1. GENERAL
The project envisages installation of mechanical instruments as per guideline, installation of blank new
front panel, cut holes for secondary instruments, and existing items that are to remain, remove old front
panels, remount existing alarm & control elements, mount new secondary instruments, re-wire existing
equipment & wire new ones, replace primary & secondary field instruments, re-wire & perform loop
checks. The work methodology and equipment planning for various works is based on the site conditions
prevailing in the project area. Work activities are planned in such a way that project will be completed in
the shortest possible time period. The following assumptions have been made for the method
statement.
All the pre-execution activities like hook up diagram, new wiring & termination diagram has been
completed, all new instruments to be installed is available at job site.
2. OBJECTIVE
This document provides guidance in implementing an effective program for all project execution. This
includes addressing programs for the following:
(1) Implementing commitments regarding the quality of the weld joints, Cable termination etc.
(2) Ensuring personal safety and PPE for everyone.
(3) Managing and providing oversight to ensure installation and related quality control have been
adequately addressed by specifications, drawings, and procedures;
(4) Managing and providing supervision and control to assure qualification of welders; and
(5) Recording installation and test activities.
This procedure is one component of a complete installation and inspection program. This and other
procedures will be used, as needed, to provide assurance that all activities are being conducted as
required by the specification and manufacturer procedures. It is not expected that completion of the
entire procedure will be accomplished during any one inspection and/or every time the inspection
procedure is used. It is a continuing activity until all piping networks and instruments are installed and
tested.
5. Qualification of Personnel
The Supervisor will verify that the personnel have sufficient knowledge of the procedure requirements.
The Supervisor will review any training and qualification records for those individuals who shall do the
task to determine whether they are skilled enough to follow the procedure before the actual work is
carried out.
6. Preparation of Materials and Execution of Works

h) Securing cables connected to existing instruments and mark them properly
7. Description of Activities
a) Check all pipes and fittings to be used for joint are free from defects, dents or deformities and
are straight. Remove pipes and fittings with defects and replace with acceptable materials.
b) Remove foreign matter or dirt from inside of the pipe and fittings before fit up.
c) For longer work breaks, place suitable stoppers to prevent debris, earth or water from entering
pipe open ends.
d) Welding electrodes shall be stored and handled as per Manufacturers instructions.
e) Cut the pipes to the required length using an appropriate pipe cutter, or profile cutter (OxyAcetylene), allowing for provision of pipe fitting later. Works shall be carried out in accordance
with the approved shop drawings.
f)
The pipes shall be checked by the assigned foreman for its square-ness and straightness, after
being cut to the correct angle and site requirements.
g) Remove old instruments and secure connected cables and mark them properly
h) Connect new instruments and pipe fittings according to provided drawing
i) Rewire new instruments
j) Disconnect devices mounted on panels and secure cables after proper marking.
k) Cutout front panel according to supplied drawing and install new ones.
l) Mount new devices and Rewire using existing cables
