ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

First and foremost, we are happy to take this opportunity to thank to people
who helped us in the making of our mini project. We acknowledge the influence and
inspiration of our lecturer, Mr. Ahmad Zaidi bin Abdullah whose contribution in
simulating suggestions and encouragement. A special thanks goes to all our
teammates, Ang Eng Huat, Chou Kuok Soon , Foong Zhi An, Ng Wei Liang, and Ng
Chun Khai who was together to assemble the parts and gave suggestion about the
design of the Microwave Oven Model. Without their help, this project would not be
completed. At the outset, we thank God almighty for making our endeavour a
success. We also want to express our gratitude to our beloved University Malaysia
Perlis which has provide us with good environment and facilities for us, in order to
complete this project. As for the lecturers of Digital Electronics, we want to thank
you to all of you for your invaluable teaching, help and supports. Without all of this,
the completion of this project would not be possible. We felt thankful to all of you
for helping us in variable ways. This project has given us the opportunity to
experience and learn more about the design the Microwave Oven Model using
sequencing and control. We know more about how Moore State Machine works.

ABSTRACT

The Microwave Oven Model is mainly apply on domestic and industrial

application. It is used to control and sequencing the state of the Microwave Oven.
With the Microwave Oven Model, we can control the state, know the current state of
the microwave oven with the difference combination of output LED light, seven
segment display and audible signal alarm as designed. User can make the right
decision depends on the right current state and change to the next state that they
desired correctly. This will make the user more convenient and reduce the wastage of
the natural resources. The main aim in this mini project is to design the Microwave
Oven Model that can perform a simple function of a microwave oven with
sequencing and control. In the design, the type of the machine is Moore State
Machine. The oven has two type of power which is the half power (300W) and full
power (600W), the user can switch or choose the power according to their demands.
The LED and seven segment will light up to indicate which state the microwave
oven in, on some state, there will also have audible signal alarm to indicate the state.
The Microwave Oven Model is first design using Moore state diagram, then is
implement by using ASM chart, fill in truth table, simplify the output of truth table
using logic converter in software Multisim. After all of this process is done, the logic
circuit is drawn in software Quartus II. After complete the circuit, it is simulate and
compile, the waveform is shown. By comparing the waveform with truth table, we
can know our design have error or not and we can trouble shooting the error. The pin
assignment is done by refer to the altera user module. After that, if no error occurred,
we programmed our design to the Altera Board to present the design of the
Microwave Oven Model.
