Programs Introduction
Organizations have been using business analytics for
many years. Managing and analyzing data have always
offered greatest advantages for organizations of all sizes
and across all industries. Businesses have struggled a
long way to find pragmatic approach to capture data
about the products, services and customers. Business
was pretty straightforward when companies sold a
handful of products to customers who bought the same
product in the same way. But over a period of time, the
companies and the market they participate have grown
into complex systems. To survive or gain a competitive
advantage, companies are adding more product lines
and have diverse ways of delivering the products to its
customers. With markets becoming more dynamic, the
role of a business analyst in an organization is
increasingly becoming important.
While data is important, the right data is essential. one
may get overwhelmed by the increasing amount of data
being collected. Understanding what is important to
business helps business analyst to evaluate what data
counts or should be counted. The term Business
Analytics defines technology that uses data analysis to
understand business issues in a way that can guide
decision making. The use of Business Analytics has
provided companies with competitive edge. A research
study has estimated that there is a striking correlation
between organization's sophistication in using analytics
and its performance. Business Analytics uses Statistical
and Operation Research tools to drive decision making
and performance.
Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of
Management & Research has designed a course in
Business Analytics that covers all major areas like big
data analytics, statistical and predictive analytics,
prescriptive and descriptive analytics, data mining
and warehousing.
Program Objectives
The course is technology driven and designed to provide
in-depth knowledge of the Business Analytics tools that
are used for decision making.
Understand the use of Business Analytics in strategy
building and gaining competitive advantage for the
organization.
