SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROOF AND WALL

COMPOSITE SANDWICH PANEL SYSTEM

PART 1
1.1

GENERAL:

MATERIALS:
The factory bonded insulated foamed metal panel shall be a nominal 1 meter wide, 55 mm
thick from the high cell and 30mm thick from the low cell and in any length up to 15
meters long to minimize the end lap joints. Roof and wall panels shall present a fluted
surface externally and flat internally. The exterior and interior skins shall be formed of
galvanized steel conforming to ASTM-A446, structural quality with hot dipped commercial
quality galvanized coating, designation G-90 (275 gm/m2).
Exterior skin shall be in gage 0.5mm; Exterior face side finished with finished with Polyester
coating. Interior skin shall be in gage 0.5mm; Interior face-side finished with Polyester
coating.

Note: color to be selected from manufacturers standard and available color range.
Insulation: Shall be Polyurethane foam 55 mm thick. The factory assembled foam panel shall
have a U value of 0.49 W/M 2/OC (Equivalent to 0.086 BTU/HR/Ft2/o F) at 55 mm thick when
tested by a recognized independent testing laboratory in accordance with ASTM C236 (Ashrae
winter Design with 15 MPH outside, still air inside). This foam insulation shall have the following
physical properties.
a.

The foam insulation shall be poured in place rigid expanded Polyurethane foam with a
minimum 95% closed cell structure.

b.

Density shall be 32 to 37 kg/M3 (minimum); determined in accordance with the procedures

specified in ASTM D1622-63.

c.

Tensile strength shall be 3.0 kg/cm2 (minimum); determined in accordance with the
procedure specified in ASTM C 297-76.

d.

Compressive strength shall be 1.62 kg/cm2 (minimum); determined in accordance with the
procedures specified in ASTM C 365-57.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
FIRE PERFORMANCE TESTING:
The factory bonded insulated foam metal panels shall be classified as nonflammable, self-extinguishing and shall carry the following listing when tested by a
recognized Independent Testing Laboratory in accordance with the ASTM E-84-86:
1.

Flame Spread:

Index value of 20 in accordance with ASTM E-84-86.

German DIN Standard B1 classification.

2.

Smoke Developed:

Index value of 330 in accordance with ASTM E-84-86.

German DIN Standard 53436/37 Light Transmission (%) 60
rating.

B.

STRUCTURAL TESTS:

C.

SIDE JOINTS:

The panel structural designs shall have been verified by

Witnesses Structural Tests for wind loads by the Chamber
Methods as outlined in ASTM specification E72. Standard
test design load shall be 1000 Newton per square meter
positive or negative simulated wind load and a deflection
limit of L/180 under positive loading.

The panel side joints shall be of the male-female interlocking type

having factory applied one continuous line of sealant at the female
leg of the panel side joint. The sealant shall be non-drying, nonskinning type and additional two lines of field applied sealant below
the batten cover in the case of Roof Panel. The side joints shall be of
a concealed type covered by a roll-formed batten strip. This batten
strip is fastened on both sides with stainless steel pop rivets at 400
mm on center staggered.
The male and female side joints of the
panels shall be protected by the use of
special craft paper foil in order to cover
and seal all exposed edges of the foam
core.

D.

AIR INFILTRATION:

The side and end lap joints of the panels shall provide
virtually no heat loss and no measurable air infiltration when
tested by a recognized independent testing laboratory in
accordance with ASTM E-283 Test Procedure with a static
pressure difference of 5.0 PSF to 20 PSF.

E.

WATER PENETRATION: The side and end lap joints of the panels shall provide

virtually no water penetration when tested by a recognized

independent testing laboratory in accordance with ASTM E331 with a static pressure difference of 5.0 PSF to 20 PSF.
