When equipment works in normal environment, temperature and humidity

measurement points refer to values measured at points 2m above the floor and
0.4m in front of equipment (they must be measured when there is no protection
plate in front and back of cabinet).

Short-term working conditions refer to less than 48 continuous hours and less
than 15 accumulated days per year.

To reach adequate temperature and humidity, air conditioning devices are necessary.
Large-scale lab must be equipped with air conditioners with humidity adjustment
function while small labs need only to be equipped with cabinet or window air
conditioners.
ZXR10 router also dissipates heat itself, in usual cases centralized air conditioner is
not used. For labs already equipped with centralized air conditioners, in fact it is also
necessary to mount separate air conditioners.
It is suggested to perform the following measures:

Use two circuits of AC mains or self-provided electric generator to supply stable

power for air conditioner.

Centralized air conditioner or at least two sets of small-model air conditioners

need to be configured for the lab to provide appropriate temperate for long-term
operation of devices.

Lighting and Illumination Requirements

Measures against direct sunshine must be taken to avoid aging and deformation of
elements like circuit board caused by long-term .exposure to sunshine.
The average luminance must be 150lx~200lx. Fluorescent lamps embedded into the
ceiling are adopted.
An emergency illumination lamp (DC lamp) can be mounted for buildings with frequent
power failure.
Battery room must be equipped with explosion-proof lamps and the light shall not be
too intense. In addition, direct sunshine must be avoided, for which paper or paint can
be pasted on external windows.

Installing the Worktable

1. Prerequisites:
l Make sure that the work platform is firm enough to support the enclosure and
cables. It is better to allow less people to walk around to avoid touching cables
connected to the router.
l There is no barrier on or near the work platform.
l Make sure that the enclosure to be installed is ready and has been carried to work
platform nearby for handling.
l Check if there are gaskets at the bottom of the equipment; if not, take out the
gaskets in the accessory bag and install them with screws.
2. After that, lift the enclosure to a position a little higher than the level of work platform
and put the enclosure onto the work platform. Leave 10cm space at least on both right
and left enclosure sides to provide good heat dissipation and ventilation; leave 20cm
distance at least behind the enclosure for laying of power cable and other cables.

Chapter 7 External Cable Installation

Different types of optical interfaces use different models of optical connectors. The end of
the fiber needs to match corresponding connector.
ZXR10 ZSR provides the following three models of optical interfaces:
l
l
l

SC interface: a fiber with two square interfaces for transmission and reception and
using SC connectors.
LC interface: a fiber with two square interfaces for transmission and reception and
using LC connector, whose size is smaller than that of SC interface.
MT-RJ interface: a fiber with one square interface for transmission and reception and
using MT-RJ connector. There is MT-RJ interface on 8-port POS3 interface card.

ZXR10 ZSR provides swappable GBIC module. It is mainly used on 2-port gigabit
Ethernet interface card, using SC interface. When installing GBIC module, push it into
position horizontally according to idle slot ID on the module and interface card. Force
plugging/unplugging is forbidden.
Two types of fibers are available: single-mode fiber and multi-mode fiber. User can
configure the fiber according to the actual application. Generally, multi-mode fiber is
used in short-distance transmission while single-mode fiber is used in long-distance
transmission.
As for fiber out of the cabinet, make sure to protect the fiber against any damages with
plastic corrugated sleeve. The fiber within the protect sleeve must not be wound up and
the corners must be radian. The labels at two ends of the fiber must be clear. The meaning
of the label must correctly reflect corresponding serial numbers and relationship between
cabinets and between rows.

7.8 Label Style

l

Transverse English labels on panels and plugs

Transverse English label is used on panels and plugs whose areas are larger than
label area. Label dimension is shown in Figure 7-16.
Figure 7-16 Transverse English Labels on Panels and Plugs

The meaning of label is as follows:

RJ45 is cable's English code. The corresponding name is parallel network cable.

Port A is the terminal A of cable plug, which is corresponding to terminal B or

another terminal.

5m is the finished cable length, which is the straight length from plug of cable at
one end to the plug of cable at the other end.

FE 10/100Base-T 1 indicates connection position, which is the first network

interface of the fast Ethernet interface card 10/100Base-T.

Roll-up Self-mulching Laser Print Type II Labels

Name of the label pasted on the cable is roll-up self-mulching laser print type II label.
The label dimension is shown in Figure 7-17.

Figure 7-17 Roll-up Self-mulching Laser Print Type II Labels

The meaning of label is shown in Figure 7-16.

Compared with transverse English labels on panels and plugs, the roll-up
self-mulching laser print type II label can only be used on plugs or panels whose
areas are larger than the label area. The roll-up self-mulching laser print type II label
is used when the cable plug size is smaller or using of the transverse English label
affects the cables appearance. It is pasted on the cable through the self-contained
cellulose tape.

Labels Pasted on Cables

Power Cable Label

A flag-type label worked out by ZTE can be used as an engineering marker for
power cables, as shown in Figure 7-18.
Figure 7-18 Power Cable Label

The paste position is 2cm from the lug. Firstly paste the label on the cable for
less than a half circle and then stick the backs of the two half parts of the flag-type
label. One such label must be pasted on each end of a power cable, as shown
in Figure 7-19.

The flag-type power cable is divided into two areas: L and R. Their specific
meanings are as follows:
t

L: In this area, fill location code of local device. That is, it indicates the
location of local device connected with power cable.

R: In this area, fill location code of remote device. That is, it indicates
the location of remote device connected with power cable. If the other
end is power distribution cabinet, the characters distribution cabinet and
the characteristics of the power cable must be indicated. For example:
Distribution GND.

Note:
The contents on two labels at two ends of a power cable must be opposite to each
other. For example, the contents filled in L area of the label at one end must be
consistent with those filled in R area of the label at the other end.

Optical Fiber Label

Meaning and composition of the fiber engineering label are shown in Figure 7-20.

Chapter 7 External Cable Installation

Both sides of the fiber engineering label are marked with L and R. The specific
meanings are as follows:

When label is pasted on fiber at ZXR10 ZSR side, the row number, column
number and layer of fiber in the cabinet at the side of the connected remote
optical interface device as well as the fiber No. must be filled in R area of
the label. In this case, the row number and column number of ZXR10 ZSR
where the fiber is located must be filled in L area of the label.

When the label is pasted on optical interface device of the office, the contents
in the label must be opposite to those in label at ZXR10 ZSR side.

Coaxial Cable Label

Meaning and composition of the coaxial cable label are shown in Figure 7-21.
Figure 7-21 Meaning and Composition of Coaxial Cable Engineering Label

Both sides of the coaxial cable label are marked with L and R. The specific
meanings are as follows:

When label is stuck to coaxial cable on ZXR10 ZSR side. The R side of
the label must be filled with the actual content of the DDF: row and column
numbers of the DDF, the layer of the cable in the DDF and cable number.
In this case, the row number and column number of ZXR10 ZSR where the
cable is located, the layer of the cable and the cable number must be filled
in L area of the label.

When the label is pasted on DDF of the office, the contents in the label must
be opposite to those in label at ZXR10 ZSR side.

Network Cable Label

The label to be rolled onto the cable is called: transverse English type-I label with
its dimension shown in Figure 7-22. The content marking methods are the same
as those shown in Figure 7-16.
