W. Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor.

He was born in Stratford upon

Avon.
At this picture you can see his father's house and his birthplace in Stratford
upon Avon.
He was baptised on 26 April. His actual date of birth remains unknown, but is traditionally
observed on 23 April. Shakespeare is often called the English national poet.
Shakespeare produced most of his known work between 1589 and 1613. His early plays
were mainly comedies and histories and these works remain regarded as some of the best
work produced in these genres.
He then wrote mainly tragedies until about 1608, including Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and
Macbeth, considered some of the finest works in the English language. In his last phase
he often colaborated with other playwrights. Hes representative of European humanism
and late renaissance.
His works contributed significantly to the standardization of grammar, spelling, and
vocabulary. Shakespeare introduced 1,700 original words into the language, many of
which we still use. These include: lonely, accused, successful, and many more.
In addition to all the words, many phrases that we use daily originated in Shakespeares
work. When someone talks about breaking the ice or having a heart of gold or when
someone uses any number of other phrases, he is using Shakespeares language.
William Shakespeare's influence extends from theatre and literature to present-day movies
and the English language itself.
Shakespeare's writings have also impacted a large number of notable novelists and poets
over the years, including Herman Melville and Charles Dickens, and continue to influence
new authors even today.
