Database management system:

A Database Management System (DBMS) is a set of computer programs

that controls the creation, maintenance, and the use of the database
in a computer platform or of an organization and its end users. It allows
organizations to place control of organization-wide database
development in the hands of database administrators (DBAs) and other specialists.
A DBMS is a system software package that helps
the use of integrated collection of data records and files known as databases .

basic concepts of dbms:

1. indexing,
2. replication,
3.concurrency,
4.transaction,
5.security,
6.locking.

2.domain name system:: dns

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers,
services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network.
It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the
participants. Most importantly, it translates domain names meaningful to
humans into the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking
equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices worldwide.
For example, www.example.com translates to 208.77.188.166.

3.application of is:

 Improves relationship between users, management, and developers.

 Improves system literacy of users, and subject understanding of developers.
 Conflict resolution becomes responsibility of entire team, with emphasis on
leads.
 Improves systems analysis time by focusing work sessions and gathering all
project
resources simultaneously.
 Lowers cost of systems development by defining requirements more completely and
correctly.
 Increases team satisfaction, confidence, and support.
 Reduces maintenance time due to earlier completeness and correctness of
specification.

4.worksheet:

1. worksheet - a sheet of paper with multiple columns; used by an accountant to

assemble figures for financial statements
piece of paper, sheet of paper, sheet - paper used for writing or printing paper
used for writing or printing.
2. worksheet - a piece of paper recording work planned or done on a project
written account, written record - a written document preserving knowledge of facts
or events
3. A sheet of paper on which work records are kept.
4. A sheet of paper on which preliminary notes or computations are set down.

5.information system audit:

An information technology audit, or information systems audit, is an examination
of the controls within an Information technology (IT) infrastructure.
An IT audit is the process of collecting and evaluating evidence of an
organization's information systems, practices, and operations.
The evaluation of obtained evidence determines if the information systems are
safeguarding assets, maintaining data integrity, and operating effectively to
achieve the
organization's goals or objectives. These reviews may be performed in conjunction
with a financial statement audit, internal audit, or other form of attestation
engagement.

6.networks:

# an interconnected system of computers;

# (broadcasting) a communication system consisting of a group of broadcasting
stations that all transmit the same programs;
# a system of intersecting lines or channels;
# communicate with and within a group;
# (electronics) a system of interconnected electronic components or circuits

7.EDI

(Electronic Data Interchange) is a Pre-Internet form of e-commerce. Governed

by rules maintained by the United Nations, EDI set out to formalize
electronic commerce as a set of standardized message formats, by which businesses
would exchange documents such as purchase orders and
invoices with each other electronically. Until the advent of the Internet, EDI
messages had to be exchanged via dedicated Value-Added Networks (VANs).
This restricted its use to large corporations who had the clout to impose EDI
standardization on their supply chain partners. It is gradually being absorbed
into
(or, depending on your point of view, superceded by) XML-based equivalents.

8.book:

# a written work or composition that has been published (printed on pages bound
together);
# physical objects consisting of a number of pages bound together;
# record: a compilation of the known facts regarding something or someone;
# script: a written version of a play or other dramatic composition; used in
preparing for a performance
# ledger: a record in which commercial accounts are recorded;
# a collection of playing cards satisfying the rules of a card game
# a collection of rules or prescribed standards on the basis of which decisions

9.Internet Protocol: ip

* The Internet Protocol (IP) is a protocol used for communicating data across
a packet-switched internetwork using the Internet Protocol Suite,

* One of the computer networking protocols that are antecedents or descendants

of that specified by the IETF STD005,

* TCP and IP are communication protocols for the Internet. They were designed
at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). ...
* The transport layer protocol used as a basis of the Internet. IP enables
information to be routed from one network to another in packets

* The standard signaling method used for all communication over the Internet

10. Records and Fields

Records the building blocks of databases, records describe information

sources.

Database - Record - Field is unrealistic, at this time, to expect all information

sources to come directly to a computer
screen on demand.

Fields the building blocks of records; these are the sections of a record
where information is stored.

For example, your driver's license or ID card is a record about you with fields
describing your name, eye color, height, address, and so on.
Field names can vary, but in library databases author, title, subject, publisher,
and publication date are common.
