Fasting is a biblical way to deeper humility.

It takes you out of the equation and puts all the

strength on God.

AHisLifeMinistriesGUIDE
In the pursuit of Glorifying God & Making Disciples

3. To Prepare the Spirit for New Power and Anointing

Jesus fasted and prayed 40 consecutive days to receive another level of power and anointing for
ministry. If Jesus needed to fast, so do we! Fasting opens you more fully to the Spirits working.

4. To Receive Power for Spiritual Breakthrough

To see breakthrough, we must never give up on something that is right and good. Understand
that whatever we feed will get stronger. If we feed the desire to see breakthrough, the passion
we have to do whatever it takes to get breakthrough will also increase. Fasting fires earnestness
and zeal.

5. To Receive the Supernatural Intervention of God

Fasting is not a way to earn Gods blessing and Gods answer to your prayer. It is not an
automatic way to a miracle. We do not manipulate or command the Spirit, but we become
increasingly available to Him as we fast and pray. He is able to say new things to us, to have new
access to us. Then we align ourselves to His plan and He is able to intervene in ways we did not
know we needed or thought were possible!

What is fasting, and should

Christians do it?
Fasting is the foregoing of a meal or consumption of food for a
predetermined period of time.
A follower of JESUS will sacrifice his natural desire for food in
order to spend time seeking God regarding a specific issue.
The intention is that all the time that would be spent acquiring,
preparing and consuming food will, instead, be spent in the
presence of God through prayer, worship or meditation on the
Word. Also, the heightened sense of awareness obtained through
hunger serves as a reminder of the purpose of the fast. The goal is

to replace the feeding of the needs of physical hunger with the

feeding of one's spiritual hunger by the means of intimacy
with God.

Please note, however, that a fast, whether partial or absolute, is
quite different than giving up something for "Lent." The motive in
a fast cannot be that God will find favor with you because you

realization that the world has crowded in around you and you

nothing, but by prayer and fasting" (Mark 9:28,29).

Day 1 stretch JANUARY 5 2015

You Should Fast Between Major Events Of Your Life.
Jesus did. When He was baptized by John he saw "the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and
lighting upon Him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am
well pleased" (Matthew 3:16,17). Then, Jesus fasted. His next major event was the selection of
His disciples. "And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter,
and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And He saith unto
them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and
followed Him. And going on from thence, He saw other two brethren, James the son of
Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and
He called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed
Him" (Matthew 4:18-22).

You Should Fast To Influence The Judgments Of God

Away From Your Children.
David did. "David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay
all night upon the earth. And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up
from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them"
(2 Samuel 12:16,17).

Your Fasting Follows The Examples Of Great Champions.

The Apostle Paul fasted. "But in'all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much
patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in
labours, in watchings, in fastings;" (2 Corinthians 6:4,5).

You Should Fast To Influence Three Areas Of Your Life.

Ezra, the priest, did. A) Direction. B) Family. C) Finances. "Then I proclaimed a fast there, at
the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of Him a right way for
us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance" (Ezra 8:21).

Your Geographical Location For Your Assignment Can

Be Revealed Following A Fast.
"As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul
for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid
their hands on them, they sent them away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost,
departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus" (Acts 13:2-4). So the same Holy
Spirit that revealed the city and country for their Assignment following a fast is not a respecter
of persons. He will honor this Seed of love and deprivation.

Day 2 stretch JANUARY 6 2015

Passion for FASTING and PRAYER
One of the most effective ways to increase your spiritual alertness is to combine prayer and
fasting. Fasting and prayer are some of the most powerful weapons the Lord has given to the
Christian. While practiced by few, nevertheless, prayer, joined with fasting has been a spiritual
discipline used by God to increase spiritual alertness, desire, and effectiveness.
Fasting can be defined as voluntary abstinence from food or some other habit for the purpose of
concentrated prayer. There is never a convenient time to fast. But when you do set aside time to
fast and pray, you will find that your heart is refined, purified, and filled with God thoughts.
There are several purposes of fasting. Let me name a few.

1. To Align Ourselves to God with Repentance

Fasting cleanses the spirit and aligns you to Gods Spirit, who puts the spotlight on things that
are out of alignment. From there we identify, repent, and move forward with a clean and strong
heart.

2. To Deepen Humility
The least bit of pride or self-related ambition can block prayer.
