What is
Whrrl?
According to Whrrl.com, “Whrrl v2.0 is a storytelling
application for the web and mobile that lets people
share and remember their real-world stories as they
happen. Everyone - whether physically present or
not - can contribute. Stories can be published to
Facebook and Twitter, and the storyteller controls
who can view and participate.”
Stories…
Stories are simply a sequence of photos and text
— but they’re much more powerful than just an
individual picture or status update for capturing the
context. Stories are inherently durable, as well, unlike
a random picture or status update — imagine all a
person’s stories on a big timeline of their life.
Why
should
I use
Whrrl?
In the spirit of Twitter, Whrrl allows you to
instantly publish what’s going on in your life.
Whrrl’s web and iPhone app lets you tell your
story though text, location and photos. There
is no cost to use Whrrl on the web. However,
when using the mobile version of Whrrl,
standard carrier charges may apply.
Bottom Line:
Whrrl works and Whrrl will work for you. When approaching Whrrl, approach it as you would a
conference. Remember to Listen, Respond, Converse, Share and Brand.
Listen
Whrrl combines the best features of two major social networks. It’s like Twitter (but with photos), and
like Flickr (but instantly accessible).
Respond
Whrrl lets you capture experiences as they happen and organize them into a lasting story through
photos, location and text.
Converse
By connecting with friends on Whrrl, you can see their live stories on a map. This map pinpoints
the location from which your friend is broadcasting pictures. Use this to create dialogue and
connections.
