windowpane check fabric upholstery (in neutral and
muted shades to keep it quaint) with floors clad in retro
mosaics or terrazzo marble. To complete this honest
and laidback style, clad the rest of the surfaces with

art deco
Pizzazz

the black swan

A newly opened bar and

restaurant has captured
the essence of the roaring
twenties, nailing it with
luxurious art deco interiors.

Indulgent, glamorous and lustrous, the art deco

theme here comes to life with a mix of geometric
elements in metal, stone and wood. Pick high-gloss
laminates embellished with simple but bold patterns,
and offset the shimmer with dark, matte-finish veined
marble. To play up the visual depth of flat surfaces,
opt for textured materials such as embossed laminates.

The Black Swan is located at 19 Cecil Street,

Grungy
Industrial

With an effortlessly cool vibe akin

to an artists den, this bar will
resonate with those who want
to avoid cookie cutter styles for
their home. Attitude is essential.

art bar
This artsy space sports a nonchalant flair that is formed
by materials that appear imperfect think of surfaces
that look like oxidised metal or mottled glass. To add
to this ramshackle effect, throw in rough-textured
laminates in dull, rusty shades. Artwork or tiles printed
with graffiti-like graphics work as great accents to tie
up this edgy look.

Art Bar is located at #02-02/03/04, 1 Fullerton Road,

key colours
Unexpected shades should be included in this
look to reflect its audacious character. Both a rusty
shade of brown and a racy red would work well
together as accents.
