REVIEW OF LITERATURE
A study of relevant literature is an essential step to get a
full picture of what has been done with regard to the problem
under study. It helps the investigator to go deep into the
problem on one hand and study the different sides of the
problem the other. Knowledge of the previous studies also
leads the researcher to the proper direction of his or her
work.
The process of information seeking various depending
on the information needs of the user as Allen pointed out that
the needs of individuals working on projects changes as the
project progresses. Subject- specific information literacy has
additional dimension and is closely related to the pattern of
information flow as in that discipline.

METHODOLOGY
Research:
Research is a systematic and chronological efforts of finding
out a more appropriate solution to a common social problem. The
word research means to search again and aging and it is
composed of two words. When re-aging and again search- To find
out something.
Every research activity is initiated while keeping in mind a
question, problem, incident or behaviour. Here the researches
tries to find out and identify as to why, when, how and by whom
was the research problem generated. Research has taken field
survey for data collection.

4.1 Observation:
It is an important and ancient technique of every research
study. It is not only a basis for scientific tool of study and analysis
the events happing around in ones daily life unless the researcher
verifies them directly he does not accept them.
According
to
Goode
and
Hatt,
science

Oxford Concise Dictionary- observation means accurate
watching and nothing of phenomenon as they occur in
nature with regard to cause and effect or mutual relations.
4.2 Questionnaire:
It is an important technique used by a researches for
collecting primary data. A questionnaire is a list of questions
concerning the subject matter. The researcher send it to the

H.P. Yang- In its simplest form a questionnaire consists of a
schedule of questions sent by mail to person on a list in a
survey sample.
It constitutes a convenient method of obtaining a limited
amount of information from a small selected group which is
widely scattered.
Sampling:
Stastical data can be collected either by census enquiry or
by sample enquiry. In a census all the units of a universe have to
be studied where as in a sample only selected number of units are
observed and conclusions are drawn about the universe from their
study.

consideration.
H.P. Yang- A statistical sample is a cross section of the entire
group. Our sampling is random sampling is that method of
drawing a portion of a population or unive4rse so that each
number of the population has an equal chance of being
selected (F.N. Kertinger).
A random sampling in the library of IIT Roorkee has been

SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE BENEFITS
6.1 Conclusion:
Today computer and related technologies has brought
revolutionary changes in the whole world of information perhaps,
this is the most exciting period in the history of human race when
worlds most population is shifting from techno-illiterate to technolitrate. This revolutionary change is also true in the case of
libraries and information centers can hardly functin today without
computer and information technologies. A well equipped library
with the facilities of modern information infrastructures and
technologies could satisfy the maximum demand of the present
technology
conscious
users.
