Aimetis People Counter

Installation Guide

This document explains how to install and license the Aimetis People Counter on-device
analytics.

Only cameras supporting the AXIS Camera Application Platform are supported.

The Aimetis People Counter must be viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
or newer.

If possible, complete the following steps on a computer that has both access to the internet and
the AXIS camera you will be installing the software to. If that is not possible you will need to
follow the supplementary instruction in the boxes below.
For information about configuring and using the Aimetis People Counter, please refer to the User
Guide available separately.

Installation Steps
1. Browse to https://www.aimetis.com/xnet
2. Log in to your Aimetis Xnet account. If you do not have an account, create one before
continuing.
3. Within the Aimetis Xnet, click on the Downloads tab.
4. Click on Aimetis People Counter on the left. You will see a list of downloads for the
Aimetis People Counter.
5. Download the file ending in eap. This is the installation package.

If the computer you are using to access the internet does not have access to your AXIS
camera, switch to a computer that does before continuing. Transfer the installation
package to this computer.

6. Browse to the home page for your camera. Normally you would browse to http://
followed by the cameras I.P. address.

7. Click Setup at the top right.

8. Click Applications on the left. The Application Packages page will open.

9. Click Browse and locate the installation package you downloaded earlier. It will have
an extension of eap.
10. Click Upload Package. The application will be installed. It will appear in the list
under Installed Applications.

11. Click to highlight the Aimetis People Counter from the list of applications.
12. Click Start at the bottom of the page.

13. At the left, under Applications, click on Aimetis. The Aimetis People Counter
application settings page will open.

Note: Do not use the License link under Aimetis at the left. The Aimetis People Counter
does not use the licensing functionality provided by AXIS.
14. Click on Main Page. A new browser window will open displaying the Aimetis
People Counter.

If the computer you are using does not have access to the internet follow these steps
and skip to step 17.
a. Write down the MAC address at the bottom of the page.
b. Return to the Aimetis Xnet and select the Account Management tab.
c. In the Cameras/Embedded section, click Add.
d. Click Continue on the right.
e. Enter the MAC address you wrote down above and enter a name for this
camera.
15. Near the top of the window, click on the link to Aimetis.com/xnet. A new browser
window will open for the Register Camera page of the Aimetis Xnet.

16. Optional: Your cameras name should be filled in automatically. You may change the
name to make it easier for you to recognize this camera in the future.
17. Optional: If you have a license available, you may select it by entering a quantity of
one. Otherwise you will be issued a trial license.

18. Click Register Camera. You will see a message verifying that your camera has been
registered.
19. Click View Camera. You will see a page listing information about the camera you
have registered.

20. Write down or copy the value under License Key. This is your license key.

21. Return to the window displaying the Aimetis People Counter.

22. Enter the license key.

23. Click Submit. You will see a page verifying that your license key is valid and your
software is licensed.
The installation is complete.

You may click Main Screen to begin configuring and using the Aimetis People Counter.
For further assistance, please refer to the Aimetis People Counter User Guide.
To get started quickly:
a. Click Settings and set a person size.
b. Click Live View to see counting working in real-time.
c. Click any of Dashboard, Staffing and Reports for insight into person counts
over time. Some accrued person counts are necessary for these views to be useful.
