Technical Details as Per DNV 2.

7-3 Standard for Basket

Materials
Wrought steel
Steel use in Fabrication will comply with the material requirements of a recognized code. The chemical
composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment and weld ability will be satisfactory for the service as well as
the fabrication process.
Steel w i l l possess adequate fracture resistance energy to avoid the initiation of brittle fracture. Steel for
primary structure, should be Charpy (V-notch) impact tested in accordance to a recognized code, e.g. DNV-OSB101, ASTM A370.

Lift points
Lift points will be constructed from special or primary steel, as per DNV-OS-C101 . References for acceptance
criteria are given in DNV-OS-B101, EN 10164 or to compatible ASTM specification.
All welds transferring load in tension will be full penetration type. Full penetration is also recommended for
welds transferring loads in shear.

Welding
Welders and welding procedures will be approved and certified according to a recognised standard,
e.g. DNV-OS-C401, ASME section IX, ANSI/ AWS D1.1, EN 287 and EN288.
Welding procedure specifications, welding procedure qualification tests and approval of welding procedures
will be in accordance with a recognised standard, e.g. ASME section IX, ANSI/ AWS D1.1, EN 287 and
EN288.

Weld acceptance criteria

The soundness of welded joints will comply with the specified standard, regulations or relevant rules for
acceptability of weld defects.

Frame Structure of the Basket

Frames, each of said frames having a horizontally oriented rectangular base frame, said base frame defining
four sides and base frame corners, support posts attached to and extending vertically upward from said base
frame, a horizontally oriented top frame, said top frame defining four sides and four top frame corners
around a central opening, said top frame attached to and supported on said support posts, and framing
attached to said support posts, wherein said sides of said base frame and said sides of said top frame, and
said framing defining an opening to said cradle frame.

Base frame support bars mounted to and below said base frames of each of said frame, said base frame
support bars extending along the periphery of each said base frame from each of said base frame corners;

Top support bars mounted to said top frame of each of said cradle frames so as to extend upward from each
of said top frames, said top support bars extending along the periphery of each said top frame from each of
said top frame corners, each of said top support bars being offset from said base frame support bars of said
base frame of each of said frames whereby said top support bars and said base frame support bars will nest
side by side.
