The Global Citizenship Program is specifically designed to help you develop the skills necessary to be a global citizen and to have those
skills recognised in a formal way. To become a global citizen, you will need to participate in a number of internationally-related activities
that will assist you to develop key personal, academic and careers skills.

Burwood- C1.15
Waterfront - D2.136
Tel (61 3) 9244 6776
or (61 3) 9244 6963
global-citizenship@deakin.edu.au

Each activity is given a point value based on its associated skills and the extent to which each skill is developed. In addition to participating
in the designated internationally-related activities, you may be required to reflect on how the activity has contributed to your development
as a global citizen. The Global Citizenship Program is designed to be completed before you graduate.
Once you have acquired the set number points and skills, you will be awarded the Global Citizenship Program Certificate that will list the activities and the skills you have gained.
This will assist you in communicating to future employers the additional skills you can offer in this increasingly globalised world.
You will need to participate in a variety of activities such as international study, volunteering, internships, conferences, or units, or domestic activities with an international focus.
You will need to earn a total of at least 100 activity points, as well as develop at least 17 of the 20 skills of global citizenship. The skills required to become a global citizen and the
activities are listed on the GCP Activities and Outcome table below to assist you with this process.
If the activity is not listed but you believe the activity has contributed towards you becoming a global citizen, please complete the GCP Petition for Additional Points form on page 4.

Activities and possible outcomes table

Below are the pre-approved activities, outcomes, and point values you can expect to gain by participating in these activities. Please feel free to comment on any activity, or suggest

What was the most valuable experience you participated in and why?
The internship at Deakin Global Student Mobility. Although I am currently undertaking it I feel as though I am really benefiting from it already,
as I really feel that my skills are being improved. Not only do I feel more mature as a result, but my foreign language skills are being tested and

my problem solving skills are also, and I feel a real improvement in my skills of networking, planning, and time organization skills.

How do you feel you have benefitted from the Global Citizenship Program?
Aside from really improving my skills in a number of areas (including, but not limited to, the ones listed above) I feel that I have really become

a global citizen in that I really feel I have an increased understanding of people in a global environment.

What do you feel could have further contributed to the program and your development?

Do you have any other comments you would like to make?
