The European Capitals

Introduction
Ever since I was a little boy I dreamed about traveling around the world. Strange lands,
exciting places, and new cultures have always fascinated me. With its many cultures and
background, the Europe with its countries rich in history, architecture, art and intellectual
minds of the past would be a great destination to travel. The European capitals have so
much to offer and are usually the center of arts and culture. Here I will mention only
some of capitals of the European countries, because there are fifty countries and six
disputed countries that make up Europe, and therefore many capitals.
Some famous European capitals
London, Capital of Great Britain
It is political, economic, and commercial centre of Great Britain. It is one of the largest
cities in the world and the largest city in Europe. Its population is about 8 million.
London is divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End, and the East
End. The heart of London is the City, its financial and business centre. Westminster is the
governmental part of London. The West End is the richest and most beautiful part of
London. There are a lot of factories, workshops, and docks in the East End.
Famous sights of London are: the St. Paul's Cathedral, the greatest of English churches;
the Tower of London, founded by Julius Caesar; Westminster Abbey, where nearly all
English kings and queens have been crowned; Westminster Palace, the seat of the British
Parliament; the Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament, famous for its big bell, known
as "Big Ben"; Buckingham Palace as the official residence of the Queen; the Trafalgar
Square, which is the geographical centre of London; the British Museum the biggest
museum in London, etc.
Paris, Capital of France
"City of Lights" is one of the most important world cities with nice buildings and
architecture. The capital of France leaves no one indifferent, and it is the capital of
fashion, art, and generally artistic and cultural events. Montmartre, the Champs Elyses,
Montparnasse, Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, the Latin
Quarter, theater Moulin Rouge, the Louvre Museum, the Opera Bastille are the most
important and most impressive places of the beautiful Paris.

Rome, Capital of Italy

Ancient Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter's
Fountain of the Four rivers, the Spanish Square, Vatican City, Circus Maximus,
neighborhood Aventine, San Lorenzo, Rijone Monti are just some of the amazing
attractions of Rome. Rome is an urban metropolis and fast, and a bit chaotic, but exudes
a lovely Mediterranean atmosphere. Perfect Italian cuisine and an abundance of cultural,
historical and entertainment facilities make that this city is the heart of Europe. And all
roads lead to Rome, right?
Athens, Capital of Greek
Without a doubt, it is one of the most fascinating cities in Europe, with the richest history
and fascinating culture. Greek capital carries a special atmosphere; it is an important and
powerful city, famous as the "cradle of Western civilization." It is a city of the Acropolis,
the Parthenon temple, bohemian Plaka, Kolonaki elite end and other sights. All in all, this
is a city worthy of attention and fame.
Amsterdam, Capital of Netherlands
Founded in the late 12th century as a small fishing village on the banks of the Amstel, it
is now the largest city in the country and its financial and cultural centre. The old city
was built up around a series of concentric, semicircular canals, which still define its
layout and appearance today. It also enjoys a certain notoriety for its red-light district, de
Wallen, and its numerous coffee shops selling cannabis.
Vienna, Capital of Austria
Capital and largest city of Austria is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the
world! Vienna abounds with magnificent cultural and historical monuments, but also a
modern metropolis where every step we can find shopping centers, fashionable and chic
restaurants, bars, wineries and other pursuits. The best known tourist attractions are the
Prater, Charles Church, Schnbrunn Palace, the oldest zoo in the world, Hofburg, St.
Stephen's Cathedral, the Spanish Riding School, the Houses of Parliament, etc.
Conclusion
European capitals are fascinating and provide unity in diversity and diversity in unity.
Some of them, such as Athens and Rome, are the cradle of Western civilization.
My dream is to visit some of these cities. And sometimes dreams really do come true!
