1. OPENING ADDRESS BY CHAIRPERSON

1.1.
Cik Siti Norulfarehah binti Abd Latiff as the Head of the English
Panel welcomed
the members to the first panel meeting. She also welcomed the
new Head Of
Language Department En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari to the
meeting.

2. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

2.1.
Tn. Haji Abdullah bin Kamaruddin as the secretary presented the
previous
meeting minutes to the members.
2.2.
Puan Zurita binti Othman suggested the meeting minutes to be
approved and
was seconded by Cik Wan Nor Ewani Islam binti Wan Zahari.

3. ARISING MATTER
3.1.
E-Pocket
3.1.1.
Cik Wan Nor Ewani Islam binti Wan Zahari said that her class
was doing the
exercises contained in e-pocket.
3.1.2.
En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari asked what was e-pocket and Cik
Siti

explained it to
him.

Marking Workshop
This matter was discussed and is waiting for an action.

Analysis And Post Moterm For Trial SPM and Trial PT3
En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari said that students need to be
familiarised with the
PT3 format
3.3.2.
He also wants the teachers to keep the PBS reading evidence for
assessing
their students or teachers can just use the text book.
3.4.
3.4.1.

PBS / PT3
The PBS for form 1 is still in progress even though they have
the new syllabus for
OPS English. This is because the new syllabus already
contained the PBS evidence
but only for listening and speaking.
3.4.2.
So, the PBS lesson for form 1 is speaking and listening and the
normal syllabus
will be started in the second semester.
3.5.
3.5.1.

Strategic Planning 2014-2016

En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari asked what was the plan and
answered by Cik Siti
Norulfarehah binti Abd Latiff that the plans were Writing Test,
Smart Relief and
English Festival.
3.5.2.
Panel has decided that all English teachers need to prepare the
basic English
Exercises for Smart Relief. Students need to copy these
exercises in their
vocabulary exercise
book.

3.5.3.

A writing test will be carried out in every month for all the form
2 to form 5
students. It will be held during English lesson on plain paper and
students need to
paste the marked essay in their writing exercise book starting in
March.

4. ANALYSIS / POST MOTERM

4.1.
En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari said that the teachers need to
improve the students grade from F result to E.
4.2.
Cik Wan Nor Ewani Islam binti Wan Zahari responded that the
teachers only got the latest format in June and students were not
really familiar
with the new format so they failed to answer the PT3 questions.
4.3.
En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari rose the matter of listening test. He
wants teachers
do more listening practices with the students so that they will not
panic during the real examination. He urged the teachers need to
use more English in class. The teachers should Simplify the
words until the students get what the teachers are trying to
convey.
5. PANEL PLAN FOR SPM
5.1.
Writing Workshop
5.1.1
En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari said that he will invite his friend Mr.
Fadly for the
answering and writing seminar for year 2015.
5.1.2
Cik Siti Norulfarehah binti Abd Latiff
explained that the
students will be divided
into two groups of different levels- those who are good and those
who are weak
and she suggested to hold it early in the year.

En. Ahmad Effendi bin Bahari encouraged the teachers to carry
out tuition classes

for the SPM and PT3 students early in the morning once a month
and the lasses
are for the best students that want to study in a smart way.
6. ENGLISH MONTH PROGRAM
6.1.
Tn. Haji Abdullah bin Kamaruddin said that some students
requested for a singing
competition to be hold which is good for them and they could
learn English
through their preferable ways.
6.2.
The other programes for English month are Spell It Right, Word
Building, Public
Speaking, Storytelling and Special Wishes for Miss Cheyenne
Boyce.
7. OTHER MATTERS
7.1.

7.1.1
There are some activities organised by English Panel to
strengthen the use of
English among students. The activities are

All these activities will be held on Wednesday during
morning assembly and recess
time and will be carried out at the school assembly square.

Lesson study
7.2.1
As the Head of The Language Department, En. Ahmad Effendi bin
Bahari informed
that the Malay Language Panel will carry out the lesson study
because English
Panel had already done it one last year.
