Setting up a Windows Task to

Automatically Run Profile Backups
If your backup hangs or appears to freeze then
there is a chance the data you are attempting to
back up is requiring more space than what were
allotted. Each of us has a disc quota of 5Gb on
our file server. If your backup set is larger than
that it will hang. The backup runs in a simple
DOS shell so if it hangs (give it at least 5 minutes
it may be working on it) just end the task and
the recommendation is to only put supportcritical data within the Documents, Downloads,
Videos or Picture (most common folders to get
large) folder structures. Anything that can be
easily replaced by downloading or from a
coworker can skip going into the backup routine.
Alert support if you have any issues.

Important opening points:

Keep this in your Documents folder so it is
backed up. If your PC has to be swapped
youll need to repeat this process since
there is not an easy way to export
Windows Tasks.
Given the number of drive failures weve
had I highly recommend everyone do
these steps!

You absolutely must be logged in for this

to run. The machine may be locked but if
you are not logged into your profile it will
not run.

1. Go to Start then click on Control Panel.

2. In the right-side search window type in the word, Task

3. Scroll down to the Administrative Tools subheading and click on Schedule Tasks.

4. Click on Action on the menu bar.

8. Choose how often you run this backup. Frequency is entirely up to the individual
since the script takes very little PC resources but the recommendation is to run
at least weekly (many choose daily and thats more than fine). During lunch is
one suggestion for when to schedule it to run. Once again, you must be logged
in for this to work!
NOTE: The script now starts runs and terminates without user
interaction (no need to hit OK on the opening banner or press
any key at the end). If you experience something different the
latest script may need to be re-pushed to your machine.

The Date and Time can be edited by clicking within the fields and typing.

9. Click Next when done.

10. The Action youll be doing is Start a Program.

11. Hit "Next".

12. Hit the browse button and navigate to c:\Program Files\Refresh_Backup\ then
select the backup.bat file. If you do not see the .bat then be sure to select the
backup that has a Type listed as Windows Batch File.
Important note: The batch you are selecting should have
a Date Modified of no earlier than 08/1/2014. You may
have a more recent date (which is fine) as I often try to
improve this script
Please ignore any other files in the folder (Picture below
is an example and will not necessary reflect what you
see).

Once youve selected the correct batch file, click Open.

13. Then click Next. The screen should now look like this:

14. Double-check all the parameters (Trigger and Action should look very similar
to the picture below -- with YOUR choices as the Trigger information) and click
Finish. Youre good to go!

Do not hesitate to ask questions if something is not quite clear or you run
into any problems. As a reminder use the internal tech support email
template by going to the Agent Center, Agent Materials and Templates,
