available in the vestibule of the church and in the kiosk

The Jesse Tree
The Advent custom called the
Jesse Tree, uses stories to help
children develop a stronger sense
of who Jesus is and who were the
people on the path before him.
Named for King Davids father, the
Jesse Tree is a representation of
Christs family tree, suggested by
the prophets words, There shall
come forth a shoot from the root
of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1). These stories become a way for children to
experience Gods presence and a
sense of salvation history.
Beginning the second week of Advent, there will be a Jesse Tree in
the vestibule of the church so children of our parish can make ornaments to decorate the tree. We
adorn the Jesse Tree with illustrated ornaments that represent the
people, prophesies, and events
leading up to the birth of Jesus.
Please watch the bulletin for weekly information and suggestions to
participate in this activity.
If you have any questions please
feel free to call the CMO Office at

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Daily Prayer for Priests

O Jesus,
I pray for your faithful and; fervent priests;
For your unfaithful and tepid priests;
For your priests laboring at home or
Abroad in distant mission fields.
For your tempted priests;
For your lonely and desolate priests;
For your young priests; For your dying priests;
For the souls of your priests in Purgatory.
But above all, I recommend to you
The priests dearest to me;
The priest who baptized me;
The priests who absolved me from my sins;
The priests at whose Masses
I assisted and who gave me
Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
The priests who taught and instructed me;
All the priests to whom I am indebted
in any other way
(especially...)
O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,
And bless them abundantly
in time and in Eternity,

Amen

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Saint Vincent de Paul Update

The Thanksgiving food drive was a
great success thanks to the generous
outpouring of the parish. 400 of the
Thanksgiving food bags were filled and returned.
356 families were given
these bags to help them
enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. These 356 families

are in addition to the families served monthly by the

pantry.
There are 40 bags and an array of holiday food that
will be distributed for Christmas. Families were
lining up at 6:00 am on the morning of distribution
to accept our sharing.
A heartfelt thank you to the parish for supporting,
with prayer and food, our brothers and sisters in
their time of need.
Earlier this year the Pope said, "Today, your task is to
read the fifth chapter of Matthew where the beatitudes
are, and also to read the 25th chapter where the questions are that we will be asked on judgment day.
Retirement Fund for Religious - Next weekend there
will be a special collection. Proceeds from the annual
Retirement Fund for Religious collection help religious
communities implement long-range retirement strategies. The Retirement Fund for Religious provides support for thousands of elderly Catholic sisters, brothers,
and religious order priests. There are envelopes available in the pews for your generous donation.

GIVING TREE
Once again Common Ground
and the Academy (both the
preschool and school) will
place tags on the Giving
Trees in the back of church
on November 29th & 30th
and December 6th & 7th in hopes that our wonderful parishioners will give in their usual generous
way to these two causes. Common Ground is seeking gifts for less fortunate students at some of the
poorest elementary schools in our area, and the
Academy in hopes of helping our students with
learning resources.
Once you have taken the tag of
your choice, your gifts may be purchased and brought back on December 6th & 7 and December
13th & 14th (please tape your tag
to the gift) and placed back under
the tree.
Your kindness in this season of
giving is most appreciated.
Womens Guild
Our annual Bunko Christmas party will
take place instead of regular bunko on
December 17th in the DeMoor Room.
Everyone is to bring a dish to share for the lunch
and a $10.00 gift to exchange.
Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm
and bunko will begin at 12:45 pm.
We will play 6 games and then our
Christmas party celebration will
begin. If you have any questions,
please contact Lorraine Sablan at (619) 309-5609.
All women are welcome and please feel free to
bring a friend to join in the fun!
