SPECIFICATION
The chillers shall be completely factory assembled with all
interconnecting refrigerant piping and wiring ready for field
installation. After assembly the unit shall have a run test with
water flowing through the cooler. The unit shall be pressure
tested, evacuated and fully charged with refrigerant and oil.
The unit structure is heavy-gauge, galvanised steel coated with
baked-on powder paint (Champagne (Munsell No.
9.8YR4.36/1.2)).
Compressors
The unit shall have hermetic scroll compressors. High efficiency
is achieved through a controlled orbit and the use of an
advanced scroll geometry. All rotating parts are statically and
dynamically balanced. The compressor motors shall have
integral protection against overloads. The overload protection
will automatically reset. Starting shall be direct on line. The
motor terminal boxes shall have IP-54 weather protection.
FIGURE 1
STATUS
Display/Print
Evaporator
The evaporator shall be stainless steel plate type heat
exchanger with a design working pressure of 10 bar g on the
water side. The evaporator shall be equipped with a
thermostatically controlled heaters for frost protection and
insulated with flexible closed-cell foam. Water connection to the
evaporator is via 3 inch victaulic groove connections.
Refrigerant Circuits
Each circuit will use copper refrigerant pipe formed on computer
controlled bending machines to reduce the number of brazed
joints resulting in a reliable and leak resistant system.
Liquid line components shall include: a service valve, a high
absorption removable core filter-drier, a solenoid valve, a sight
glass with moisture indicator and a thermal expansion valve.
Suction line components shall include: a pressure relief valve, a
pressure transducer and a service valve. Suction lines shall be
covered with closed-cell insulation.
Discharge lines shall include service and isolation (ball) valves,
one or two high pressure cutout switches, a pressure transducer
and a pressure relief valve on larger models.
Air Cooled Condensers
The condenser coils shall be seamless copper tubes, arranged
in staggered rows, mechanically expanded into corrugated
epoxy coated aluminium fins. Integral sub-cooling will be
included.
The condenser fans shall have metal 'sickle' blades integrated
into the rotor of an external rotor motor. They are designed for
maximum efficiency and statically and dynamically balanced for
vibration free operation. They shall be directly driven by
independent motors, and positioned for vertical air discharge.
The fan guards will be constructed of heavy-gauge, corrosion
resistant, coated steel.
The IP54 fan motors shall be totally enclosed air-over type. They
will feature ball bearings that are double-sealed and
permanently lubricated.
Power and Control Panels
All power and controls will be contained in a IP55 cabinet with
hinged and lockable outer doors. Power and control sections will
be housed in separate enclosures.

Dual Speed Fans - Fans operate either in high mode (890 rpm)
or in low mode (690 rpm). Fan speed reduces automatically from
high to low mode as head pressure falls, or at programmed
times within the control software.
Micro Gateway
Interface to enable communication with building control systems
using BACnet or MODBUS protocols. See separate York
documentation. (Cannot be fitted when a (BAS) Interface is
fitted).
ACCESSORIES
38 mm Insulation - Double thickness insulation provided for
enhanced efficiency, and low temperature applications.
Page G.3
Doc. No. PC158-100 Rev 0 (12/05)
All pipework and fittings are galvanised and outlets are 3"
victaulic groove type. 9 mm, thermal insulation is included.
Pressure tapping points are included for differential pressure
measurement. (gauges to be supplied by others).
Dual pump models have non return valves and a flow control
valve to ensure correct operation.

rates and head pressures:

(1) Liquid sub-cooling measured at the liquid line should be between 8.5 and 11.0 C at circuit full load.
(1) Sub-cooling is determined by the level of refrigerant charge in each system.
(2) The unit capacity control percentages stated in brackets, apply when the largest compressors
(2) on the lead and lag systems are stating first.
(3) Sound Pressure levels are 1 m from the Control Panel, at a height of 1.6 m from the unit base.
(2) Levels may vary at different positions around the unit. Levels do not include Hydro Kit Option.

The recommended clearances and dimensions are the distances between the edge of the units and the architectural enclosure
surrounding them. It is important that adequate space is available to ensure that air discharged via the fans is not recirculated into
the condenser coil intake, which would reduce the unit capacity.
The dimensions at the front and rear of the units allow for access to the control panel and for component removal.
The enclosure height should not exceed the height of the units. Horizontal obstructions or overhangs should not be closer than 15
metres above the top of any unit and no obstructions are allowed directly above the unit.
