make 1/4 with a shape, we
also worked on large groups
with fractions. During our
math time the students
learned how to separate 12
cubes into thirds, fourths, and
halves and explain how much
was in each group.
During reading we
continued reading our Martin
Luther King Jr. book. While
most of the week was spent
discovering cause and effect,
we did manage to sneak in
narrator questions and some
comprehension activities.

class did very well.
During writing the
students learned about writing
persuasive essays. While
working on these essays, I
had the class work on adding
ending sentences to each
paragraph. We look to finish
those up next week. They are
looking very nice and use so
many of the concepts that we
have learned in the last few
weeks.

but it is a lot of fun.

It’s a heartwarming story
about a young boy who
needs to learn how to read
to change his life. While
reading this story, we’ll
focus on inferring, visualiz-
ing, problem/solution, and
main idea with supporting
details. On Friday we will
take an assessment over our
skills.
We will continue
writing our persuasive pa-
pers this week and focus on
comma usage, plural nouns,
and possessive words. It is
extremely important for
students to use correct
grammar while writing.
A change that we
will have for a few weeks,
will be the increased
amount of math and com-
munication arts that we will
will have. We’ll focus a lot
on reviewing what we’ve
learned this year and apply
it to readings and problems
that we’ve not yet seen. It’s
a great way for me to see
what needs to be re-taught
and gives the students a
chance to get the informa-
tion back to the front of
their brain.
