This manual introduces the installation, using method of FiberHome Wview Network
Management System with version 3.7 of Fiberhome Network Company. It provides
simple introduction of product, including the system characteristics and the network
management protocol used by this system. It provides system requirements and
installation instructions of the product, including the software and hardware platform
needed, the installation process and software using descriptions. It provides user
interface description and the specific help operation, including basic operation,
function configuration and fault management and etc.

Hard disk requires above 10G and we recommended to be 20G. It is mainly for
storing a large number of network management data.
CPU requires Intel PIII 500E and above, recommended to be Intel PIII 800EB.
Need to be connected with network equipment through Ethernet, and the network
management equipment can offer access to the network management server
actively.
Display resolution: recommend that the display screen area is set to above 1024
768 pixels, so that one can get better display effect. If running the program in
800600 pixels, it maybe shows an incomplete phenomenon.

required. Default operation is to start user managemen.
The following steps describe the specific operations of security management.

This topic introduces the user how to configure user management.

User management is divided into seven parts:
View the user information

of all users, the user can use the menu to the user management

The user name, password confirmation, user group can't be empty. User
name can not be repeat with other user name, the effective length of
password is 4-16 bits.

the user password security detection, IP address binding. Enable
password password security detection. The effective length of
password is 6-16 bits and the password must contain a combination
of uppercase

Objective
This topic introduces the user how to manage Topology.
Procedure
As shown in Figure3-3-1," topology" menu includes as follows: the network view,
topology breviary , searching topological node, searching network equipment, export
topological site information and import topological information site.

The user can be able to view and manage all the devices when click the " list of
devices" button, and the user can add, modify , delete the devices, ping ,telnet , use
mib, use web ,refersh node, configure alarms, delete nodes, configure the node
attribute, lock the node, alarm filtering and etc.
3.3.1.2 Information Column
Objective
This topic introduces the user how to configure information column.
Procedure
The upper right corner information column of Network management display the alarm
information: includes alarm level and various alarm colors, five level alarm indicates in
red, four level alarm indicates in orange, three level alarm indicates in yellow, two
level alarm indicates in blue, one level alarm indicates in purple, the statistics number
of alarm is as shown in Figure3-3-4 at the same time:

When the alarm occurs, the system will flicker and show alarm number.

The user can be able to view Viewgraph, view or modify each node or link attributes of
the view, or delete part of viewgraphnode and connection according to their own
permission. The user can use the viewgraphon the left side of the toolbar or right-click
pop-up menu to complete these topological operations. Refer to 3.3.7, 3.3.8, 3.3.9and
3.3.10 section for obove operations details.

For example, when the user input device node IP address, the user will find the
topological node results in the following dialog, as shown in Figure3-3-9:

system will add the node corresponding to the configuration IP address segment of

not add when the IP address of the device and the existing equipment conflict.

the dialog, the user enter the file name, select < save > button. It allows a topology

3.3.7 Equipment
Objective
This topic introduces the user how to configure equipment menu item via right click.
Procedure
When righting click on viewgraphor topology tree node of equipment, the system will
pop up as shown in the Figure3-3-17, different types of equipment will shown different
menu. However, add device nodes manually have the same menu item:
1 Clickpingthe system will ping the device using the command line window.;
2 Clicktelnetthe user can telnet the remote device;
3 ClickMIB toolsthe user can read MIB remotely;
4 Click Web Configurationthe use can connect the device via the browser;

5 Click Refresh Nodethe user can test whether the device is connected,
6 Click Restart Device Modelthe user can correct and get the device model
automatically;
7 Click Viewgraph Alarmsthe system can switch to alarm log window to view the
device alarm information;
8 Click Clear ALarmthe system will clear all the alarm information of the current
device, the device could be able to restore to formal condition;

This topic introduces the user how to configure viewgraph menu item.
Procedure
When the user right click topology tree viewgraph nodes, the system will pop up the
menu shown as in Figure3-3-18 appears. If the user double-click the viewgraph point,
the default implementation of the popup menu in the first operation.
Click Open the Viewthe system will add a tab upon the topology figure
and display all topology of this view, it is as shown in Figure3-3-19.

3.3.10 Toolbar
Toolswill be in the viewgraph left when opened .it includes the ' refresh ', ' Browse '
topology topology, increases the link ', ' ', ' viewgraph ' increase increase equipment ', '

' down ' alignment alignment, horizontal distribution ' ' ', ' ', ' vertical distribution

3.3.10.1 Refresh Topology
Objective
This topic introduces the user how to refresh topology.
Procedure
Click the" refresh topological" button [

3.3.10.2 Viewgraph Topology

This topic introduces the user how to configure viewgraph topology.

Click <OK>, the viewgraph from the increasing connection mode is switched to the
browse mode, the default is the browse mode.
3.3.10.3 Add a Connection
Objective
This topic introduces the user how to add a connection.
Procedure
1 Press the [
connection mode. Under this mode, use the mouse to click on the two nodes, i.e.
the system will be shown in the Figure3-3-24. The user input the connection
attribute, the system will generate a line between 2 nodes.

This topic introduces the user how to move a node.
Procedure
To implement node moving, click to select one and drag it to destination.
To modify curved of line, click to select one and drag the midpoint of line to
destination.
To implement the moving of multiple nodes and lines, click multiple nodes and lines
and drag one of nodes to destination.

3.4.4 Troubleshooting
Objective
This topic introduces the user how to configure troubleshooting.
Procedure
Troubleshooting of the network management system receives the trap information,
and save the trap information to trap log. User can be able to add the trap reason,trap
solution and result by right click item of the trap log or trap prompt column. The user
can be albe to view the formar trap reason, trap sultion and trap reason when meeting
the similar trap on the same location, refer to Figure3-4-32 and 3-4-33.

Click the "add troubleshooting experience" menu, as shown in the Figure3-4-34, the
user can select the trap reason. If it is not in trap option, the user can also click <
other > then input the trap reason, trap processing and trap results. To add a trap, the
user can click <add> button, if there are multiple traps, the user can select delete the
trap information of traps with troubleshooting. The system can list the trap
experience information since there has one trap information at least.

The user can be able to implement " increase troubleshooting experience"," modify

experience attribute"," all derived from"," front," derived and " export options" from the
" troubleshooting experience" management interface, the system is as shown in

To isolate the main interface of information column from separate interface, click to select and drag
information column.

The user can use the window as shown in Figure3-5-4 to confirm trap or trap is
cleared. Delete the traps when confirming the trap is cleared. The user can be albe to
locate the alarm device.

3.6 Log
Objective
The section introduces contents and functionalities of Log menu.
Procedure
Referring to Figure3-6-1, the drop down menu of Log includes 5 facilities: Security
Log, Operation Log,Event Log, Performance Log and Log Backup. The trap log
can be queried from trap management.

3.7 Performance
Objective
The section introduces contents and functionalities of performance management.
Procedure
Referring to Figure3-7-1, the drop down menu for Performance includes the item

The dialog lists both selected and optional device resources. Select one of the items
from optional device resource list and click [

can be deleted that by clicking [

are successful, selected device will be displayed from universal device list, referring to

To delete created device resource, select one of them, right click and select Delete
Device Resource from popped up right click menu. If the instance to this device
resource has been created, then the instance cannot be deleted.
3.7.1.2 Universal Device Template Management

The section introduces configuration of Universal Device Template.

Select Universal Device Template from Device Performance page referring to
Figure3-7-3. The Universal Device Template displays created universal device
template, shown as Figure3-7-6:

Template from popped up right click menu and the Create New Performance

Window. The monitor menu allows the user to lock on specific performance
monitoring that once locked, an administrator password is required for further
operation. The window menu is applied for designating distribution to real-time
performance statistic window where multiple performance indexes can be real-time

In order to provide convenience, it is able to pick designated window to top from
overlapped windows by opening Window menu under Overlap Window distribution.
