Bible Ministry
Bible engagement is the process of helping people of all ages take in and live out Gods
Wordand its the heart of everything we do at Scripture Union. 2014 brought an
unusual amount of growth in new programs, new products and the launch of a new
online store, all of which position SU to engage still more children, more youth and more
adults in the next decade. This translates to a 27% growth in the nation-wide reach of
Scripture Unions ministry; 789,563 adults and children engaged with Gods Word through
Scripture Union programs.
The Essential 100, originally published as the Essential Bible Guide, was the original
devotional book by SU President Whitney T. Kuniholm. The 2014 reprint includes new
cover artwork and an all-new layout. The E100 Reading Plan, on which The Essential 100
is based, has reached 2.5 million in 20 languages to date.
The Essential Jesus, originally released in 2009, was also updated with new. These 100
Bible passages trace the story of salvation, through 25 Old Testament Prophecies and
75 New Testament readings to be the Bibles greatest story. Finally, The Essential Series
was given its own brand this year with the E100 Medallion.

Bible Ministry
Engaging children with the Bible has been the inspiration for Scripture Union since
its inception the summer of 1867. That was when a young British office worker,
Josiah Spiers, took children from his Sunday School to a special meeting of hundreds
of children. The children were lively and enjoying themselves and seemed to understand the Bible teachings. Spiers was greatly impressed with this informal and effective approach to ministry to children. He soon began holding regular services of his
own for children with attendance in the hundreds as The Childrens Special Service
Mission (CSSM), which later became Scripture Union.
SuperKids Programs
Childrens Ministry
SuperKids provides an opportunity for children to be safe and not in the streets.
It also gives them tools how to handle situations in the streets.
Rebecca, SK Volunteer
PrimeTime Program
Childrens Ministry
SuperKids is a good foundation for children to learn about the Bible. It is great to see
children from the neighborhood that dont normally come to our church.
Bernice, SK Volunteer
Scripture Unions Regional Ministry carries out the vision and mission of Scripture
Union through organizing programs and training volunteers in three major ministry
areas: school year outreach to children through PrimeTime, the faith-based after
school program, SuperKids, the summer outreach to children outside the orbit of
the church, and through The Essential 100 Program.
Childrens Ministry
Northeast Region
Mid Atlantic Region
In the Mid-Atlantic Region, the number
of SuperKids programs nearly doubled
in 2014. The Mid-Atlantic Region also
expanded its PrimeTime programming
this year in partnership with Whiz-Kids
Tutoring when 1st-3rd graders are tutored
in math and reading for an hour. At the
conclusion of Tutor Time, the children
participate in Club Time, in which they
learn all about following Jesus.

Since its inception in 1867, Scripture Union has grown to more than 130
Movements worldwide. In 2017, SU will celebrate its 150th Anniversary. In
2014, the framework from which SU Movements have operated since 1959
were reassessed, reiterated, and repurposed to Maximize mission, strengthen
Movements, and reflect the Kingdom. This framework included new principles for
governance, staffing and fundraising in order to enable SU do more and greater
ministry on into the 21st Century.
We look forward to 2015 and all that God has for us.
