APA is working with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to refocus and reinvigorate the visitor experience
at its Exploration Center. APA's work involves evaluating existing exhibits and developing concepts for improvements. A key component of the project was a three-day workshop with the client and stakeholders to examine the current Exploration Center experience and brainstorm ways to enhance it, in particular to appeal to a target audience of families with young children.

New experiences transport
visitors to undersea worlds AldrichPears worked with Monterey Bay to refocus and reinvigorate experiences in the Exploration Center. A key part of the interpretive planning phase was a three-day workshop to examine the existing experience and brainstorm ways to make it more fun and exciting for families. As a result, APA made two recommendations: create an immersive experience and develop new hands-on activities. APA created an exhibit environment that transports visitors to the undersea world of the marine sanctuary. Hands-on exhibits encourage visitors to get hands-on with activities that inspire ocean conservation. The new exhibits activate the existing exhibits and space, and complement their visual style. Team cohesion between APA and the fabricator remained strong during the design-build process. APA arranged weekly check-ins and shop visits to achieve a balance between quality, cost, function and delivery.
