Advisor: Prof. Kaushik Roy, Deptt. of Electrical and Computer Engg.
(May-July 2007)
x Established device optimization for subthreshold operating region (for use in power saving devices, watches,
palmtops etc.) and investigated the use of tunneling transistors in dynamic RAMs
x Improved inverter and adder delays by 36% over conventional halo devices for ultralow power operations
x Scaled power losses by 6 orders of magnitude due to reduced refresh rate in tunneling DRAMs

ACADEMIC PROJECTS
1.2 GHz, 8-bit, double pipelined Arithmetic Logic Unit architecture

(Jan-Apr08)
Implemented 8-bit double pipelined ALU using over 70,000 transistors in Cadence
Architectural techniques like pipelining were employed in the adder and the multiplier for elimination of idle states
at the output and throughput enhancement to 16 times
x Proposed a novel technique to exponentially reduce the latency introduced by pipelining a huge network
Power Optimization of Buffered Interconnects and Dual Edge Triggered Storage Elements (May-Jun06)
x Performed classification, timing characterization and evaluation of high speed dual edge triggered storage elements
x Demonstrated 50% reduction in power consumed by clock distribution network by halving the clock frequency
x Presented an optimum layout resulting in 25% performance increase
x
x

Addressed the problem of power dissipation in buffer insertion phase of interconnect optimization and formulated the
expression for optimum number of stages and placement

Low Offset CMOS Dynamic Differential Comparator for ADCs

x
x

(Aug-Dec07)
Designed a robust, fully differential comparator for high resolution, high speed analog to digital applications
Executed simulation based sensitivity analysis to illustrate 47% reduction in voltage offset for 5% capacitance
variation and 69% reduction for variation in input common mode signal

Working Model of Desert Cooler Pump

x

x
x

(Jan-Apr06)
Manufactured a working, real life, energy efficient model of a desert cooler pump using various mechanical and
metallurgical processes like milling, drilling, sheet metal, turning etc
Applied practical concepts of fluid dynamics to engineer vent hole orientation, bottom sheet perforation etc to raise
