I work at Wal-Mart, cleaning washrooms.
People dirty the washrooms REALLY quickly.
People don't keep their ass clean, which leaves the toilets looking kinda gross.
..
Some people don't know how to not get shit or urine on the seat. It's like they
don't know how to toilet.
Oh, and about 40-50% of the guys I see using the washroom while I clean it don't
wash their hands. Children wash them more often.
Oh, and some women get their blood on the toilet.

She people see nice things, they tend to keep it that way. When people see a rea
lly nice restroom with beautiful tiles and stainless steel sinks, they tend to w
ipe the toilets and flush after they're done. When they see a shitty restroom wi
th broken tiles, nasty grime, they don't give two shits about dirtying it up.

When I leave a Walmart my soul feels dirtier than usual.
permalinkparent
[ ]TrollyMcTrollster 8 points 32 minutes ago
I made the unfortunate decision to order something from walmart.com and did the
store pick up option at store #2609. I bought some large presents and a game, we
ll the game i received was empty. I went back to get my money back and was told
i should contact the manufacturer by the store manager and refused a refund. I'm
pretty sure one of the employees standing around eating fritos had something to
do with it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to reseal a game. I ended up goi
ng to best buy to buy the game again and I'm out a couple bucks but I learned th
e lesson of never doing business with walmart. It's true I rather go to Target t
o avoid going to walmart.

Reminds me of when I was a customer service manager at walmart. I stood around e

Oddly enough, I was never questioned about it. They were sad when I quit.

I live in Seattle, and Wal-Marts are kind of a new thing sprouting up. I always
figured there was no way a Wal-Mart here could be as bad as what you hear, fille
d with dumb, poor, disheveled weirdos. It must be mostly a regional, bible belt
thing. But I went to a couple, and by Jove, like some kind of magical magnet, th
ere they are. It's really quite astounding.

I don't understand why Target is better. Similar business model and everything,
usually in similar areas, but there's clearly trashier people at every Walmart.
permalinkparent
[ ]gorillab_99 34 points 1 hour ago
It feels more like a department store than a warehouse. Lower ceilings (I think
this is the biggest one), not as harsh lighting. Employees uniforms look a littl
e more regulated than any khaki pants and navy shirt with a nametag that doesn't
look like it was put together by a toddler.
Lotta little appearance standards that scare away people with no personal appear
ance standards.
permalinkparent
[ ]schattenteufel 64 points 1 hour ago
My neighborhood (urban area) Target is kinda' bad. Messy, disheveled, picked-ove
r, full of freak-show rejects. It looks like your average Walmart. There's a Wal
mart across the street. I went in there once. Once. It's the closest thing I've

seen to a post-apocalypse looted nightmare hell on Earth. And the customers? H.P
. Lovecraft couldn't conjure up such monstrosities.
permalinkparent
[ ]sutble 31 points 1 hour ago
I feel bad for you. My Target is a class act. The selection is fantastic, produc
e is actually fresh instead of being wilted and brown, and they always have the
new stuff whenever it comes out.
Then again I'm not above going to Walmart, so maybe my standards aren't very hig
h and my Target is actually really shitty.

[ ]SnowdensOfYesteryear 10 points 1 hour ago
I think they make an effort to make their store look and feel high end, even tho
ugh it obviously isn't. Their shopping carts are smooth rolling, and the baskets
feel good in your hand. It tends to be well organized and the employees look li
ke they took a shower recently.
I don't think Target is especially cheap though, I can always find shit cheaper
in other places.
permalinkparent
[ ]HorseCode 1 point 7 minutes ago
And everything looks in order because employees will actually put things back wh
en they're out of place or on the floor. At Walmart it's like walking through a
bedroom inhabitated by 4 year olds.
permalinkparent
[ ]rex_dart_eskimo_spy 5 points 40 minutes ago
It costs more...keeps the Walmart riffraff out
permalinkparent
[ ]goddesspyxy 2 points 49 minutes ago
Marketing. They aim for a different audience.
permalinkparent
[ ]ExplainLikeImDrunk 1 point 6 minutes ago
Marketing is a major aspect, as Walmart really pushes the "lowest price possible
" angle, although it obviously comes at the cost of quality. Target advertises s
ales just like any store, but I don't recall them ever pushing the idea of being
the cheapest store around.
But most if it just comes down to the effort put into appearance. I have been to
absolutely brand new Walmarts and they still look and feel like a low-rent mess
. And somehow they always feel cramped, but that's usually due to how many peopl
e are shopping there. Most targets on the other hand feel nicer. The carts aren'
t loud and unstable pieces of shit, there aren't half a dozen greeters waiting a
t the door, the place actually feels clean and pleasing to be in.
Shopping at walmart is a fucking chore, whereas shopping at target is a mildly e
njoyable experience. I'm so sick of dodging those wheelchair scooter things and
the dozens of children always running around, I try my best to never go into Wal
mart.
And quite frankly the off-brand stuff at target always seems to be higher qualit
y/better tasting than the comparable stuff at Walmart. And for the brand items,
the price difference is small enough that I'd much rather go to Target and pay a
little more for a much better experience.
Oh and did we mention the Walton family are a bunch of slave-driving pricks?

While I prefer to shop at Target over Walmart, the opposite is true here. Our Ta

multiple times I've had one small item or two I've wanted to buy but then I get
to the registers and see it's gonna be 10-15 minutes to check out, so I decide t

Just had a realization: Talking about being better than the people at Wal Mart i

Target has kickass clearance. Plus their 5% red card, 5% pharamacy rewards, and
cartwheel make shopping there cheaper than walmart.
permalink
[ ]uberfission 15 points 1 hour ago

God I fucking hate cartwheel. I swear my wife spends more time fucking around on
her phone looking for deals than actually shopping.

A family member works there and gave me a discount card of his. From my understa
nding, you have to pay cash for anything used on it?
Do they typically Id when using it?
permalinkparent
[ ]iliekdrugs 1 point 13 minutes ago
You can use cash or one of the Red Cards. Use one of the red cards and you get 1
0+5% off the total, pretty awesome. You aren't technically allowed to use the di
scount unless you are a dependent of the employee or the employee is your spouse
.
ID'ing really depends on the store. If they have been having issues with it they
may. Worst case is you could say he's your dad....

A lot better than walmarts discount because i actually want to own the things in
target.

I never carry a check book so i was never able to sign up for the redcard. One d

ls me what i saved year to date. Im over $400 for the year. I spend way too much
money there.

We don't have a Target here. I used to go to Target like 3 days a week back in M

the blanket I bought from Target, wearing only my TMNT underwear and bunny slipp
ers both bought from Target. Why? :'(

As a Canadian target seems like a amalgamation of bed bath Walmart and a cheap s
taples which is awesome as I can get cheap home stuff while shopping elsewhere a
s all the targets are in the old zellers in shopping malls
permalink
[ ]itsmeagin 2 points 8 minutes ago
Maybe you can. They closed our Zellers here, which was terrible but it was at le

ast something. They did not re-open under the Target so we have no choice but to
shop in a city elsewhere, and lots of people are without jobs. I hear Target is
not doing well in Canada and I am not upset about that. The remarks they made a
bout "teaching Canadians how to shop" really pissed me off. They felt they would
come here, make a ton of cash to subsidize their failing markets in the States.
I guess we taught them a lesson instead.

Depends on what you're buying. Walmart doesn't have lowest prices on every item
but some are cheaper there. just like other products might be cheaper than walma
rt at a different store.

Walmart up here in Canada isn't bad at all mostly filled with low middle class p

is complete ass up here and will likely be out of the country in the next few y
ears.

Even though Target's shelves are usually empty, I'd rather go there than to Walm
art.
Where is this glorious magical walmart?
The Walmart that's closest to my house is filled with shithead children running
around, immigrants who don't know English, Saskatchewaners, autist bronies, and
obese ham-planets
Target's shelves may be empty most of the time, but at least the people who shop
there aren't degenerates and the store is clean.

Its not much more and this article doesn't include waiting for sales on some thi
ngs you may not need every trip. My experience is that Walmart often has higher
prices and less sales on certain staples than Target, such as paper products, br
and soda, and milk. I purchased a toaster over from walmart that lasted less tha
n a year. One from Target is going on 3 years. I am just happier shopping at Tar
get and do not wait in lines as long. All politics notwithstanding, I will stick
to Target. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/07/20/everyday-low-prices
