achieved from your unwavering enthusiasm to rise to be the very best in this most challenging of industries. I
am especially pleased to see familiar faces amongst our champions tonight, as we honour those who have been
consistently at the top for many years.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Management of Zurich Insurance Malaysia, I would like to extend my
heartiest congratulations to each and every recipient of an award tonight. Keep up the good work, continue to
pursue excellence and be that positive inspiration and role model for those in your care.
I would also like to thank the entire Zurich agency sales force, members of management and staff who have
steadfastly ensured the development and modernization of Zurich under the Zurich Leadership team. Observing
the growth of our company to this day, Im proud to say that each and every one of you has made tremendous
strides over the years and I trust that we are well on our way to become a leading insurer in Malaysia.
To all qualifiers and award winners, this is a tribute to the strength, perseverance and dedication which you have
shown us over the years. Your achievements today will drive Zurichs Vision: toBeTheBestglobal insurer as
measured by our customers, employees, distributors and shareholders. Zurich Insurance Malaysia is a work in

Welcome once again to the Zurich Insurance Malaysia Agency Awards 2014 and the Zurich Star Experience. It
is with pride and appreciation that tonight, we acknowledge, congratulate and celebrate 313 Champions who
have excelled in various categories. Let me express in particular my congratulations to the Top of the Table
(TOT) recipient, K Narayanasamy and our Court of the Table (by FYC) winner, Fauziah Bt Mohd Amin.
I would also like to extend my heartiest congratulations to our Top Group Agency Manager, Mr. Fu Cheh
Shiun, our Top Agency Manager, Ms. Ho Sau Kwan and our Top Personal Producer Ms. A Amuthavalli.
Such achievements are not attained through a few days or weeks of work but are the result of many years of
commitment, diligence and excellence. To these top performers and to the other 308 awardees, I extend my
congratulations and my respect.
It takes a lot of hard work and determination to be where you are now given the significant challenges faced by
the industry today and the significant opportunities that it presents. But while we reflect on these outstanding
contributions over the last year, this is no time for us to stand still. Companies are continuously updating the way
they do business in order to compete in a world where information is at our fingertips. The speed of business has
never been faster and will be faster tomorrow than it is today. We must continuously strive to improve ourselves,
in order to maintain the high standards that we have set for ourselves.
Let me remind you that we are in the business of helping customers understand and protect themselves from risks.
Therefore to succeed, we need to be relevant for our customers, understanding their needs and expectations. It is
as a result of this understanding that we will be able to deliver advice, propositions and service that will mark us
out from our competitors and make us distinct in our market place. You will all be aware that our FlexiLife Plus
and our Senior Gold propositions have both been enhanced during the first quarter in a way that is unmatched
in the market.
To fit in with todays consumer-oriented world, we also need to ensure that we exercise quality in everything we
do, at every customer touch point. Only when we are connected to our customers, will we be able to add value
in the sales process and respond with relevant solutions and we must always place our customers at the core
of everything we do - without them, there is no business. You will also be aware that regulation and customer
pressure together are driving our industry to demonstrate greater professionalism. When I am asked about the
impact of new regulation on Agency, I always stress that our best, most professional and active agents will benefit
and have greater rewards.
I would like to emphasize that our agency force continues to be the number one distribution channel for the
company and will continue to be an absolutely fundamental part of the business as we expect the contribution
from the agency force to grow bigger. Agency growth is vital in any insurance company. At our stage of
development, recruitment is critical to us and you will have seen the launch of new initiatives in the first part of
this year. Together with you, we will strive to ensure that we double the number of our active agents and be one
step closer to becoming the leading insurance company in Malaysia.
It is when we deliver growth and quality through distinctive product and service propositions that we will BE THE
BEST and position Zurich to outgrow its peers and deliver on our ambitious plan, a success in which we will all
be able to take credit for.
At Zurich, we want to constantly equip our valuable agency force with the latest skills and knowledge through
training and development. This is to ensure that you achieve and maintain a cutting edge lead in this demanding
and increasingly sophisticated industry. Make full use of the Zurich Star Experience as it is a great platform for
you to exchange ideas and solutions and I can only see all of you gaining much from each other.
I have talked to many of you before about bumps in the road and our need not to get distracted by these. For
sure, we will face new and different challenges this year but I am confident that you will rise to the challenge and
meet them with the same determination and fervor you have always displayed. 2014 was a transitional year for
us, a year of many changes as we put in new foundations for long term growth. I am encouraged by our start to
2015 and I know you will surpass our performance from last year in 2015, making it a so so good year. I have
much confidence in your abilities and we have only begun to unlock your potential. On the last day of March, we
received nearly 900 applications we have the potential to do that every single day!
Finally, I would like to thank the Organising Committee for their untiring efforts in making this event a resounding
and remarkable success.

As the calendar flips through to the end of the first quarter of 2015 and my first quarter at Zurich Insurance
Malaysia, I find myself facing multiple opportunities within the company to help me to learn and understand the
value of our agency members and the reason why agency has become such a significant distribution channel for
us. This period has given me the opportunity to embrace new challenges personally and to support our agency
in expanding its customer reach and most importantly, accelerating its growth. I am here today to ensure that we
continue to take our growth forward and to realize the massive potential that this agency has.
The Agency Awards 2014 and Zurich Star Experience (ZSE) are two events of great importance and
significance for all of us. A night of celebration and a toast to success for all your hard work and commitment
coupled with a learning platform exclusively organized for the benefit of everybody attending.

nurturing quality advisors within the company. Various initiatives are in the pipeline to increase the number of
our MDRT qualifiers which will help us boost our membership of this elite club and break into the worlds top
MDRT companies!
This year, Zurich is gearing up with new propositions which will enable us to serve the changing needs of our
customers, with our focus this year being to strengthen our propositions portfolio in the savings and health areas
to cater to the current and future demands of our target customers. We are confident that, by diversifying our
product offerings in the market, you will be able to competitively serve our customers. We will also pursue new
opportunities by focusing harder on the SME segment, providing comprehensive coverage to their owners and
family members as well as to their employees.
In ensuring that we continue to stand tall amongst the best in the business, we need to outshine the competition

customers more reasons to keep coming back. To supplement this, we are also putting a lot of effort into
