Open eagle 5.7.

Go to new -> schematic.
On left hand side corner there will be a dotted box known as Grid. Below file option
Open grid in that click on display(on) and in style(click on dots) below that there will be size
multiple and alt options do not change these values change multiple to 2(standard value) and
change inch->mm in options on side of size and alt dont worry if values change thats just
conversion
If black screen appears you can change it to white and vice versa as pr your preference you can
do the same by clicking on options->user interface->schematic->black/white
Now on your extreme left you can see small icons or images i.e. your toolbar in that there are
various options if you place your pointer on it their names will appear and you will understand
their functions
We will make a simple circuit of digital optical sensor given in ppt slide no 138
In library of eagle there is no option of photo diode so we will use 2 leds for rx as well as tx
here we are not concerned with the working of the circuit but just the designing of the same
First add devices as shown in the diagram and make the connections for the same
To add go to add
led->LED->5mm
transistor->npn-> 2n3904
rcl->R_US->7.5mm
supply1->+5v->GNMD
pinheads->PINHD-1*3->PINHD-1*03
after the devices have been added make connections by first arranging and rotating them as per
their positions with the help of rotate and move options in toolbar and connect them with wires
with the help of wires option
Make sure that the angle of wire is 90 degrees i.e. make sure that angle is 90 degrees on right
hand side of grid
You can check whether your components are properly connected or not by clicking on move
options and then move your device or wire. the device as well as wire connected to it should
move
Second method to check the same is by clicking on show option in toolbar(eye icon)
And change the background color to black click on wires your wire as well as endings of
component should be highlighted which means connections are proper
After this is done add frame to your schematic for presentation add->frames->A5L LOC
Give name and values to components by clicking on R@ name and R2 values option in toolbar
give names and values if you know otherwise its ok it will only show a warning
Then click on ! icon in tool bar to check errors if there are any errors then correct them and
approve them on your own warnings dont matter
Now save your schematic on desktop in folder with your name and extension should be .sch
Now go to file->switch to board

Repeat the grid step

Now you will see an empty box on you right and components with connections on left
Move them inside box
Arrange them in such a way that it occupies least space so that size of circuit is small And for
cost reduction with the help of move and rotate options
Now reduce the size of box with help of rat nest option in toolbar
Now you can give drill on board this is done by hole option in toolbar
Change size of drill as per your requirement
Keep checking your work by repeating step 23
Click on auto(auto routing option) in tool bar
In that in general you will see 2 options top and bottom
These options are for connections i.e. whether you want connections on top of board or at the
bottom
Select n/a in top for no connections on top of board
Select * in bottom for 100% connections at bottom
Click on ok your components will be connected
Now change the thickness of components connected to VCC
How will one come to know which components are connected to VCC
For that go to schematic repeat step no but only click on wire connected to +5 it will get
highlighted then go to board the same will happen i.e. lines connected to vcc will be highlighted
You can change the thickness by selecting change option in toolbar in that go to width->0.8 or 1
for lines connected to gnd or vcc and 0.4 or0.6 for normal connections.
Keep checking for errors
Then click on polygon option in toolbar
In that angle should be 45 degrees
Use it as border for your board
Then click on rat nest your board will be highlighted
Click on R2NAME and on corner of board
A block will appear saying name this polygon as
Name it as GND
Save your work
Now create 3 layers i.e.
Bottom layer->bottom,pad,vias,dimension,drills
Masking layer->dimension,bstop
Top layer->dimension,tplace,tname,tvalue,tdocu
We give only 3 layers so that our design does not get leaked
Above layers can be created by clicking on display option in toolbar.
