This is an essay written in Sinhala language on the social background of the political situation in Sri Lanka now. The Sinhalese Buddhists there have suffered much with the arrival of the Portuguese in Sri Lanka in 1505 as the first European colonialists to occupy parts of it. Such colonial activities continued later with the capturing of it partially by The Dutch and fully by the The British causing much hardships on the Sinhalese Buddhists. The fighting Sinhalese lost in their struggles in large scale wars in the years of 1818, 1848 and 1915. Tamils in millions were settled down in areas the Sinhalese were killed by The British colonialists and captured their lands. The Muslims who began to thrive in business in those colonial days now claim separate geographical ares as theirs. Today, the Sinhalese people suffer there due to the neo colonialist pressures on them, which neo colonialists are the same descendants of the former colonialists.
