Product Description
The Buttermaster BCG-300 is a typical shut-off valve
used in fire protection systems, providing a visual
indication of whether the valve is open or closed
according to NFPA recommendations.
BUCHANNON butterfly valves have been designed
with a slow close hand wheel operator, which effectively minimizes water hammer. These valves feature
minimum flow restriction and pressure loss when in
the fully open position. This valve have cut groove
inlet and outlet connections that are suitable for use
with grooved end pipe couplings that are listed and
approved for fire protection.

Care and Maintenance

Design Requirements

Buchannon recommends to provide adequate maintenance to fire suppression system and devices in accordance with Buchannon instructions and/or recomendations,
in addition to the standards of any authority having jurisdiction. It is advisable to
inspect and verify proper operation of the unit annually, performing a visual check for
leakage at the valve pipe connection by a qualified inspection service. The installing
contractor or product manufacturer should be contacted concerning any questions.
Any deterioration, damage, impairment must be immediately corrected.

To ensure best operating conditions, Buchannon butterfly valves must be connected

to the piping system with approved couplings or flange adapters following Buchannon
directions, and complying with regulations from the authorty having jurisdiction. This
valve may be positioned in any direction and flow may be from either direction.
Buchannon butterfly valves have been designed to ensure a minimum pressure loss
and flow restriction during operation on fully open position. Furthermore, the valve also
features a slow close hand wheel gear operator which minimizes water hammering.

Valve Switch Installation

The Buttermaster BCG-300 valve should be
installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, avoiding damage when received from the manufacturer, handling and
during installation. Prior to installation, clean
piping and valve making sure the pipe ends
are clean of any foreign material such as
metal shavings, or dust, etc. In case the valve
closes hard, verify the there are no debris
lodged in the sealing area. Be sure to center
the valve and avoid damaging any components by applying force to seat the valve,
as it may distort components or score the
sealing surface. Avoid the use of excessive

force to open or close the valve as it fails to

comply with all warranties whether express
or implied. In order to avoid excessive stress
on the valve body, provide adequate support to the inlet and oulet pipe adjacent to
the valve. Under no circumstances the valve
should not be used to force a pipeline into
position as this may damage or distort the
valve body. Conduit and electrical connections to the optional tamper switch must be
in accordance with requirements of the local
authority having jurisdiction. The installing
contractor or product manufacturer should
be contacted relative to any questions.
