Dear Sir or Madam,

I am hereby applying for a one semester scholarship at a Bachelors Degree in

Computer Science at the University of Paris (Universite Paris 6) as an Erasmus student
in January 2012.
Firstly, I will give you some background information on my studies. I am currently
studying a Bachelors Degree programme in Computer Science at the Faculty of
Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Bucharest. My courses focus mainly
on fundamentals of Mathematics (Algebra, Calculus, Geometry) and Computer
Science (Computational Logics, Algorithms and Data Structures, Procedural
Programming in C, Object Oriented Programming in C++, Computer Architecture and
Design, Formal Languages, Graph Theory etc). Through my first semester of
university, I began to develop projects in C/C++ and I learnt how to make an idea
become a concrete program. Furthermore, technology has been one of my interests
since an early age. My enthusiasm for a field that was in its full development in the
past decade motivated me to follow a Mathematics Informatics degree at high
school. Therefore, I was given the opportunity to improve my logical thinking by
dealing with subjects such as Maths and Physics and I got the ability to resolve
difficult problems.
Secondly, I will explain my interest in studying abroad. My purpose for applying to a
one-semester Erasmus mobility is both to expand on my solid education and to create
new opportunities for my future career. I am interested in learning and exploring new
fields in Computer Science and Information Technology and I am eager to experience
the students life abroad. The choice of a course in French is explained by my
fondness for the French culture and my good command of this language. During
highschool years, I participated in French contests and I organised together with a
team of students the events for the International Day of Francophonie. Furthermore,
my desire was to have the chance to study in a prestigious university in order to
acquire valuable knowledge in a multicultural environment. My researches on the
University of Paris revealed that the Computer Science programme fits well with the
current studies and with the goal to continue my path in information technology
degree.
Thirdly, I will give reasons to prove why I fit with this programme. During my studies I
have had a lot of opportunities to work for projects either alone or in team. I have
developed strong communication and cooperation skills that are essential in my future
career. People say about me that I am hard working, ambitious and realiable; I would
also admit that I am extremely self motivated and once I have set a goal, I strive to
achieve it. Besides that, in the summer of 2010 I attended to an international school
in London. For two weeks, I had the chance to live as a foreign student along with
people of all nationalities and this experience made me eagerly want to be an
Erasmus exchange student in my college time. Last but not least, I strongly believe
that a degree in an exact science, such as Computer Science, gives a very rigorous
mind which helped me develop a logical and critical thinking.
In conclusion, I am highly motivated to attend to this programme as it would represent
an excellent opportunity for my career path. I would be very grateful to be granted
admission for the spring term of the academic year 2011 2012.
Thank you for considering my application. I am looking forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
