SCOPE - Standing Committee on Professional Exchange

Exchange Conditions of : Taiwan - IFMSA-Taiwan


Level of studies: Students in the clinical phase of their study.
Type of Clerkship: Only clinical clerkships.
Languages: - English, Mandarin, or Taiwanese
- Mandarin is required in some of the departments
Duration of Clerkship: 3-4 weeks. Those shorter than 3 weeks will NOT be accepted. Full calendar month.
Working Conditions: - 5 days/week, 4-8 hours/day
- Certificate will not be issued if the student misses more than 1/4 of the clerkship
Disciplines: - Placement in the desired city and department is not always possible, so be sure to fill in more
than one choice.
- If you fill in only one choice, this means that you agree to any city/department if the city/department of
choice is not possible.
Periods & Towns: February is not available for all LCs

Application documents & deadline: On the database
- We need students filling the motivation letters seriously, or else the AF will be sent back
- Afs must be sent at least three months before the exchange
Hard copies
- (we only accept the following documents in March Meeting)
- 1 AF

- 2 Photo
- Copy of passport
- Proof of Enrollment
- All documents must be hand in to the Taiwanese NEO in the IFMSA General Assembly March Meeting, or
sent to the NEO at least three months before the exchange
Upon Arrival
- Health insurance or Travel insurance that cover the whole exchange period
- IFMSA Student Handbook
Digital documents required: - Depend on LCs, LEOs will be contacting students for other documents they
need.
- Ex: Language Certificate, Negative proof of TB and HBV, Recommendation Letters, School Report Cards
Card of Acceptance deadline (weeks in advance): 8
Card of Confirmation deadline (weeks in advance): 4
Insurance: - Students must have health insurance covering the entire period of the clerkship and must be
arranged by the students themselves.
- Students coming without valid insurance will suffer from REJECTION of taking clerkship in Taiwan.
Furthermore, IFMSA-Taiwan-SCOPE will not take any responsibilty for all the damages the students have or
caused.
Pocket Money: Given by local committees.
Board & Lodging: - Lodging is free on bilateral contracts.
- We give pocket money instead of providing meals
- Unilateral fee: 300 /month
Social Program: - It depends on the city and local committee; usually, it is offered a welcome party, evening
parties, tourist tours around the city and surroundings, giving information about important-interesting places
to go or visit
- But for sure there will be 4-5 united social programs in the summer (2 or 3 each month)
Substitutions: - Must be informed by the outgoing-NEO
- Same gender, period, and department
Cancellations: - Cancellation must be informed by the outgoing-NEO
- We prefer substitutions to cancellations
- If the student is more than three days late, the exchange would be canceled
Visas: Group A
For 90 days duration visa exempt entry
Ireland, Japan, New Zealand ,U.K.
Group B
for 30 days duration visa exempt entry
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco,
Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A.,
Vatican City State
Special remarks: Group C
You need visa, and there are Taiwanese Embassy in your country
India, Israel, Philippines, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey, Jordan, Oman, Dubai,
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Nigeria, South Africa
Group D
You need visa, but there is no Taiwanese Embassy in your country
Countries that are not in above.
