FIGHTING FOR ENGLAND

English Votes For English Laws
A British Bill of Rights

Fair Immigration, Fair to Taxpayers

Delivering an In/Out EU Referendum

Make St Georges Day a Public Holiday

arlow MP Robert Halfon has said he is

completely behind the Conservative
Party proposal for only English MPs to vote
on English Laws.
As it currently stands, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland
each have their own Parliaments or Assemblies,
which make key decisions for their countries.
However, there is no alternative in England.
This leaves MPs from Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland
able to vote on matters that only relate to England.
Robert said, Only a Conservative majority at the
next election will provide a balanced settlement for
every part of the UK and ensure a fair deal for
people in England.

ince 2010, the Government has been

working hard to control immigration into
the UK and crack down on those here
illegally.
Immigration routes have been tightened and arrivals
from outside the EU are down to their lowest levels in
a decade. Public services are also being protected
with new rules for social housing and benefits.

New proposals to curb EU migration, announced by

David Cameron, include preventing migrants from
claiming key benefits for their first four years and
removing those who do not have a job within six

months from the UK. Already in Harlow, you can only

join the social housing list if youve been a resident
for five years or more.
This follows successful efforts since 2010 to reform
the family visa route, crack down on bogus colleges
and ensure that no-one can come to this country and
expect to get benefits immediately.
Harlow MP Robert Halfon has said, We are
clamping down on abuses of the system and
ensuring that we have an immigration system that is
fair to taxpayers.

ne of the reasons cited by Essex Police as

preventing the deportation of dangerous criminals.

In 2012, I was one of the 74 MPs who voted in

favour of repealing Labours Human Rights Act and
writing our own Bill of Rights, Robert remarked.
This would ensure that British courts are always
superior to those in Europe.

P for Harlow, Robert Halfon, has said

he is campaigning hard for an In/Out
referendum on the EU and wants to give
Harlow residents a voice on the matter.

Robert said Im glad the Conservatives have

already stood up to the EU by cutting its budget,
vetoing a new treaty that wasnt in our nations
interest and pledging to hold a referendum.

Robert says he is disappointed that both Labour

and the Liberal Democrats are blocking Conservative
measures to hold a public vote and that his party is
the only one that can deliver a referendum by
winning a full majority at the next election.

Fighting for England means that we should have a

say on our membership of the European Union and
if we win the next election, the people of Harlow will
have an In/Out referendum on the EU.

ational polls have shown that a

whopping two-thirds of people in
England support St Georges Day becoming a
bank holiday.
With the Saints Days of Andrew and Patrick already
public holidays in Scotland and Northern Ireland
respectively, local MP Robert Halfon has maintained

his position that this should be extended to England.

Bank holidays are great occasions that can bring
the whole country together, and I know many
Harlow residents want to see our day of cultural
celebration given the proper recognition it
deserves, said Robert.
