PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: (PLEASE MENTION BRIEFLY THE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION)
To ensure that all the sites are provided with proper guidance on the C&I systems on timely maintenance and
availability with reliability
To liaise with the sites for ensuring that the station runs smoothly with well- maintained and 100% availability of C&I
equipment
For timely advice to the sites in case of emergencies and SOS calls
To review and approve SMPs of C&I equipment of plants
B. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Critical Responsibilities
1 * Interact with the Site teams on a regular basis and ensure proper review and implementation of C & I
maintenance and calibration schedules at all operational plants
2 * Reviewing and monitoring performance of the C&I activities at all operating plants and provide timely support and
guidance
3 * Ensure proper implementation of Preventive Maintenance schedule as recommended by OEMs to ensure smooth
and reliable running of the plant
4 * Oversees implementation of plans to achieve maximum availability and capacity utilization of instruments
5 * Monitor and ensure proper Operation & Maintenance of critical equipment such as DCS
6 * Oversees activities such as calibration checking of instruments, stroke checking of control valves, implementation
of logics in the DCS etc.
7 * Ensure to create and develop the necessary C & I teams all across plant locations
Important Responsibilities
8 * Interact and participate in the discussions with OEM vendors and provide necessary technical inputs for ensuring
availability of equipment
9 * Evaluate the performance of the Vendors / OEMs through structured evaluation mechanism to ensure enhanced
performance and support from them
10 * Closely work with Vendors / OEMs to understand new trends in the technology and to avoid any obsolescence
11 * Monitor availability of consumables and other critical spares required for the smooth and trouble-free operation of
the instrumentation in the Plant
12 * Ensure smooth functioning of all automated C & I systems across the plants by daily monitoring
13 * Provide technical solutions to HO & Site teams on C & I related activities and guide the teams in the
implementation of cost and energy saving measures
14 * Monitor the proper functioning of Pollution Monitoring instruments and lab instruments
15 * Interact with the site teams and get the daily reports on various aspects like Monitors & reviews trip analysis etc.,
and provide the necessary technical guidance wherever required to site teams
16 * Participate in the Budget preparation for the C&I department and ensure timely availability of spares
17 * Ensure that the team is updated on the latest technologies in the areas of C & I by providing necessary training
wherever necessary
Other Responsibilities
18 * Review and guide the site teams on the implementation of SMPs in safe manner in running units
19 * Prepares relevant reports for giving the plant C&I performance to the top management

C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : (EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION, MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, OTHER

ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION )
Should be a graduate in B.Tech- Electrical & Communication / Instrumentation Engineering with 18-25 plus years of

experience on field instrumentation, DCS and PLC in basic engineering out of which about 15 years in Power plants
of repute. Experience in erection and commissioning of power plant instrumentation would be an added advantage.
