low speeds the Viskus Clutch Drive design has less
effect on power transfer allowing for optimal stall speed.
As the engine to transmission RPM differential speed is
increased the efciency of the torque converter increases.
When the transmission input speed is equal to engine
speed, uid is reversed through the Viskus Clutch Drive.
This uid reversal compresses the ve clutch plates
providing a 100% mechanical bond ensuring no plate
slippage during lock up even at power levels of 2000 +
foot pounds of torque.
Optimal stall speed, maximum torque multiplication and
100% efciency is now possible with the innovation of
the ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch Drive torque converter.
Simply put, the Five Star Toque Converters efcient design
equates to higher fuel economy, better performance and

The ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch Drive Torque Converter
is a revolutionary new torque converter that utilizes new
Viskus Clutch Drive technology while incorporating some
traditional technologies of conventional torque converters.
The Five Star Torque Converter provides 100% efciency
with optimal stall speed and maximum torque multiplication. The
Five Star Viskus Clutch Torque Converters unique design
equates to increased power, unsurpassed reliability, better towing
performance and improved fuel efciency for higher M.P.G.

ATS COMMANDER
The ATS Commander provides control over converter lockup in your vehicle. Factory
computers are programmed to disengage lockup under many conditions that often inhibit
the performance of the transmission. With a Five Star Torque Converter in place, these
situations to unlock the converter are no longer an issue, due to the HD construction of
Five Star. Push button control allows the driver to select the speed at which the converter
clutch will engage and disengage.
With the power off the Commander reverts to factory control. Minimum speed for lockup
is approximately 18 m.p.h. This means that the engine will not be killed by forgetting
to unlock the converter clutch when coming to a stop. The Commander offers better
acceleration and cooler running, as well as giving the user braking or hold back even
without an exhaust brake. If an exhaust brake is in place, the Commander has the
ability to automatically control the brake and converter clutch.

The ATS External Transmission Cooling System helps to keep your transmission running
at optimal temperatures. Cooler ow is a key factor in keeping temperatures in check.
The Lubrication Circuit is responsible for over 90% of transmission cooling.
Transmission coolers must not restrict ow from and to the transmission, and
must extract heat efciently. When choosing a transmission cooler, it is critical to
choose the one that is a self-regulating cooler. A self-regulating cooler allows the
transmission uid to pass through it under cool operating temperatures to allow gear
train lubrication while still providing maximum cooling efciency under extremely hot
operating conditions. A thermostatically controlled, fan-forced (reversible rotation),
low pressure drop unit is the preferred choice when choosing an optimal transmission
cooler for your vehicle. Utilizing an ATS Diesel Extra Deep Transmission Pan coupled
with an External Transmission Cooling System ensures that you have a fool-proof
way of beating the heat.

12 VALVE INJECTOR PUMP
The famous Cummins P-7100 Twelve Valve In line Injector Pump can be
purchased from ATS in two different power levels. Both pumps come with
3000 RPM Governor Springs installed and fully rebuilt for 100% reliability.
The Stage 1 Pump is for towing, with a moderate power increase of
approximately 200 HP over stock. The Stage 2 Pump is designed
more for race applications, offering power levels to 600 HP over
stock. This pump is recommended for use with a minimum of the
Aurora 5000 Turbo or compound (twin) turbo chargers.

FUEL PLATE
Increasing fuel to the Cummins P-7100 Pump is easy with the addition of a Fuel Plate. There
are eight fuel plates to choose from. This is the governing controller responsible
for limiting fuel to the diesel engine. Power levels of 50-130 HP can be attained
by the simple addition of a fuel plate.
DELIVERY VALVES
The Delivery Valves are the key items that should be changed for maximum fuel
delivery. Extreme amounts of fuel can be injected into the cylinder when high ow
delivery valves are installed.
GOVERNOR SPRINGS
Governor Springs determine the maximum RPM that the engine will turn while under
power. Installing a set of 3000 RPM springs will raise the operating range of the
Cummins from 2550 RPM to 3200 RPM. This increased RPM is awesome for towing
and performance.
VALET SWITCH
Installing the Valet Switch allows the driver to simply turn off the additional power at the ip of
a switch. This easy-to-install system gives the driver complete control, and is a must for any
Stage 2 Pump or after any of the above components have been added to a stock pump.

The Aurora Turbo Systems are designed with

a choice. ATS offers Turbo Charger Upgrade Packages
for the Dodge Cummins diesel for special applications
such as heavy towing or extreme performance race applications. The Aurora
Turbo System has been designed for extreme efciency and ATS offers two frame
sizes in the Aurora Family. All of the Aurora Turbo kits come complete with a 4
down pipe and complete installation hardware kit.
AURORA 2000
The Aurora 2000 turbo is a quick response, high pressure ratio turbo
system intended for every day driving and heavy towing. When towing
extreme loads with the stock turbo charger, there are issues when
the turbo cant keep up, causing extreme exhaust temperatures. The
Aurora 2000 provides the air ow to the engine to ensure reliability
while maintaining low EGTs.

AURORA MST
The Aurora MST (Multi Stage Turbo) is the latest innovation from ATS.
As wasted exhaust energy from the engine enters the turbine section
of the turbo, the exhaust ow is diverted into only one volute section
by a variable valve. This allows quick spool up of the turbo at low
speeds.
As the variable valve opens for increased air ow, the exhaust is opened
to both volute sections of the turbo, allowing the engine to breath.
This reduction in exhaust pressure increases engine efciency, reduces
exhaust temperatures, and increases economy. Now you have that big
turbo performance with small turbo spool up. A key element of proper
turbo sizing is the delicate balance between exhaust pressure and intake
boost pressure. The innovative design of the Aurora MST automatically
balances the pressures, optimizing turbo efciency and response.
The response of the variable valve can be adjusted by using the adjustment
screw to dial it in for your unique engine conguration. We have also engineered
into the design an internal wastegate to protect from an over boost condition. The
wastegate can also be adjusted for the exact max boost level desired.

This kit combines our Aurora 2000 turbo and our Aurora
5000 turbo which are designed specically to be in a twin/
compound conguration. Each turbo compliments the
performance of the other, with the small turbo allowing quick
spool up, and the large turbo delivering massive power. The
large turbo features a CNC machined forged aluminum billet
compressor wheel, which sustains a very high pressure
ratio without high mileage fatigue. The small turbo features
an extended tip compressor wheel to generate high boost
without high mileage fatigue.
This innovative system uses the
existing Dodge factory components
to t into the engine without interfering with any other components
in the engine. There are no welded anges or pipes. All
components are die cast. The custom designed die cast internal
waste gate allows the large turbo to be securely mounted and
center lined with the factory exhaust. There is no need to buy
any additional equipment or components to use this system.
This system includes an ATS Multi-Piece Exhaust Manifold,
CUSTOM CAST MANGANESE
which has pulse exhaust ow design, helping to spool up

and increased fuel efciency. This pulse manifold design eliminates the problems

AURORA 5000
For maximum power and boost from a single turbo, there is just no substitute for
the Aurora 5000. The Aurora 5000 utilizes a ve inch compressor intake and is
capable of boost levels of over 60 PSI. This is the only single turbo production
kit available that is capable of producing power levels of over 600 HP on diesel
fuel alone while providing some Street Ability.

ELECTRONIC PERFORMANCE
There are some important considerations to keep
in mind when choosing electronic upgrades. Towing
modules are in the 50-70 HP range, and power levels
above this require protective precautions, such as an Exhaust
Gas Temperature Gauge and automatic power back down capability
which is achieved with the Edge Juice Module. When adding an electronic
module, an ATS Exhaust System is recommended for lower EGTs. When using
more than one module in combination, or stacking, an upgraded Turbo System
and an upgraded Intake System are also recommended for maximum benet.
ATS E-POWER
The ATS E-Power tuner is the most complete option for your Dodge. This
programmer includes three tuning les capable of adding 30-170 HP. Not only
are engine functions controlled but transmission functions are also recalibrated
to improve transmission life. This tuner has both end user adjustment and high
speed data logging capabilities with 2 analog inputs. Using the keypad will allow
you to make changes to upshift points and shift pressures. You can monitor and
data log all critical parameters by connecting the E-Power tuner to your PC using
the Live Link software or by using the built in LCD display. The
T E-Power can
also read and clear data trouble codes output by the OEM computer.

POWERMAX CR
The PowerMax CR adds 180HP and 550FP of torque at
the ground for the 2003+ Common Rail Dodge. Power is
gained by adjusting pulse duration and advancing timing.
With built in digital gauges the module will automatically
pyro-limit fuel delivery if an Overheat condition is sensed.
EDGE JUICE
The Edge Juice is the best middle of the road choice for performance
enthusiast. The Edge Juice is a plug in module that installs in the engine
compartment. Without the Attitude Monitor, the Juice features three power levels
with power gains from 40-115 horsepower and torque gains up to 290 FP. The
Juice also lengthens the injection pulse and adjusts the injection timing.
This provides smooth precise power delivery and power curves that are

FUEL DELIVERY
Fuel delivery is the key to big power. Reliability of
precision high pressure fuel injection pumps is largely
credited to clean, non-ariated fuel. Diesel fuel cavitates
very easily, and this cavitation creates air bubbles. The air
bubbles allow the mechanical parts of the pump to make contact,
because the diesel fuel is the lubricating oil for the pumps. This cavitation
causes extreme wear to the precision injection pump. Lack of fuel hinders
the ability of the engine to make power. Getting clean, pure, high volume
diesel fuel to the main injector pump is key for high powered, reliable, long

TORQUE PRO
The Torque Pro can be added to any turbo charged diesel engine. This system
is extremely versatile and can be tailored to a drivers individual needs.
To give you an example you can adjust the Hobbs pressure switch between 3.1
to 20 psi. This will control whether the propane ows when youre driving around
town with an empty truck or when youre fully loaded and working the truck. You can
also adjust the venturi and orice sizes to control the volume of ow and at what RPM
the propane ow begins. In addition to the system adjustments, the driver can turn
the system on or off at any time from inside the cab with an illuminated toggle on/off
switch.
One of the most unique features of the Torque Pros regulator is its ability to precisely
meter vaporized propane into the intake stream. Propane injection is much like gasoline,
there is an Air To Fuel Ratio that is optimal for fuel economy and different ratio that is best
for maximum power. The patented design of the ATS regulator ensures the optimal amount
of propane is injected into the diesel airstream at all times so the Torque Pro can be set to

WATER INJECTION
Free power, one of the oldest
forms of power, has now been
modernized. The most detrimental
effects on a diesel is exhaust heat.
Keeping a diesel engine cool is the key to
engine reliability and extended power output.
When water is injected into a diesel engine
in a precise metered fashion, a few
things happen that are very benecial
to the engine. As the water is vaporized into the hot intake
charge, the air is cooled, creating a condensation affect. This
condensation affect allows more air molecules to reside in the
same area. This denser air allows for more oxygen to enter
into the engine, resulting in increased power and lower EGTs.
Another effect of water when injected at the correct ratio is a
steam engine effect. As the combustion process takes place,
the water separates into hydrogen and oxygen. This chemical
reaction produces power from the water separation process.
Another benet of water injection is the engine cleaning effect. The
water scrubs carbon from the engine head, intake, and exhaust valves
while increasing efciency, power, and economy.

ATS FIVE STAR TORQUE CONVERTER
The ATS Five Star Torque Converter is a revolutionary
torque converter that utilizes innovative Viskus Clutch Drive
technology while incorporating traditional technologies of
conventional torque converters.
The Viskus clutch drive, along with the uid-coupling
portion of the torque converter, share in the responsibility
of transferring power through the torque converter. Unlike
other torque converters that rely only on uid transfer from
the impeller to the turbine via the stator, the Five Star
utilizes a Viskus Clutch Drive technology that transfers
rotational energy from the engine to the transmission.
This Fluid Assist technology developed by ATS helps
transmit energy to the transmission in conjunction with the
uid-coupling section of the torque converter. This Fluid
Assist technology results in less stress being placed on the
torque converter while simultaneously enhancing the uid
coupling of the torque converter making it more efcient.
This added efciency means less mechanical energy is
turned into heat and less heat means that more power is
transferred to the transmission.
At low speeds the Viskus Clutch Drive design has less
effect on power transfer allowing for optimal stall speed.
As the engine to transmission RPM differential speed is
increased the efciency of the torque converter increases.
When the transmission input speed is equal to engine
speed, uid is reversed through the Viskus Clutch Drive.
This uid reversal compresses the ve clutch plates
providing a 100% mechanical bond ensuring no plate
slippage during lock up even at power levels of 2000 +
foot pounds of torque.
Optimal stall speed, maximum torque multiplication and
100% efciency is now possible with the innovation of
the ATS Five Star Viskus Clutch Drive torque converter.
Simply put, the Five Star Toque Converters efcient design
equates to higher fuel economy, better performance and
unsurpassed reliability.

CLUTCH PACKS
Make no mistake when comparing one clutch pack
to another. ATS innovation comes through again in the
internal components of the Allison 1000 Transmission.
All of the Clutch Packs you see here are unique by design and exclusive to
ATS. ATS has a long history in the transmission industry and this has given us
the ability to experience many manufacturer errors and gives us the opportunity to
apply that experience to our Clutch Packs.
Starting with the C-1 Clutch Pack, we offer our single sided 16 friction surface (stock
is 12) laser cut steel core Clutch Pack. The friction composition and steel used in this
clutch is a large part of its incredible reliability and resistance to severe abuse.
Features of the C-3 Clutch Pack (3rd and 5th) is its ability to hold huge amounts of
torque. Our Clutch Pack has 178% more surface area over the factory clutch Pack. With
a redesigned Piston, Ring Gear Spacer, and Six Disc Clutch Pack, torque capacity is
no longer an issue.

The ATS Co-Pilot upgrade kit for the Allison 1000 transmission
solves the major problems with the stock Allison LCT-1000. When
you turn up the power of the Duramax, the stock Allison 1000
transmission begins to slip in 5th gear, and the
factory single-disc torque converter lockup clutch
begins to slip.
The Slippage causes the Allison 1000 transmission
computer to send a De-Fuel signal to the engine
computer causing lower and lower power output. When the
transmission is allowed to slip excessively, the transmission
will go into Fail-safe mode disengaging completely.
Our Co-Pilot upgrade kit for the Allison includes all the components
necessary to increase the torque capacity of the stock transmission by
approximately 200 foot pounds of torque. This kit makes it possible to transfer
100% of the power developed by a modied engine to the rear wheels without
causing the dreaded transmission slip and fail safe condition that plagues
the Allison transmission. This kit allows the transmissions clutch packs to
receive full line pressure (clamping force needed to apply the clutches)
during high power situations. The stock Allison LCT-1000/2000 and
2400 transmissions torque capacity has been reduced by limiting
the pressure that is available in the clutch packs. The stock Allison
transmission only receives approximately 86 PSI oil pressure to the clutch
packs when in 5th gear.
After the addition of the Co-Pilot transmission system, the transmission clutch
packs receive approximately 230 PSI. By allowing the available line pressure to the
clutch packs we have designed a system that increases the torque capacity of the
Allison transmission by over 200 foot pounds of torque with the simple addition of our
Co-Pilot transmission kit. When the ATS pump kit and converter (part of the TriplePack upgrade kit) is installed in addition to the Co-Pilot the clutch pack pressures
are around 290 PSI during high power conditions. This is a 170% hydraulic increase
in torque capacity. This increased pressure is only in effect during high engine torque
output, unlike other mechanical kits that do not use electronic controls. This removes the
concern of excessive pressure on vital transmission parts such as delivery rings, drums,
shafts etc. during normal operation. There were great concerns during development of
this kit to ensure long transmission life along with great performance. If more holding
force is needed beyond what this kit supplies, the Five Star Torque Converter can be
added.

The Hummer Extreme Transmission Package From ATS is for Hummer H-1
and H-2 Transmissions. Ats offers an extreme HD Transmission and Five Star
package for the 4L80-E, 4L60, and 4L65-E transmissions. The 4L60 and 4L65
transmissions are light duty units by factory design. The ATS Extreme Duty 4L60
and 4L65 Transmissions each feature billet shafts, an oversized pump, a heavy duty

The Torque Pro can be added to any turbo
charged diesel engine. This system is extremely versatile and can be tailored to a drivers
individual needs.
To give you an example you can adjust the Hobbs pressure switch between 3.1 to 20 psi. This
will control whether the propane ows when youre driving around town with an empty truck or
when youre fully loaded and working the truck. You can also adjust

ATS E-POWER PROGRAMMER
The ATS E-Power Programmer releases power from
the Duramax engine like no other programmer. The timing
and fuel tables are designed to provide economy at lower level
and extreme performance at higher levels. Fuel efciency is a balance of
precise fuel metering with exact timing control. The lower level is intended for
maximum fuel economy while only boosting power minimally. While the Tow
program delivers explosive torque and economy while keeping reasonable ESTs.
When Looking for massive power there is no replacement for the Race setting.
Power levels of over 225 hp over stock are not uncommon with minor air modications.
The E-Power also retains the stock programming in memory. The E-Power can
read and clear data trouble codes output by the OEM computer.
DURAMAXIMIZER
The Duramaximizer controls fuel rail pressure as engine load is increased,
so there is no effect on the fuel pressure unless engine demand and load are
high. The Duramaximizer provides more power, less smoke and manageable
exhaust temps, with an average power increase around 70 HP and 120 FP.

JUICE
The Juice With Attitude Monitor is a plug in module that features three power
levels with gains from 50-100 HP and torque gains from 150-265 FP. The
Juice lengthens the injection pulse and adjusts the injection timing, providing
smooth precise power delivery, improved throttle response, drive ability and
towing performance.

WATER BOY
Free power, one of the oldest
forms of power, has now been
modernized. The most detrimental
effects on a diesel is exhaust heat. Keeping
a diesel engine cool is the key to engine
reliability and extended power output. When
water is injected into a diesel engine in
a precise metered fashion, a few things
happen that are very benecial to the engine. As the water
is vaporized into the hot intake charge, the air is cooled,
creating a condensation effect. This condensation effect
allows more air molecules to reside in the same area. This
denser air allows for more oxygen to enter into the engine,
resulting in increased power and lower EGTs. Another effect of
water when injected at the correct ratio is a steam engine effect.
As the combustion process takes place, the water separates into
hydrogen and oxygen. This chemical reaction produces power from the
water separation process. Another benet of water injection is the engine
cleaning effect. The water scrubs carbon from the engine head, intake,
and exhaust valves. This is especially resilient on late model EGR type
diesels. California and all 2003 and later diesels have a very bad intake
carbon build up problem. Water injection almost completely resolves this
common problem while increasing efciency, power, and economy.

answer. Power levels of over 600 hp are only possible

After installing oversized injectors or the Extreme

FUEL DELIVERY
Fuel delivery is the key to big power. Reliability of precision high pressure
fuel injection pumps is largely credited to clean, non-ariated fuel. Diesel
fuel cavitates very easily, and this cavitation creates air bubbles. The
air bubbles allow the mechanical parts of the pump to make contact,
because the diesel fuel is the lubricating oil for the pumps. This
cavitation causes extreme wear to the precision injection pump.
Lack of fuel hinders the ability of the engine to make power.
Getting clean, pure, high volume diesel fuel to the main
injector pump is key for high powered, reliable, long
lasting performance of any diesel engine.

HOW DIESEL ENGINES WORK
The diesel engines can be easily and inexpensively upgraded to produce more power while
maintaining the economy we have all learned to love. We will start with some basic explanation
of how a diesel engine works.
All diesel engines are relatively the same and the biggest differences we see between the
different models are the type of injection used to inject the diesel fuel into the engine. Over the
years manufactures have made advancements in High-pressure fuel injection systems, allowing more
efcient injection of the diesel fuel. This efciency equates to better fuel economy, higher power output,
and less black smoke. All of these systems are upgradable, you just go about it in different ways.
It does not matter what type of diesel injection system you have, the theory of internal operation is the
same. All diesel injection systems have one thing in common-they all control the power output of the engine
by managing the fuel injected into the engine.
The turbo charger is driven by heat from the expanding gasses that exit the engines exhaust manifold.
Accelerating the turbine causing it to spin the compressor wheel. The compressor creates boost, which
pressurizes the intake of the engine. The increased airow to the engine aids with the efciency of the burn cycle
and the end result is increased power output with lower exhaust gas temperatures.
The turbo charger is a variable airow system. As exhaust pressure is increased through the turbine side (Exhaust
side) of the turbo charger, the back pressure increases along with it. As the back pressure in the exhaust manifold
increases, air compresses causing heat. This back pressure keeps the exhaust trapped in the combustion
chamber and fresh cool air cannot be fed into the combustion chamber. To make things worse, the intake and
exhaust systems on these vehicles are usually very restrictive. There are a few external items that will address
this condition. Examples would be a larger exhaust or air ltration systems.
The stock transmission is a good building block and is where ATS begins when upgrading your transmission.
Not surprisingly, the factory transmission does have some major failures logged in its books, but most of
the failures, however, are not directly the fault of the transmission. The torque converter has been the
number one cause of transmission failure since the mighty diesel engine was placed in front of it. You might
ask yourself how the torque converter can be responsible for the demise of the transmission, especially
considering the overdrive is usually the major failure. To answer this well look at the lubrication circuit.
The lubrication circuit is a hugely critical element in the transmission. The lubrication oil starts in the sump
of the transmission. The oil is pulled from the sump to the high-pressure pump and distributed to the valve
body. The valve body diverts the oil for providing the working pressure that is used to apply clutches, bands
and other pressure circuits that are necessary for transmission operation and lubricating oil to the torque
converter. This lubrication oil is used by the torque converter to push the hot oil from the converter to
the cooler and the other to apply the torque converter lockup clutch when commanded by the computer.
When the torque converter is in a uid coupling, the uid is churned between the impeller, turbine and stator
portion of the torque converter. This uid coupling has slip, which generates tremendous heat. As long as
the stock converter is not pushed too long in the uid-coupling mode, the cooling system is usually effective
enough to maintain a temperature that will not destroy the transmission. Torque converter failure occurs
during this process and this is one area we improve on with our Five Star Torque Converter.
With a basic understanding of the operation of the turbo diesel engine and the transmission/converter, you
will be in a better position to build a package that best suits your needs. Increasing the power output of your
diesel engine can be achieved with very simple performance upgrades. Remember when performing these
power enhancements, the high-output power modules supply the engine with large increases in fuel, which
generate excess heat. The higher money items may not give you the big power enhancements you may
desire at rst but they will, however, give the engine the air it needs to keep harmful exhaust temperatures
down, along with a very good building block for fuel enhancements. After the air requirements have been
achieved, you can safely move into the larger fuel modules or pump upgrades.
When your engine has the air necessary to burn the increased diesel from the larger exhaust and intake
system, you will get the full effect from the fuel enhancers along with maintaining fuel economy. Next I will
discuss the latest air and fuel technologies for increasing power and economy without
sacricing reliability starting with fuel injection.
