SAFETY DATA SHEET

1 - IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION AND OF THE COMPANY
IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION

INDIAGE N (code: 13010) or INDIUM (code: DPM 9020)

USE OF THE PREPARATION
This solution is used at ambient temperature on most materials to plate Indium with the brush electrolysis process. Indium,
that welds itself to itself just by pressure, is very often used to improve friction properties or as a seal.
As the brush process is applied locally without immersion of the part just where it is necessary, only small quantities of
solution are stored or used.

4 - FIRST AID MEASURES

CONTACT WITH SKIN
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash immediately with plenty of water.
CONTACT WITH EYES
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for approximately 15 minutes.
It is seriously recommended to consult an ophthalmologist.
INHALATION
Theoretically, not applicable. Under abnormal conditions of use causing considerable inhalation, remove the casualty from
the contaminated area, let him take a rest in a well-ventilated room and seek medical advice to hospitalize the person. A
supervision of the effects may be necessary. Begin an ocular and cutaneous decontamination while waiting for help.
INGESTION
Try to induce vomiting if the person is perfectly conscious. Call immediately the medical service and hospitalize quickly the
person.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRST-AIDERS
Wear gloves and glasses, and according to the situation, wear protective clothes and shoes, a mask
________________________________________________________________________________________________
5 - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Water spray, powders and special foams for polar liquids.
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA WHICH SHALL NOT BE USED
No.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS
Avoid contact with powerful oxidizing agents.
Dangerous thermal decomposition products: emission of ammonia and of oxides (notably of nitrogen, carbon and indium).
Prevent any material from entering drains or waterways or soil.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRE-FIGHTERS
Because of the substances that are produced during thermal decomposition, use approved self-contained breathing
equipment and protective clothing in case of intervention.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Avoid contact with the skin, the clothes and the eyes: wear gloves, glasses and if needed a mask.
Dispose of all contaminated clothing or shoes and wash thoroughly with water.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not allow the product to be thrown away. Recover as much as possible for processing within the firm or by an approved
centre.
METHODS FOR CLEANING UP
With water to remove all non-recoverable product. Collect the recoverable rinsing water for processing within the firm or by
an approved centre.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING
Use as supplied. Close containers (in PE) tightly after use with the original cap. Do not re-use containers with another
product.
STORAGE
Store on a spill-retaining vat, away from powerful oxidizing agents. Keep in original containers only, in a room at 5-30C
away from direct sun-light. The maximum recommended shelf life is three years from the date of manufacture under normal
conditions of storage.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
EXPOSURE CONTROLS
TECHNICAL MEASURES
No drinking, eating or smoking on the workplace.
Maintain the premises and the workplace in a perfect state of cleanliness and clean them frequently.
During brush electrolysis, even if this product is used at room temperature during a short time, it is important to protect the
respiratory system and to avoid contact with skin.
Check that the limit values below are not reached. They depend on the treatment time, the surface area treated and on the
quality of the workshop air extraction.
