A TASTE OF INDIA
They have a tropical climate. From October to march, it's cool and dry. And from April to May it's
hot and very wet. From June to September, it's hot and very wet, it's the Monsoon season. During the
Monsoon season, India experiences very strong storms and winds. At the north of India there is the
Himalayas, which highest pick is the mount Everest, which is the highest in the world. At the south
of the Himalayas, there is a flat area, Ganges flows through it. And ath the south of India there is a
high flat area. Hinduism is the religion of India. Gods and goddesses represent the qualities and
powers of one supreme god. They have many celebrations and festivals, like Diwali. They believe
that the place where rivers meet is sacred. They build platforms called ghats, so pilgrims can bath
easily in the river Ganges. Diwali is the most important festival of the year, and it's placed at the end
of October. During Diwali, traditional histories are remembered, like Rama and Sita.
At their food they use many spices. They eat different food depending on the area and the religion.
Many Indians are vegetarian. Hindus don't eat beef, and Muslins don't eat pork. Rich people have
knives and forks, but most people eat with hands. Daal is made with pulses, like lentils, chickpeas
and kidney beans. Ghee is a butter used on cooking. Saffron is the world most expensive spice, and
it's the symbol of hospitality. And chilly pepper is a very hot pepper used in Indian food.
