PROGRAMMING

PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS
Before, the public market was located at the busy town of
Indang which is very congested due to population growth
which causes traffic due to lack of parking space. Also, the
public market is very small to accommodate the growing
number of locals and neighboring municipalities who purchase
goods.
The Municipality decided to look for a new location which is
also in Barangay Poblacion, located along the street of J.
Dimabiling yet, parking spaces are still not solved, also,
sanitation and storage.
Indang Public Market has a lot of opportunities due to the
competition in the municipality and in neighboring
municipalities. Since, the public market is only the source of
goods in Indang, improvement of the market is recommended
for inviting, satisfying locals and neighboring municipalities.

DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN OBJECTIVES

To design an iconic structure that will catch attention

of the public
To design a facility that will provide a better
circulation, accommodation and utilization of the users
To design a facility adapting to its location
To design a feasible facility
To design a functional space planning

DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

FUNCTIONAL AESTHETICS: Form and Function must

fight equally in a design
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN: Thrust on durability and
Recyclable Materials
OPPOSITES ATTRACT: Combining Different and
Paradoxical Materials

DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Functional and flexible space planning

A balance between the nature, the structures and

open spaces

DESIGN CONCEPT
REJUVENATE
I believe that people who goes to market needs to feel calm,
relaxed and having fun while shopping. Changing the perspective
of the market will make people enjoy shopping in Market, which
is the traditional way.

CONCEPT
DEVELOPMENT
PUZON, DANE STEFI MARIE P.
2010122425

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT

SPACE
ROOTS
Roots anchors the plants, supply
physical support to the stems,
absorbs nutrients and store foods,
just like a market. A market is a
source of nutrients, food and
supports the people to have a
healthy and livable life.
To answer Markets problem,
through the roots, it will separate
goods into their own categories for
it to be organized.

SPACE
HEXAGON
According to Walter Christaller the
Central Place Theory is asserted
that settlements simply functioned
as 'central places' providing services
to surrounding areas.

This only means that hexagonal

shape plan can give and provide
services to the surrounding areas. It
can efficiently cover a uniform and
plane field, minimizing the distance
of any particular location.

FORM
CITY PLAZA
In market, it is very crowded and people may feel uncomfortable
because of the number of people who are going around the place.
Though the City Plaza concept, the market will look like a plaza for
the users to feel relaxing while they buy their goods.

FORM

STRUCTURAL CONCEPT

TRUSS
The top and bottom layers are of
an identical shape and are
positioned such that their plan
views are coincident. Also, all the
web elements lie in vertical planes.
The result is a double layer grid
that effectively consists of a
number of intersecting plane
trusses. A grid of this type is
referred to as a 'truss grid'. A truss
grid may be regarded as a flat grid
whose elements are trusses.

UTILITY CONCEPT

UTILITY CONCEPT (Electrical)

SOLAR PANEL
The Panel will be used
on a sunny day, and whenever
the sun is applicable, which is
usually everyday.
This
produces
electricity through the sun
rays. Which is cheaper and
eco-friendly for our Mother
Earth.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Electrical)

RAIN PANEL
Since, the country has 2
seasons only, which is the dry
and wet season. the drops of
the rain has the potential in
contributing to the rain panel
for it to work and distribute
electricity during rainy days.
This will be more effective
during rainy days.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)

GREYWATER SYSTEM
The advantages of grey water
are it may lower water and
sewage bills. Re-using grey water
may also be used in gardening.
On the figure below, you will see
how the grey water is being
processed and used in a
building. It takes a lot of effort to
create grey water that will not
harm the users.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)

RAINWATER HARVESTING
SYSTEM
Rainwater from rooftop should be
carried down the water pipes to
storage. Before it will be stored in the
storage tank, it will go through
different process. First flush, is a device
used to flush off the water received in
the first shower. The first shower of
rain should be removed so that
contaminated water will be aloof. After
is filter, secondly it is important that
water will be filtered for treatment of
water
to
effectively
remove
microorganisms.

UTILITY CONCEPT(Plumbing)
STEEL GRATE
Steel grate is any regular
spaced collection of identically, parallel
and elongated elements. Usually, these
are used in drainage system that serves
as a filter to separate water and any solid
material.
This will be used at the dry market
so that when water splashes down the
floor it will go directly into the drainage.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)

UTILITY CONCEPT
(Mechanical)
PASSIVE VENTILATION
It uses the natural forces of wind and
the stack effect by which air rises in
order to renew the air within the
building. Moist and stale air is extracted
directly through ducting up to a roof
termination and then vented to outside.
The air inside a property is normally
warmer than that of the outside air so
rises naturally up the ducting carrying
the moistened content with it. By
positioning the air inlets in the dry area
this provides a flow of replacement
fresh air into the building.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Lighting)

POLYCARBONATE SHEETS
This is used for the rood,
overhangs, and for lightings. It
provides translucent plastic
feature which allows light to
pass through. In replace of glass
this is more economical and
gives strength. It has also
different colors which may be
used in the design of the
structure.

UTILITY CONCEPT (Acoustics)

ACOUSTIC PANEL
Aside from controlling the sound in the market, it will also serve
as a design for the ceiling.
