On successful completion of this module, you should be able to:
1. Show how data are represented and stored in computer (MQF1, MQF2, MQF6)
2. Read, comprehend, and construct mathematical arguments with mathematical reasoning. (MQF1,
MQF2, MQF6)
3. Solve problems that include sets, permutations, relations, graphs and trees which are used to
represent discrete objects & relationships between these objects. (MQF1, MQF2, MQF6)
4. Apply counting principles to calculate the probability problems. (MQF1, MQF2, MQF6)
5. Calculate summary measures of statistics and make inferences about characteristics of populations
from information contained in samples. (MQF1, MQF2, MQF6)

Teaching-learning and assessment strategy:


The delivery method will be 2 hours lecture & 1 hour tutorial.
Synopsis:
This module will introduce the students to the basic computing mathematical concepts that one needed
for their further study in degree level 2. The topics that include in this module are number base system,
set theory, relations & functions, logic and Boolean algebra, graph theory, discrete probability,
statistics and sampling distribution and hypothesis testing.
